Thread: lag! wth
I improved my ping and fps by tinkering with my graphics card settings before going back into swg. I set it to max performance rather than quality.
Try this one....
Just built a new system.
Video Dual nvidia 6800gt's pci express
Processor Pent D 2.8 (dual core)
2 gigs of ram
128 gig hd with 2.4 ms return with 8 meg cache
Internet 1 meg cable connection
Iam not able to run with full anything on. I have to turn terrain off and all the little pretty stuff that I was so looking forward to with this new machine. Whats wrong with that picture.

I have noticed that a big portion of the lag I get is with the machine loading constantly everywhere I go, even with settings low (which I should not have to do) ...
Something to do with the way SOE accesses the information loaded on your harddrive so when ya move around the harddrive is constantly on the run loading the stuff it seems that there is no buffer zone or something, I am not a guru by any means but wouldn't ya think that once you enter a zone it should be loaded up and not constantly loading as you move through it?

Dont get me wrong mate, I am not being funny, I am just trying to help. All I am saying is this could be something todo with it mate, Try changing all the graphic settings in the launchpad like the previous guy said, and set it to LOW.
Good luck with this my friend.
It's an old processor but it still runs the game just fine. hehe. I have the same processor. 1.8Ghz. Rated to outrun an Intel 2.2Ghz.
And I don't lag on Talus.
I would say with a 200 ping it is your modem connection. You are probably getting some packet loss.
Actually, first, in fact, there's an issue with some cards and the vertex shading, try disabling that off before everything else.. For some people it just snafu's some systems
Also I had a GeForce FX5600 for like 2 weeks and it was HORRIBLE, my GeForce 4 Ti4200 wsa wonderful til it burnt out with my old motherboard, but never again with nVidia!
And about that loading with objects, I get it alot too even with a fast hard drive it gets bad in places like MO and Theed, but if you got a decent set of SCSI drive the load lag isn't there at all since SCSI relies on its own processor.

I turned off disk cache and shuttle load times are 2x faster.

Ack !! I wouldn't want to have to go through all that trouble and expense just for a game...
