When i came into this game, and was told of jedi, i was PROMISED and GUARANTEED power, and difficulty. I was told that being a jedi would be the hardest thing in the game, like being a "Hardcore character in Diablo". THAT WAS THEIR WORDS. They told us if we died too much, that was it, it's gone. That the grind would be insane. Months it would take, maybe a year. But our rewards would be huge. Noone would withstand us. We'd mow through everything around us. I couldn't WAIT.

Now? Now it's crap. I saw a padawan take 3 weeks to finish template. That's it. Died 3 times to bounty hunters, and lost enough experience each time for 1 hours worth of play time. Are you kidding me? 3 weeks tofinish the alpha class, the best in the game, a JEDI?! And for what, 1.5x a normal profession?

And the worst thing are you people. All you damned idiots on this board SCREAMING for nerfs on other jedi. Why!? How in the world does that help anything at all? Push for major power and higher consequences!! DEMAND THEY DO WHAT THEY PROMISED.

This is how i pictured ending my jedi career: It's a massive battle, hundreds of people on both sides blasting away. Rockets whistling through the air, explosions everywhere. People in my faction are dropping. But not for long. I'm called in to assist. I've already had 2 deaths, and one more will delete my character. I run in flanking them, spinning my saber, blocking every shot that comes at me. With every swing, 3 people fall dead. I run through their ranks, dividing their army in half as i make my way to my allies. They surround me, grenades launching in my direction, everyone focusing on me. I'm blocking well, but a few get through. They keep coming, and i keep killing. My health is wasted, and after slaughteringa hundredof their army, i fall to the ground. I unlock my Blue Glowie as my character is removed from the game, because i was lucky enough to earn the rank to become Glowie, while my allies finish cleaning up where i left off.

Now, my retirement from jedi will simply be the day i'm sick of fighting Bounty Hunters equal to me in power, where the biggest thing i have to fear is negative experience that means nothing to me while i'm finished template, and can get back in an hour.

*sigh*

2 things real quick...

1) Can I have your stuff

2) Don't let the door hit ya in the 3rd point of contact stud.

Dirt dart wanna-be(redlion) take your pathetic self back to the BH forums and mind your business boot. For the record its 4th point of contact unless you think he has his head in his thigh. Don't pretend to be something your not.

Shawn is right. Bring back perma death. It needs to be like that. But give Jedi back their skills and their power. BH didnt hunt Jedi solo, they feared Jedi for good reason, Jedi were elite, highly disciplined, warriors with incredible abilities that MOST (normal beings) do not understand.

It does suck, that its like this and I am very surprised that George Lucas allowed it to happen. Any way, hopefully someone will take a look and rub the dollar signs out of his or her eyes and realize they have twisted and perverted a potentially great game into flashlight wars and retread broken content so bad its not even worth playing.

The only power we have to force a change is the all mighty dollar. It would take seriously 90% of they player base cancelling their subscription to make any one take enough notice to change anything. And then maybe, and I truly doupt it would happen. Would be cool to see a game community come together and force a change, but again I am not holding my breath.

this is what happens when the people that are in charge of game management cant manage. Yes, we were "bait and switched" to use a consumer term. Promised one thing and got another, which in the u.s. is illegal. If you get to it on a legal sense we are playing and paying for a beta game which has no official release date. They are even false advertising to the public with absolutly no remorse. SOE has proven one thing to me, they can screw up the most basic of game dynamics and then blame their customer base for pointing it out. The only good thing I see coming out of it is that no other big game developers will trust this bunch of monkey screwing the football developers to be in charge of running their games after all the fall out of what they did to Lucas's flagship mmorpg.

Pre-CU Jedi were 'uber' because of their ability to mow down 5 TK's with no sweat. Now you would have problems fighting the Nuna's outside Theed. The reason why Jedi is so crap is because everyone in the game wants one.... seriously, there are atleast 150 Jedi on my server. I think that answers your question... the reason why Jedi is so lame is because there are too many Jedi's going around.

On a side note if this game didn't have so many 9 year old girls whinning about how good we are, none of this would happen.

No, pre-CU the BH FotM was invest 3 melee stacker, because it worked.

Here's a thought; if the subscription numbers of SWG had stayed up instead of being allowed to drop drastically due to not only poor decisions but utter lack of care for SWG's player base on even the most basic level, even 150-300 Jedi would not seem like many. Even100-300Jedi per serverwould not be a problem if this game hadeven 500,000-700,000 subscribers. Preferably 1 million.

Truth is, sure there are a lot of Jedi now, probably at least 100 more per server, but the real reason they're so prominent is because after the CU and the subsequent patches chalk full of nerfs andbarely anynew content lots of the servers are straight thin on players. You see Jedi all the time because frankly a big chunk of the players sticking around are Jedi and their alts. Once we lose those subscribers, this game is toast.

The new trend is post CU Jedi starting to cancel because they're gimped so much.

Isn't the nerfing just straight and plain down to trying to make equality in PVP?

My opinion on it is that rightfully so, Jedi should be more powerful than non Jedi Toons. No question about it.
The problem is that SOE implememnted the Jedi vs BH thing into the game. However, it was to an extent one sided in favour of the jedi who were naturally stronger toons. Time for a good whine and cry nerf then.

Likewise in general PVP,people going overt and then getting smacked down by a stronger toon in this day and age of 'me me me' and 'gotto win at all costs' mentalities. Time for another whine and cry for a good nerf again.

Much whining and cry's for nerfs by the peeps that wanted 'fairness' and 'equality' have resulted in the state of jedi right now.

But in retrospect, how much of this has been a direct result of SOE's bad handling of the class in general? It appears to me that the jedi population is as much to do with what it takes to reach Jedi than anything else. They made it a boring and tedious grind, but an easy one to unlock Jedi. Did they believe that few people would dig in over six phases and grind the xp needed.

I wonder if they envisaged spin groups, grenade xp and the other shenanigans that people have used. LOS on the Ryatt trail anyone?

I just think that basically SOE have been caught with their pants down and made no constructive effort to address the issues, which invariably, have resulted in the Jedi population we have today. Their answer seems to be to hide that fact and act on the whines and nerf cries that have been seemingly non stop.

Lets face it, the pearl drop qualities are SOE's doing, and they're using that as another way to limit jedi abilities. Limit the weapon, limit the strength of the character, making it more on equal par with non Jedi toons. Equality for the masses seems to rule the day over taking a good look at the whole mess and making the class more in line with the ones in the films. Granted the timeline is more akin to a comedy show but there has to be some compromise somewhere.

And by the way, I'm not anti jedi and this isnt an attempt to stir the pot on the JEDI forum, just my thoughts

wow,

this is a total eye opener for me. I wanted to be a Jedi in the worst way, but now that i see they're not all they're cracked up to be, and about as common as Dwarf Nuna's outside Tatooine, it really isn't all that appealing anymore....

Now I have no idea what i want to do, heh. Oh well, at least thats one problem taken care of.

Padawans are not meant to be the alpha class any more (and shouldn't be, by definition IMHO). The alpha class will be a small, controlled number of players, a.k.a. Knights and above. The alpha, 1.5x, uber players will be in-game again someday (soon?)

If you look at the evolution of the Jedi class in the game, the FRS was designed to limit the uberness of Jedi from the get-go, yet still make it possible for a select few. That's why padawans have been nerfed so much. The devs realized a lot of people wanted to be Jedi, so they make it possible. But they also make it more difficult to achieve, and they still aren't much stronger than a standard template elite player. When Knights return, I am confident that all the lost skills/abilities will be returned to those who work hard for it and gain it through competition (PVP).

I am sure this will lead to a lot of bitterness and envy, because the power-grinders always seem to get the best stuff in the game. That's not the devs' fault, though. They have to set up a balanced game-mechanic. It's up to the players to figure out who become the top bananas in the game.

And as far as 'DEMANDING THEY DO WHAT THEY PROMISED', you should re-read the disclaimer on the game box, website, logon screen, etc. Gameplay will change. And NOTHING is guaranteed. Just like real life.

I think it's safe to say that every profession is at an all time low, I'm a BH now and was one back when you had to have master scout and master marksman. Although the majority of the problems are Dev related, they do seem to take bits and pieces from these forums and implement them in some twisted way. There have been large strides made in improving gameplay, however the biggest problem revolves around PvP. "There is always a bigger fish" if PvP wins could solely be based on specific templates thenwe'd have more problems than we do now. Just like Pre CU, the unbeatable guys were TKM's and Swordsman.

As a BH I still tend to leave a majority of the Jedi population alone, butI do invest a lot in the best equipment and in my template, I test macros and variations of moves and study other profession's weakpoints and tryto research what players like to do in certain instances. I remember Pre Pub 10 most of us had an oppritunity to play multiple professions, what else were we gonna do, Jedi was locked and the bits of information we did get made us find the best working templates for our goals. I played almost all of the different professions (ranged and Melee) as did a lot of others and found strengths and vulnerabilities in all of them, but I understood them nonetheless. This is a vast difference between then and now.Todays Jedi, and all other professions for that matter, seem to read about who's b**chingabout who and goes withthe currentFOTM's.

When the CU hit, I'm convinced that the only reason there were so many BH's popping up is because of all the negative posts about them in the forums. It's certainly not the stats, as they are equal to MSL and Commando (number for number that is, not in special abilities) Same goes with CM and Doc. My point is, isthat anyone with a little forethought and experience can make any template viable, if your relying on forum posts to get you by then your pretty much screwed.

So in other words, all of you little pre-pubescent kiddies out there are the ones who are making this game crap (with the help of the Devs of course) You lack the maturity the take an ass-kicking and learn from it, and want everything given to you. You can't learn how to beat anyone running bol missions out of MO, and dueling doesn't really cut it either. You not only have affected the Jedi profession, but your well on your way toruining the player economy as well, with your greed and need to be uber at any cost. I'd personally like to see Jedi made stronger, at the same time turned back into the respectable profession it used to be.

This weekend I went after two Jedi, one ended in a stalemate and the other ended up with me in the clone center. Both were honorable fights, withconstructive conversationsensuing afterwards. There were no hardfeelings, no harsh words exchanged, and even though I gained nothing but equipment decay, it was fun. The key factor to this though was that we had all been playing for some time and knew how things wereand kept things in perspective. I don't really know whyI lost, was it my tactics, did he have better equipment, didI underestimate my mark, the fact is, instead of whinning about it, and asking for this poor guy to be nerfed, I'm learning from it. Thats how this game is supposed to be played, no different than anyother game

I think it's funnynow thatwhile they arerevamping some of the more borked professions, people are complaining about it. There's actually people that would rather have a broken profession, then have the newer players enjoy a working one. These are also the same people who seem to have more "pull" on these forums and affect player change as a whole. I'm sorry, but just because you have posts numbering in the thousands doesn't make you insiteful.

Frankly I'm not really even sure why I wrote all of this, half of the playerbase will accept itand continue doing what they are doing, and the other half will call me self rightous, and out of touch and will flame accordingly. Oh well, I gues that all I can hope for is that mommie's basement floods or her credit card runs out. Either one is fine with me.
