Thread: This statement from soe is almost laughable...

Part of what makes powers so gimped is the fact that people have force shield and force feedback. Now consider you're powers. Cloak and wait for a target. Most people do not have force shield and force feedback macros running, simply because they eat up force and if there's nobody using force, there's no reason to have them running. Unlike aura and force armor, which are generic, there's no great reason to run those two.

Having cloak will allow you to attack while that person does not have their anti-powers specials running. Opening up with a Force KD + choke will be a good combo (choke ticks for more if they're kit while KD'd, like all DOTs.) Alpha means first, not best. If you're cloaked, you stand a better chance to get that force KD and powers in before they get their force shield or force feedback macro running.

and yeah, considering last ditch basically puts you in a crappy position- low action/health/mind- It's really a stupid move to open up with.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

just remove forced pvp. let jedi go sf if they want to be on the terms and pvp.

if you want force pvp removed go into your skill windows, drop everything related to jedi, grind up a Mpike/doc 4004/whatever else template and go pve till the cows come home.

I dont want to flame. but I agree. forced pvp is part of what being a jedi is about. But just maybe let there be other hunted classes in the game. That would really bring some balance that these devs are yearning for.

Kraken,

First Strike, aka Alpha Strike, is the initiating move to a confrontation. Your idea of what a first strike is is wrong. Here is a list of First Strike skills of professions that I know (since the CU):

BH: Usually Underhand or Critical Shot

Pistols: Either Torso Shot or Stopping Shot

Carbineers: Umm...no clue

Rifleman: Covershot or Sniper (sniper blows your cover, so it is usually saved if stalking)

Smuggler: Concussion

Commando: Doesn't have any

Jedi: Armor Break or KD

When Bounty Hunters talk abot Alpha strike, they mean the ability to choose when and where you attack. Cloak gives you that ability.

thats the problem guys, we are so limited while others can use just about any strike reguardless its classifacation or even if its legal...we dont have umpires or referees to watch the fights so bh get away with these tactics with no repercussions. As soe takes away our ability to defend ourselves, they allow all other proffesions to do as they wish...

>> forced pvp is part of what being a jedi is about

Where did you get this idea? Where did you see a jedi hunted by a BH in SW ? Shall I remember you that when jedi first came out this was not implemented? Why do you comply with a stupid dev decision?

Being hunted by a BH was not the deal in the begining. Only BH could agree to this now. Because if some jedi players like PVP, all they have to do is turn SF and do some PVP.

Where I don't agree here is that there are some people, like me, who don't want to PVP all day and want to experience SWG content on the jedi side. And don't tell me not to play a jedi if I don't like PVP. I spent 15 tedious weeks to unlock one and yet I am still waiting for my true reward i.e. a real jedi and not a balanced profession like the one every other players can master in two days.

Umm...are you particularly more whiney today? Jedi is the toughest profession to master and to play against in teh Galaxy, yet you complain.

I fought 20 jedi in the past week that will prove to you that MOST jedi are able to win against any BH combo. My record has been 8 and 12. And taken into account that several of these weren't "fair" fights, the record shows that many jedi are able to hold their own, regardless of their saber damage.

I don't think you have it exactly right either but I Think we are confusing terms.

An alpha strike is just the first strike. That can be anything.

An alpha strike ability is some skill that allows you to get in the first strike against an opponenet.

There is a difference. Cover is an alpha strike ability because the design is for you to go invisiblie, creep up on an unsuspecting enemy and hit them before they know they have been hit.

Cloak is supposed to be the same thing for Jedi (though I acknowledge that its got some issues along those lines)

BH have a first strike ability via the TEF system for Jedi bounty missions.

As far as I know right now there are no other first strike abilities in the game though Rangers sound like they are getting the next ones.

Am I missing something?

Calling Paralyze a first strike ability because a BH can use it is wrong. They could lead off with ranged attack too or headshot or sprayshot or antyhing else. Their ability to strike first flows from the TEF they have against us.

Oh My Goodness...you didn't just say that. The snare effect isn't going to prevent you from getting within 32 meters of the bad guy. In fact, you can follow them and find them when they are channeling and smoke them even faster because they have no idea you are there.
