The time you stay hidden before acquiring visibility has no affect on it what so ever.

there is no "non-visible" time. no matter if you are inactive for 3 months or more. Kill NPC's or do things in front of non group members and you will be on the terms quickly.

I read somewhere that any object that was a "character" generated vis and that "entities" did not (however droids are "entities" arn't they?) :S

yesterday i asked the question of " does wearing robes give you vis" and the answers i got were, that no they dont however equipping them does....and also equipping a saber does but once equippedyour fine......... not sure how true that is but it sounds quite likely to me

Pretty weird 
Ppl only recognize you as a jedi when you change clothes to robes but when you wear them they don't recognize you? )
