Thread: Visibility question

Basic rule:

Any non-animal objectthat can move in your 32 meters adds to your visibility. Some lesser, some more but they always add... There is no formula and I don't think devs even know how it works exactly.

And thanks for writing "visibility" in correct form instead of "visa-bility"

there is a formula the gam uses but it has not been shown to us. Basically, the more you are seen the more likely you will be put on the turms. you can build a certain amount of visibility up to a certain threshold at which piont you will be put on the turms. I this new system from what i hear from padawans is that you cannot stay off the turms and progress in a reasonable amount on time. and teh range is 32m for visibility and it takes 3 weks for visibility to decay.

I thought there did used to be a formula posted in one of the old, old Jedi guides? I will look for it.

Here is the info I was referring to, taken from SonGouki's Pre-CU post: Link

Visibility:

You gain visibility by equipping a lightsaber, initiating combat with a lightsaber, and using any Jedi-related skills that consume Force power within range of other players or NPC's. You will gain a little at a time for using it in front of a few people. Do it in front of a lot of people (like in a starport) and you will almost immediately appear on the BH Terminals.

The range for visibility is 32 meters. Performing any of the above acts in front of PC/NPC’s within that range will increase your visibility.

It is unknown if you gain visibility for just having a lightsaber or robe equipped.

It is also unknown if you gain visibility only upon using a force power or if having a latent Force power active in front of others (such as Force Run or Force Armor) will gain you visibility as well.

It is rumoured that only NPC's that you can loot credits off of will count towards gaining visibility (but they all seem to drop credits now after publish 10.2).

The increase to a Jedi's Visibility Value (JVV) is determined as follows:

  • An opposing faction member who views this action will add the full value of the action to the Jedi Visibility Value.

  • ACivilian PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 50 percent of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.

  • A same-faction PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 25 percent of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.

Being grouped with a PC or non-animal NPC who is viewing this action has no influence on how Jedi Visibility is obtained. In other words, group members will still increase your visibility regardless.

Note that forCivilian Jedi everyone else is consideredCivilian when calculating the increase to visibility. No one is considered to be of an allied or opposing faction and will always increase the JVV by 50 percent of the action’s Jedi Visibility Modifier.

Visibility decays over time, taking three weeks to decay fully.

I think this same info still applies, post CU.

Hi I am a new paddy, and just had a couple of questions. In the new patch If you are grouped now you will get no vis right?

Also when going by people and NPC's do you get vis from wearing your jedi robes?

Those are just a couple of questions if anyone could hammer those down for me that would be great.

Correct, you will get no Visibility from being seen by your group members.

Jedi Robes have nothing to do with it. If your lightsaber is seen though, then you get visisbility.

You are supposed to get no visibility unless you are 32 meters range of an NPC or killed / attacked an NPC in groups.

Having your robe equipped around people also will not get you visibility unless you equip it / unequip it near others. However, it is better to unequip robe and saber before going into other players for not to be known as Jedi or taking attention of hateful looks.

If it activates for whatever reason. Having it equipped doesn't cause visibility.

Looks like a good spot for my question.....
In a group with two characters, if the jedi in the group duals the other person in the group will the jedi gain visibility?

I know that you not supposed to gain visibility from group members, but combat against group members - does that trigger some other rule?

Thanks
Mijel

Personally speaking...

Until I am allowed to see a box with either a visibility number or a visibility sliding scale, I believe that you gain visibility whenever you use your saber/powers around NPCs and PCs. Probably your pets and bikes add visibility. I also don't believe the devs fixed visibility gained by group members.

Is the visibility factor this extreme? Probably not. But you can't prove that it isn't happening either.
