Thread: Ranger Revamp
I agree. My only input is that no matter what branches I choose, I always keep artisan and the surveying tree. While I am out and about in the countryside I do the surveying for my stay at home artisan I continously survey for resources. Would any type of surveying be appropriate in the scout/ranger tree?

Personally, I like most of this revamp. The new traps sound interesting. What I don't like is that we lose Tracking. Even though it was a bit broken, I found it more handy than not. It should be left a Ranger skill. I also agree with others, that the "Stealing" ability should be left to Smugglers and I hope the devs see it that way. Just my 2 cents.
The truth is, Jedi in the end, well already are, useless profession for most purposes. Jedi is now all visual. No unique skills. Jedi cannot be damage dealers, and cannot be ultimate tanks. Even Mdef will be nerfed, trust me.
I support the movement of all, i repeat, alllllll jedi skills, yes every single one of them to the master box, buttt, allow jedi, and only jedi since we worked our butts off to get it, should be able to continue to train any other jedi profession.. thats right, no skill points. Jedi can master any and all jedi professions. I can see a Master Rifleman as a profession that doesnt need any other skills. I mean, if u were a master rifleman irl, would u go to school to be a doctor also? uhh.. no. Its a specialization. Jedi, on the other hand, are supposed to train their entire lives and learn. We should have the ability to continue to learn each jedi profession until all are mastered and then the jedi becomes a Master jedi. Once a knight jedi are already taken out of gcw and can only pve, duel, pvp in battlefields, or pvp via other jedi and have their own faction. But make the grind a pain in the you know what, .. and i mean.. like years, years, years, like it should have been in the beginning, like 100 xp max per kill after the first 250 sp had been used up.
AS for now, ill just continue to play my lightshow, i mean jedi.
when i really want to play the game, i log on my mbh, mcm which is really the only viable template atm.
Remember that as soon as the revamp comes out, half of the skills on ranger will be nerfed once 80% of the server regrinds to ranger prof. Again, its all part of their plan to make us play longer, pay more, and get less.
Happy hunting.
Exactly, a ranger is wilderness oriented end of, not some sort of military recon expert. This is my gripe, the skills look cool, but they're not a ranger in my eyes and i will not stay a ranger if this is implemented.

Modular Traps, Stealth and new ways to track have been the most common features on revamp proposals for the past 2 years. Where have you been?
Sure its not everyone's cup of tea but the skills we go are definatly things members of the community have been asking for, for a long time. I would of prefered a wilderness orientation however the skill contained in the revamp i would still want.

This is not a revamp it is death of a profession. Ranger has always been a pve profession. This screams pvp profession. Who in there right mind thinks introducing a rogue/assasain into a space game is a good idea. Any game where players can steal for one another never turn out well. Thanks for runnign my favoritte profession!

Hmmm... I'm not huge into PVP. It sounds like Ranger will have more use in PVP than before. I don't know how I feel about that. I do like the steal command. I do like the stealth stuff. I like the new "devices". It sounds like they are trying to make Master Ranger worth the points which I can appreciate. I wish they would mention camps. I really like those camps. Hopefully the full factory run I just made won't be for nothing. Interesting indeed.

I personally still dont get why add a steal thing to the Rangers; I´ve never seen a Ranger as a Thief, we are decent people i think.
I have a strong feeling we can expect to see significant changes to the CGW in the coming months and this will feature in there somehow. Read the dev stickies and this 'guess' by one player was called 'a pretty good' one. Given their recent focus groups etc, I'm willing to stick my neck out and imagine that a return to the core focii of the game 18 months or so back were probably high on the feedback list - ie, a combat system based around faction instead of (as well as?) the profession based BH/Jebbi one we currently have in place.

End of the day man its all personal opinion. No-one is right or wrong its just we all have different perceptions on what a ranger should be. Mine is that ranger is a military recon unit.
