you get hit
computer calcs damage based on ranged defnece (since you are holding a ranged weapon) and tyour armour. In this situation melee defence is ignored as you are not holding a melee weapon
its either/or depending on the weapon you hold

This would be the problem, it is basing the defense checks on the attacked.player.weapon instead of attacker.player.weapon.
That is oversimplification but most like what is happening and a swithc should be made to base the defence calculation off of the attacker's weapon instead of the attackee's weapon.
Probaly a typo erro or cut and paste error in the code that handle the calculation
That's the same type of error as our speed bugs. Chance of fixing slim to none. Or 'working as intended'. lol

the less you get hit the less you have to heal
the less you have to heal the more mind/force you got
the more mind/force you got the longer you can last

OK, so if your a Master Powers and holding no weapon, you lose all your Ranged Defense, but you have all your Melee Defense. The game considers unarmed to be melee, I assume. Do you still get Vegesparine benefit without a saber? Or do you have to hold a saber for Veggy mod?
Now, if you hold a saber, you get your melee, because the computer considers that a melee weapon. But still, no ranged defense.
Now, finally, if you hold a gun, you get your Ranged Defense, but lose all your melee defense. If you drink Thundercloud, you get +90 or added to your ranged defense, too, as long as you hold a gun.
To me, this means the devs think of Jedi as melee all the way, including Master Powers.
To defeat this, you need to be a Master Powers guy holding a gun. That may be why Master Powers guys are tougher for BHs to kill. And that may be why they are getting ready to nerf Master Powers guys that hold a gun.
It all makes sense now. And it sucks.![]()

correct but its not as crucial vs a jedi as it is vs a rifleman

What about a master powers who wields an LS just for that basic hit when you need to regen some force? I would need melee defense?
If i decide not to wield any LS to I then become ranged (lightning attack, etc) or do I still stay melee because I'm technically unarmed (fists)?
