Thread: BH Ganking Overt Major problem when Knight returns...

If they make the FRS, what you are suggesting, then the risk vs reward for those in the FRS makes penalties understandable.
That is if SOE can create an FRS that actually works with skills that work. Considering the number of skills that currnetly dont work, I am not hopeful that they have the ability to create something the brings the reward back to Jedi.
That said, there still is no reward for becoming a Jedi in a PostCU combat lvl system. As such, the penalties should be removed.
If the FRS actually makes Jedi more powerful than non-Jedi, then I welcome the penalties.
I just don't have any faith that SOE can do the job.
A factionally Opposed Jedi Caught up to me, Stasised me, waited for their friend, a BH that had my mark catch up.
The BH shot me once, then two other overt Jedis showed up, and I lost the battle. The first Jedi is even the one that DeathBlowed me.
However, the BH, got his full reward of 230+k, and I lost my 450k.
Now I understand that this is PVP and all... But once the BH shot me, None of my friends could heal or help me, but his friends could continue to kill me, while he watched and waited for his reward.
When Knights come back to game and we are permanently overt, all BHs will have to do is what this one did, Get a Gank squad of overt or other Jedi Knights, and not only get the FRS and PVP ranking, but the BH with his one shot will make you lose XP in the process. (Great for Knights wanting the PVP FRS as well, as the BHs will be able to track the Jedis for them to kill.)
Is this the 1 on 1 BH/Jedi that SOE envisions?
I don't think so, and if it is, Knights won't survive unless they run in packs of other Knights all the Time, especially now that Jedi are not even 1.5x a normal profession, and good TKM/Doc can kill most MDefs.
Does anyone else find this wrong? Why wouldn't the BH TEF also work to prevent others from attacking me, just like it prevents others from healing me?
Wouldn't this make more sense? When the BH hits you, you should only be attackable by the BH, not his group of Overt friends.
So if you get your Knight back, and are overt, be on the look out for the Massive BH/Jedi Gank Squads again.
Someone, please let the devs know that this will destroy the GCW. Even now, I don't want to PVP Overt anymore, as The Guild chats go wild to see if anyone in their guild has your mission, and they keep ya alive long enough for the BH to arrive.
It would be different if this was pre-CU, and I could hold my own against 5 people, and use AI or FR to escape a trap.
And no, I'm not whining, as I was XP capped, so it didn't mean much to me at this point, but seriously got me thinking.
Knights will become unplayable and BH/Jedi Ganks will rule once again.

- let your groupmembers know to take off the overts on you so you can concentrate on the BH.
- That or just bail out of the battle (usually enemies won't stray too far from the group).
With that being said, its just the game mechanics, working as intended, and you must assume the risk of being both Overt and a Jedi.
No sounds like an exploit of the system.

Being Jedi is a risk, Being a Jedi/Overt is a bigger risk.
I play both sides, and the problem really lies on you. You should realize all of the possible situations that could arise from being overt + jedi.
Ex) Ideathblow 2 overts solo, I then recieve a tell saying they would like to duel, I say, sure but let me go covert. (reasoning for going covert is because these 2 were planning to stall me just so they could call in some reinforcements for gank me). As soon as I tell them I'm going covert, they tell me what they were planning to do.
So, lesson learned, SOE has forced players to gank. If your'e going to be overt and that happens in that situation, you want to

I truly understand this, but I know you, and I know you also know how Jedi were pre-CU.
Having a couple Jedi involved in PVP was normal and most PVP was non-Jedi as not very many of us Jedi existed in comparison.
Now, Jedi are the Dominate PVP profession, almost everyone has a Full Template Jedi.
So back in the old Days, you were facing several normal profession classes in a PVP battle, and a couple of Jedi. Now you are facing a battle of almost all Jedi - all your equals, so if you are permanently overt, you no longer will be able to travel ANYWHERE or do ANYTHING without being drawn into massive PVP with an equal class of people that in numbers of 2 or 3, no matter how good of a Jedi you are, will simply kill you if you are alone.
Add in the BH factor to this, and it becomes an even bigger mess. You could be out in the remote part of Endor by yourself, and a BH will find you and bring a Jedi Gank Squad with them.
Even if Jedi were to be 1.5x or even as tough as we were pre-CU, it wouldn't matter, as the Gank squads now are massive Jedi groups, and no single Jedi can face several Jedi by themselves, even with the best abilities to escape.
If this was the old days, I would totally agree with you, and even encourage the BH grouping for Jedi Ganking. But unfortunately, it isn't.
We will be facing mass amounts of Jedi Knights (Overt) everywhere. We won't be able to do anything in game that is not specifically PVP related.
Jedi in the movies were not all about murdering, and that is what Jedi has become, a game where murder is everything.
You know me as well, I am not a big PVP fan, having a Jedi introduces me to a certain amount of PVP, but I like to use my Jedi for PVE quests and helping others more than going out to gank or murder people.
SOE should really consider this in the bigger picture. If I want my Jedi to be any more powerful via Knight and FRS, it is a PVP and Murder world only. What if I want a stronger Jedi to help people and not murder everyone?
So basically when you go knight and are overt, you won’t be able to do anything in game, unless several of your friends are on with you, to escort you to where you want to go. This doesn’t sound like much fun…
Sure it is a decision in the long run, but one that shouldn't be an either or.
Hopefully SOE will address this with consideration of the mass amount of Jedi in the game, and maybe being Knights will no longer be permanently Overt. Ultimately, this seems like the best solution for both the strong PVP crowd and the people like me that would rather use my Jedi to help others and not just go out murdering people for fun.
If not, the non-PVP Jedi that don’t have the luxury of traveling in large groups, will not have any role in the FRS.
Take your guild for example even, you are a large PVP guild, and yet when I’m on, there are only a handful of people in your guild on at any one time. And I doubt that everyone that is on in your guild will want the job of escorting each other places as well.

Then when you roll overt, bring a few friends.
True... But the bigger issue is if it is like the old system, when you go Knight you are permanently Overt.
Which means, you won't ever be able to play alone, and will have to wait for friends to play, or take the chance of not only FRS loss but XP loss every time you step outside your door.
Maybe I should have titled this Post:
(BH Dirty Tricks for now, but if Knights are once again permanently Overt in new FRS, the game will crumble for Jedi, as only the people that don’t have a life and hang out on the game 24hrs a day with each other will be able to play.)
I really don't see any new problems arising that were not there before.
I am sorry to say that this is not new to the jedi preofession. Being overt has its loses inwhich you know. Th problem isnot the Devs but the people that complain about situations that caused then loss. We know the drawbacks of cewrtain action but yet we decided to defy them and once our decision blows up in our face ; we have a problem with the system. Its funny how we never complain until the problem hits home, never to say anything when things happen to our fellow player. SWG is going down the tubes because of the TEN SINS:
1. A few players decide to take advantage of certain mechanics of the game by using illegal CHEATS
2. A few players figure out hoe yo make the game easier for their gameplay which others players cant do, so they cry exploit.
3. A few players dont have the time to play SWG like others ,so they say no balance for casual players
4.A few players cant pvp as well as others so they cry nerf or make everyone the same
5.A few players discipline gets nerfed because of people complaining , so they complain in spike to nerf the other
6. "THIS IS MY FAVORITE" A few players lose XP,Duels, beat by noobs and Etc.. SO they cry "is this an exploit" on the forums.
7. A few players didnt plan their template properly and want to change it because of some selfish reasons so they find a nitch in the system in order to complain no balance.
8. "This is a too part one". (a) A few playerscantbare the Jedi grind for many reasons EX: I did 20holos andstill got to do the village; I cant change my template to comando to do nades; they cant get anyone to help them do the badges; people started after them and became Jedi; and since they cant or have gave up on getting jedi they say we messed up GCW which is the dumbestever plus "ITs too many JEDI (JEDImakes up less than 20% of the server. Its also funny no one ever cried about it being toomany MTKA, in which everyone and their mother was one. Now everyone, their mama, and daddies are rifleman). (b) A few JEDI suckin PVP, have EGO problems, very selfish, cnat be uber no more, and even have low self image in real life and need the attention so they cry about what time period jedi has the most honor or had it the worst to validate their egotistical acheivments. So they in point cry to eliminate other JEDI's.
9. A few players on the Forums cry as if they represent the 95% of the players that dont post on the forums or dont post in the profession Forum ( i wondered why the new JEDI COOROSPONDENT mostly posted in the Trade forums like alot of others.
10. Because of the 1-9 SINS the DEVS literly Give the JEDI and other profession what they want and think they need. NERF NERF NERF/ REVAMP REVAMP REVAMP/ BUG BUG BUG/ LIES LIES LIES.
If you figure out why5% of the people in this run and determine the lifestyle and death of the 95% of the world, then you'll realize that YOU ARE YOUR WORST ENEMY.
THE "SENT ONE" HAS SPOKEN.
Hmmm..........
What about going civilian? since there are no opposing factions, then overt is no big deal. May be wrong about this. I have never seen a civi Jedi.
