Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but I've been getting personal messages like this:

Somebody tells you "..."

I tried to message back this "somebody" but got told that their not online or that they don't exist.

Any ideas?

I think when it says Somebody.. it means they are talking in a language you cant understand.. not sure if that also extends to lekku... but i think it is.

It happened to me when the server "split". Everyone who was online in my friends list went offline at once (but they were still online).

At that moment I was having a /tell conversation with a friend and he sent me a couple of messages. When everyone "came back" online, I asked him if he had sent those messages and in fact, he had.

Kind of weird, I was also puzzled by this at the moment

I thought about that, but I know all languages, so that's not it .

That sounds logical, IRC always used to do strange things during server splits. I suppose SWG would be no exception.

Sorry to bug everyone with a false lead.

I've had that happen before too. I've even gotten an email, I guess roleplaying (pretty good..), from a guy whom I have never been able to contact (been weeks now)...

i'm curious as to what this somebody said to you? was it in a tell? how many times have you gotten this message? if more than one time was it on the same planet or has it happened elsewhere. i have read of this before in other posts. personally i have not had anything like this happen yet.i'm wondering if this is someone messing with people, or if it is somthing more. also how long have you been playing on that server?

I received a tell like that from a character that wasn't currently showing right on my screen. For some reason my client wasn't displaying their character. After a while they came back into existance and I could get their name like normal. Lemme tell you though, nothing's wierder than getting a group invite from somebody, and joining a group with no one.

Basically this happens when the chat servers are being cycled (rebooted, services coming back online, etc), from what I understand.... the someone is just the message packet getting to the destination (the person) but the acknowledgment packet that checks for 'who' it originated from cant be retrieved...so it just displays a 'someone/somebody' tag as default...

At least thats how it was explained to me in beta...

It was a /tell.

It literally says:
Somebody tells you "...".

In my message box. I think we tracked it down though, and it's a false lead on the whole Jedi thing. If there's a server split, it can't check who sent it, so just notifies you that you got the message.
