Thread: If saber must be equipped to use the Force, it's another illogical nerf to the Jedi profession

This would truly be an unfortunate change and yet another divergence among countless others from the movies and logical gameplay.

Obi-Wan used a pistol to kill Grevious in EP3. Palpatine didn't use a saber after EP3.

Now we all in SWG will be forced to. It isn't right. It's another nerf. It's illogical.

You could still use a gun, of course, but you'd have to take the time to equip it and unequip it - that extra time will kill you. That makes it impractical and that hurts Powers users a bunch. Powers will have to be really beefed up to compensate - but they won't do that.

If they truly make it so that you can't use Force Lightning or other force powers and enhancements without a saber equipped, that's really nuts and not true to the movies or common sense. Just imagine being cloaked under this new system - you'd have to de-cloak, equip your saber and then strike, losing the element of surprise and precious seconds of attacking.

It just doesn't make sense to do this, but that has never stopped the devs before and it won't stop them now.

I bet they'd allow the powers to go off when unarmed... as for the pistol (it was a carbine, btw), Obi-Wan wasn't exactly using much Force when he blasted it, eh? No contradictions so far.

I don't think it includes force powers, it's referring to using non-Jedi weapons and attacks like a rifle while using other Jedi powers.

Well for powers users, they can just grabcrappy grinding resources and make a training saber and have it equipped, no need to use it. Then again if you are unarmed, you're not equipped with a weapon so it probably won't effect it.

Obi-wan didnt use the force WHILE killing grevy with the Carbine.

Maybe Palpatine lost his saber or the injuries he sustained were too large to allow him to wield one.

They may allow the force to be used with no weapons equipped at all.

But i get what your saying, u shouldnt have to be wielding a LS to use force choke.

But i think its basically an attempt to stop Hybrid temps, such as Mpistols/Mdef/Healer4xxx.

So someone cant use Avoid incap while wielding a T21.

But i reckon we should wait and see, maybe unarmed will allow the use of force abilities, Might give
TKM's an extra edge too but they should find away around that.

Eh? In Force Run 2+ you have the damage reduction modifiers applied to your weapons. Personally I have used FR3 and an ALR and I was doing 10 damage with a normal attack. Is there something that I'm missing or does FR2 allow you to do full damage with a regular weapon?

Obi Wan deathblowed the general with the pistol when he was at 0 health. It was the lag that made him look like he was still attacking Ben. You can do that in this game, too...

Bzzt nope. Try again people, and please try to understand the rumors before spewing more falsehoods around this already lie filled hole of the jedi forum.

The rumor, based on some junk found in the .tre files, is NOT that you must equip a saber, it is that you can't perform force powers with a NON-SABER equipped.

There is a difference.

This may happen, but it is not guaranteed, as there are many many things sitting in the .tre files for a year that have never happened. It's not in a patch notes, so this rumor doesn't mean squat.

Why do you need to unequip a ls when you cloak? Can't you use powers with a LS equiped? I am not understanding the problem.

It just doesn't make sense to do this, but that has never stopped the devs before and it won't stop them now.
