Thread: Countering Thyroid Rupture

HI folks

I read more than I post on these forums - but a couple of things have stood out that I thought I might enquire about. It seems the general consensus is that due to diminishing returns, doc speed buffs, improved force speed and speed tapes don't really affect someone with a fast sabre and MLS all that much. I was just wondering if they would mitigate the effects of speed debuffs (i.e. thyroid rupture) somewhat.

As I see it, say you had 100 speedand +50 in tapes. Thats a total of 150 speed. Now, from what I understand, 150 ain't so much faster than 100, in fact, its barely noticeable. Certainly without testing, I haven't seen much of a difference with my +40 or so in speed tapes. However, if you have a thyroid rupture on you (-40 I believe) then your actual speed of +60 would be +110 instead - which is a huge difference. This also may help to explain why some Jedi seem to breeze through CMs, and some have real trouble. I've only been in a few fights with MCMs, but I can't say I've noticed much speed decrease with rupture on. Incidentally - the moment a BH attacks, I tend to use AI immediately to give me time to unequip my sabre, take all the crystals out, put em back in and start up again. Otherwise you fight at the speed of a <insert something very slow here>.

Is there something I am missing here? I know the numbers may not be entirely accurate - I'm at work and can't check - but you get the general idea...

you answered to fast to have read and considered

I know they don't under normal circumstances - but do you hit faster with SEAs if you have a speed debuff on than if you had no SEAs? Seems that way to me, tho as I said, I haven't done proper testing.

The Combat Speed modifier done by Adrenal Boost, Force Speed, Mushroom Pie, and Thyroid Rupture doesn't modify your speed in that way. That is to say, Force Speed 1 (+10 Combat Speed) is not just raising your LS Speed from 100 to 110. It's some other modifier that affects overall combat speed. There's a noticeable difference between equipping a speed CA and using Force Speed. /shrug.

It may (and will probably) be the case that the faster your sabre, the lower the speed when diminishing returns starts to kick in, and sotapes will make less and less of a difference. I have a decent pre-cu sabre, but its speed isn't experimented at all. I don't notice any sort of difference with tapes on in normal circumstances, but I seem to experience less of a slowdown while debuffed than people i have spoken to. I should really test properly - just wondered if anyone had already.

I understand that its a different modifier, but it adds to the speed in which you can swing your bat, sois affected by diminishing returns in exactly the same way. I could, for example, rework the scenario I presented to be in seconds instead of these speed unit I used.

Something like this.

If you swing your sabre every 2 secs under normal circumstances then you wouldswing it every1.9 secs with +50 in tapes (i.e. not noticeable). However, if you had no tapes, a rupture would decrease your speed to say every3 seconds - thats a big difference. What I am saying is it seems that if you had +50 on and a rupture, your speed would decrease to only 2.2, which again, is not as noticeable.

This is what diminishing returns is all about - itsa parabolic? curve. At the top, nothing much will effect your speed. But at the bottom (or with a debuff), it will have a much more profound effect.

I've noticed that using force run after a CM applies the movement speed de-buff, allows u to return to your normal pace
of movement. Maybe its the same with Force speed.

I noticed that when you put on/take off your clothes that have speed mods, your DPS goes up/down..but i wonder if it makes a difference or it just works like "bio clothes" lol..nothin

*edited by an a$$hole* The CU was an incap with quick recovery while sliding on the ground with someone trying to DB you...The NGE was just a 3 time hit tripple incap straight to the clone center but the clone center was burned down by insane ewoks..

I would like to see this tested extensively. MsNil would prolly be the best person to do it. If the seas really do lower the effect of thyroid rupture then thats a huge advantage in a fight with MBH/MCMs.

I see what this guy is saying...

When adding tapes to an almost capped out speed Jedi you notice little to no difference due to diminishing returns.

When the Debuff lowers your speed though the tapes may have a greater effect due to your speed being lowered into the area where the tapes become helpful.

Sadly though I dont think speed debuffs effect speed in this way (Taking directly from + speed)

DPS is the Damage per second

So it's dependant on the dmg of the weapon as well as its speed.

I.e a weapon with max dmg 1000 and speed 2 should in theory do 500dps, but I doubt that numbers work in game.

But a weapon with dmg 500 and speed 1 should do 500dps as well.

But anyway, there is foods u can take to render the CM de-buffs useless and Jedi abilities will help

I dont think thats correct. If that were the case a 1.0 speed on the weapon above would be 1000 dps. That is not the case. I have .75 speed weapons with 980 max damage at only about 860 DPS.
