Jedi is a starter class now, and they will be given no exception to the new system. All classes will be balanced, as any game should be, yet jedi seem to think they should be more powerful. Why? And let's not use the argument that the movies say so because this game is now officially the furthest from the movies ever.
because of roughly 36 million exp ground out for full template pre cu, because of countless hours hunting krayt dragons to get a decent saber and so on.
this thread will prolly turn to a flame fest but hey...nevrmind aye ![]()
Asong as this game ahs StarWars in the title there will be jedi. yes it has moved from the the timeline but that doesn't mean jedi can't exist. i'm not sure whether ure speaking in general or about something u read in the update forums but it's safe to say that chef's and dancers couldn't fight of sith lords and whatnot using their instruments and saucepans.
Jedi IS the ultimate combat proff, so they do have to have an edge over other combat proffs. How much of an edge is open to discussion. But when u work that bit harder to get something...u expect to get something just that bit better back. If u know what i mean ![]()

Did that come with a signed contract saying you'll be a God among men, or you just believed it was a gentleman's agreement between you and SOE?

It comes down to the effort that was put into acheiving and completing a Jedi toon. The numbers were staggering in the begining. slightly easier once Patch 9 hit. Then Easier in CU. Now easy as it can be with NGE.
When you had to grind solo and in fear of perma death Jedi was what it was meant to be. Slowly as things became easier Jedi became watered down.
The problem really lies with Jedi like myself who remember what we were like back in the day. Power is an all addicting drug. Once you have it you don't want to give it up.
I honestly belive that had Jedi remained rare we should have stayed UBER. Now that we are a regular profession I'm agree with the watering down. Of course it took me a long time to come to this point. withdrawl from the power addiction is a terible thing to go through.
To me Jedi were Jedi, not pre this and post that, I didn't care how people got there toon. You had a Jedi we were the same. Now we are in fact.
lotta ppl did a TON of grinding online for jedi. that means hours and hours, days and days, weeks and weeks and so on. SOE can say the overwhelming amount of jedi ruined the game but they also can say that people working on jedi paid SOE's bills. in one of the CU2 links they talked about the lack of new players sticking with SWG because the path to jedi was too long. so this is the answer they came up with. to me its wrong and a slap in the face for the vets.
i think that if its going this way that vet jedi need some kinda PvP perk and they need to at least start up the voting in the jedi enclave or have something thats jedi-only.

Existing Jedi feel this way because SOE made us this way.
We were always special. We are all special
We were always harder to get. Not hard enough it seemed.
We were always unique. Yeah, and when the day would comethat EVERYONEhad a jedi? Seems now that these changes were inevitable anyhow, simply by having the players all choose to be one proffession in the end due to being the most powerful.
We were always more powerful.
The grind to Jedi was 50x harder than any other profession. Like any MMO. Risk vs Reward. If I spend 400 hours questing to get that EPIC weapon and when I do and its no better than a weapon that can be purchased by any player with 10 minutes free time. IM GONNA BE PISSED!!!
That is what happend to SWG.
There is a really strange vibe on the forums today. Not like a normal day. I think most Jedi right now are caught in the headlights still.
Jedi, Jedi, bo-Bedi, Fananafana Fo Fedi, Mi my mo medi!!!
my answer to you would be, jedi, in star wars, has and always will be was a alpha class, period. bh s were always pawnt bh jedi.in swg jedi had not a 3 day grind, but alot more then a bh 3 day grind. and like me pre cu, almost a year grind. our weapons are not store bought, thats another 6 month grind lol. jedi are a alpha class get over it.
i ended my forum posts alot with, when jedi stopped blocking bullets, we werent playing star wars. FACT
even in he movies / books, obi- pawnt jango without a saber, physically pummeling him. lucky for him boba knew how to drive, or he wouldnt have escaped obi, who had no saber.
remember mace vs windu? swooosh lol
bh s didnt hunt jedi, bh s hunted smugglers. your actually playing a profession how it wa never intended, read the books. there is no bh vs jedi canon, just like there were no cm s. its being corrected now tho.
and if your a dedicated 3 day grind griefer, overpowered 12 year old, or just a bumbling fool that got off griefing others, i can only ask, did you get your second slot?? if not its just KARMA

well what we all missing here is this! they havent fully explained how the changes will effect each prof in detail, so no doubt by the time testing finished and all that, there will be a system in place to make yoru jedi stronger than normal, be it quest based acheivment etc... but for now we all jsut guessign so why dont we wait and see what happens when game actually changes,...just a thought.
Can anyone become a Jedi?
Yes, anyone can follow the path of the Jedi but like all professions mastery will require time and experience. The new Jedi profession will be equal in combat effectiveness with the other professions. It will still however deliver on the promise of the Star Wars Jedi mystique and will allow players to “live” as Jedi in the world of Star Wars Galaxies.
