Thread: Jedi as the so-called Alpha Class...
Everyone seems to think jedi is the alpha class in the game...I disagree...for many reasons but wanted to throw THIS post from the BH boards for discussion here...
I would like to avoid trolling and flames but i am sure that will not be honored so please be warned that I will report any post that cleary falls into that category...
All of the chest pounding aside what suprised me in the thread was the numbers of kills being mentioned against jedi...Just wanted to get some thoughts from the jedi point of view on this....

I agree with much of what you say...a good saber/components is aminimum requrementand PvP knowledge and knowledge on how to use your template is key...
Within the jedi community as a whole there can be a huge disparity in saber stats from jedi to jedi and obtaining adecent saber for many will be the most difficult task to complete given the pearl/crystal drops.
The PvP knowledge and templete knowhow that cuts pretty evenly on both sides but I would say the edge goes to the BHs right now given the broken skills currently in play for most jedi templates. All things being equal...the PvP knowledge and template knowhow really should be the determining factor along with some luck...
Its just getting to me.. all the jedi who claim to be weak and blah blah blah. Ive only been weak whenI had about 50 SP's invested. Once I got master saber, I didnt loose. Yes, I stocked up on premiums pre-cu, as I knewI would be jedi, so of course I wanted the best saber. I do understand the frustration with pearl/crystal tunes, but that will be remedied soon enough.
And I sound like a broken record, but remember, we are all padawans. I think the fact that some jedi are extremely powerful right now is scary, cuz how good will they be when ranked? Not all jedi are going to be an alpha class. It takes devotion and luck (tunes).
Ive noticed this too, i did some fooling around with my alt bh and hunted some jedi for the first time, i never got any kills probably cause i dont pvp and not very knowledgable of it, but i really enjoyed the stalking part of it. guessing where he was gonna go next, one case he was on lok and so i waited at starport he wasnt very far away anyways i could have drove to him, but after a while he got closer and closer and then there he was i took my shots, but man he must have had a sweet saber, totally destroyed me within seconds.(i found out later froma friend that he is one of best jedi on server so they say)but the fights were different with other jedi, i actually incapped one other jedi. you just never know now, it used to be all jedi were feared opponents, the envy of all, but now any player can basically turn almost any combat profession into a killer.
i dont think the jedi is the alpha class anymore, it is the hardcore players who are alpha class, and by hardcore i dont mean they play 14 hours a day, i meanthey are long time vets of the game and have a ton of experience in their profession that they turn it into an alpha class when they play it. im sure if some of these very experience players played a weak jedi they could play it like a strong jedi.
Please dont hold Maura up as an example of anything, either Jedi or BH.
Just ask any Jedi on Starsider about Maura.

i stocked up on pearls as well...but many cannot/could not...as far as a remedy to the pearl issue its is all speculation as well as for the FRS...no one knows when or if it will be returning and what it will entail so I avoid that in discussions...those crazy jedi you speak of are powerful due to the fact that they have pre-CU sabers and pearls...that is not the only determining factor but that is part of it...

you could be right...I was just interested in the discussion as a whole...alot of numbers were being thrown out...but what was missing was the losses though...I didnt see much discussion about that...it just made me curious...all of the animosity between the 2 professions has been getting stupid...especially lately...

they could fix the broken skills though...that would be a good start but they are in expansion mode right now...

This is one of the 2 great Jedi myths. Yes the quality of pearls does make some difference but nowhere near as much as many Padis would like to believe. Many still think that Premium pearls = God mode but they are going to get a real shock when the pearls start dropping again but the player still sux.
Those "crazy" jedi are players that know their template and know how to play this game. If they happen to have great sabres/pearls that is incidental to them being good players not the reason for it.
Myth number 2 (I have started so I'll finish) is that there are ANY Jedi in SWG. There are lots of Padis, anyone with a sabre and/or an altnow is a Padawan. Remember that room full of little kids that Anakin massacred in Ep 3 - they are Padis - they are the equivelant of anyone with a sabre and an alt now. Were they uber? 1 Knight wiped out hundreds of them on his own so I guess not. Do you think any one of them would have give Boba much trouble, I dont think so.
There will not be any Jedi in this game until the FRS comes back. Until then all force users must get over the fact that they are no more than rugrats in the context of the game and canon.
