Thread: Jedi vs Jedi bountys
I believe the pvp aspect of the new FRS will be closer to this than it is to the old.

No. Some Jedi templates are built for evasion, not for destruction of opponents. In a 100m x 100m arena Force Run is totally useless, for example.
those templates will never excel at the FRS it's too imbalancing, 100mX100m lockdown works fine.

Why wont they excel? Every template can excel if used with the right tactics - except Master Healer.
because it's imbalancing if cloaking is rewarded....which would force 90% into a cloak template.......whee....cloak gank wars.....oooh ooh, where do I sign up?

Well, a cloaker is missing offense, defense or healing, so in the time he is actually visible and trying to kill somebody else, he is at a disadvantage. Combat-wise, cloak is balanced. There is a reason why a lot of Jedi make it the last act of their grind to grind 3 million and drop cloak for another branch - they dont like having to hide and wait for good opportunities, they would rather be in their opponents faces all the time, which Force Cloak prevents them to do.
On another note: Force Cloak would still be useful in a 100m arena - Force Run would not.

yeah the FRS is a good one for this. But what i'm saying is an additional thing to the FRS that gives you missions against X jedi of the other side. Maybe this kill X jedi mission would have a higher payoff in FR XP, or maybe have it as a pre FRS, so that these Padawan can train PVP a bit.
I wouldnt like to see complete overpowering from one side or the other, so it would probably need to find you an oppenent of near equal stats and skills, but it could be a laugh, and maybe have it as a way to get nice crystals / minerals / new style holocrons / limited use LS pup or something off who ever gives you the mission (though some anti farm thing will need to be put in).
Also maybe you would have to include some timer delay before you can accept one mission and before you can take the next, as the jedi are meant to be a bit rare and I'm sure locating a target for who ever is giving you the mission will be a longer process than just the bounty hunter "pull a target froma hat" system of go after any jedi we know of, and also as its not all abouta payday thing in their eyes it would be down to finding a light jedi who is messing with your dark jedi plans, or a dark jedi who is doing damage to the force or whatever.
Also i think as to the whole lockdown to an area system, I think this should be in place anyway... but (before alot of people flame me out of excistance) how it should workis the same as i segested in other posts is that IF :
1) the fight lasts X ammount of time either party may not get out of X area or cloak or hide or whatever untill its settled.
OR
2) IF both fighters have attacked each other X number of times then same as above due to this clearly indicating that the jedi is going to fight rather than flee.
Of course with the exception of X ammount of time with no attacks happening OR trying to happen (attack out of range or not in sight dont count!)
Also i'm of the belief that if the target wins the fight he or she desearves a reward instead. Maybe not as big a reward as the BH / Jedi hunting them because of less effort on their part in the cat and mouse act, and the fact the same jedi may find himself the target of many jedi / jedi targets so could abuse the system if he or she has many jedi friends on the other side of GCW.

Force Run and Force Cloak are not escape-only skills. They can be used for hit-and-run tactics, and no Jedi wants a "lockdown" when a BH attacks, so why in Jedi vs Jedi?
Its about using surrounding to ones advantage, also. If I want to fight close to a river, I want to be able to run close to a river. If I want to fight in hilly terrain I want to be able to run into hilly terrain. Either the one wanting to kill me follows me, or he manages to stop me from running, or he leaves me alone.

Yeah in a way i can see your point that run and cloak arnt just escape skills. BUT the general use of cloak is just to disappear and recharge or hide, and surely as a mind trick anyway force cloak wouldnt work on other jedi for a couple of reasons. A) Mind tricks only work on the weak minded (so it really shouldnt be as effective as it is, cos i doubtall charsin game are "weak minded"). B) Jedi can sense your force presence aswell as see you. And as to force run, yeah it can mean you can quickly retreat and heal and then come back, but most people use it to run away, or chase down a fleeing BH / Jedi.
