Thread: SOE and Their Misconception of Jedi

Community relations, developers, producers, etc. (whoever is in charge):

There are a few problems I'd like to address:

1) NPC and creature AI - This update is flawed due to a full template Jedi being unable to solo a force-sensitive nightsister. It is not so much the new abilities (force aura, choke, armor break, etc.) that prevent this, but rather the extremely high health regen rate, low special action cost, and low mind cost. It appears as if the player community had asked that NPC's and creatures be given new attacks and abilities, but I do not think this included an innate increase in health regen rate. Players that once took pleasure in going off into the wildnerness on solo expeditions can no longer do that and are instead forced to group with other players. Being required to form a group to carry out certain tasksnecessary to your profession (i.e. crystal/pearl hunting) is not what induces a thriving social community--there are many other ways to accomplish such an objective, such as informal conversation at a cantina or starport, galactic trade, PvP wars, city development, base raids, live events, etc. I feel as if an aspect of Star Wars has been destroyed with this publish: the hermit, like Obi-wan. Simply stated, players should not be required to group in order to take on high-level NPC's or creatures.

2) Jedi profession - A one-month old master bounty hunter / master combat medic should not be able to kill, under most circumstances, a six-month old full template Jedi. This game has made Jedi equivalent in strength to normal professions. I do not believe this isthe image of a Jedi, or of Star Wars, that Lucas envisioned. As producers, it is your duty to maintain the essence of Star Wars.It seems as if theforce-sensitive grind and the Jedi grind serve no purpose now. There is no significant reward for becoming a Jedi now other than the fact that a player can show off a lightsaber or some neat powers--butcompared to other professions, there's really no advantage to those abilities, and there really should be. Perhaps this was part of a plan to detract people from the Jedi profession as a means to limit their numbers. If this was the case, then I think you have gone about it entirely the wrong way. Attempting to balance the professions, including Jedi, to appease to the player community at the sacrifice of Lucas' concept of a Jedi is very bad decision making on your part, and will only create more problems, complaints, and disputes within the game.

3) Force Ranking System - I now bring up a new issue, but also extend on my first and secondproblems because this is a possible solutionto it.FRSshould have never been disabled, for whatever reasons. There is a huge vacuum within the game now, and its origin lies with the inability to progress through the Jedi ranks. This is yet another example ofthe inabilityof the producers and development team to translate the Jedi concept from the movies and books into the game. To summarize the current status of the Jedi profession: many Jedi Padawans running around with nothing to do but wave their aquamarine and pink lightsabers around Theed. There is no variation in robes, no variation in special lightsaber crystals, and more importantly, no option to progress to Jedi Knight, Jedi Guardian, or Jedi Master--no option to become more powerful like the Jedi we have come to know outside of the game. It might be feasible for the player community to accept that a Jedi Padawanis only slightly stronger than a regular profession if they knew that a Jedi Knight was significantly stronger than a regular profession, that a Jedi Guardian was much stronger than a regular profession, and that a Jedi Master was no match for a regular profession.

With FRS reimplemented the exceptionally high health regen rate, low special action cost, and low mind cost on high-level NPC's and creatures will not be such a big deal. The Star Wars image won't be tarnished if a master bounty hunter / master combat medic kills a Jedi Padawan every now and then, because everyone knows that it was just a Jedi in training (no longer referred to as a full template Jedi) and that there are Jedi Knights around that won't let that happen so easily. This means that there is a benefit to spending many months working on the Jedi profession. Give them the robes, crystals, and powers they deserve for the time they have invested and you will have restored the essence and mystery of the Jedi to the game. They won't all be the same--not the same robes, not the same lightsabers, not the same power, not the same alignment. Thus far you have destroyed a part of Star Wars;very likelythe backbone and most important part. It is absolutely vital that you restore that or you will lose this game to the infamousand growing list of mediocre Star Wars games that have disappointed fans for so long.

"The war, the true war, has never been one waged by droids, warships or soldiers. They are but crude matter, obstacles against which we test ourselves. The true war is waged in the hearts of all living things - against our own natures. Light or Dark. sounds good, haven't read it all, but i agree, the Jedi profession is BH feed nowdays, anyone can get MBH in under 1-2 weeks if they are lazy grinders, and a Jedi has more or less grinded like 6-7 months they should at least be a bit harder to kill then now, i have seen a master Defender in a BH fight that lost due to the MBH/MCM, using some combat medical abilities and then just wasting the jedi without even the jedi blocking 1 single blaster bolt.

i have a Char that was BH/MCM and it was way to easy to kill NPCs and Players in PVP action so i changed to Rifleman/pistoleer and CM 4xxx, now at least the enemy bites back or even is a equal in battle.

I know some is going to say im whining, though i ain't as im stating some of the information you brought up in your thread here, and i wish you luck, and hopefully some of the SOE will acctualy read this.

May the force be with you young one.

very good, a little tweaking is needed but over all, a great post...

Its strange, when dr frankenstein created a monster, the first thing everyone wanted to do was kill it. You know, if they would have left it alone they wouldnt have had such a problem with it. Hey, where's my pitchfork and torch anyway?

wonder if this thread will get deleted?!?

community relations are at an all time low ... SOE, are you going to do anything other than rub the TOS in people's faces and claim that everything is fine?

this poster has made some great points. please read it.

I understand what you are getting at but just think of things in a diffrent light. ALL JEDI ARE PADS. Reguardless of wht their titles say they are pads. A full templated pad can stand their own better then most dbl elites but don't expect any major changes until FRS is even brought back.

I think Jedi should be Feared/ Respected

So many stupid people are still alive because it is illegal to kill them.
Anyone who says, "Trust Me" can not be trusted.
It is not what you are killing but what you are allowing to live.

/agree, needs some tweaking but 100% correct

and the Devs prefer MBH's to be more powerful than jedi, remember to them we are nothing more than content for the BH's

1) I agree - the additional regen was too much. Nightsisters and Bh marks and the like shouldn't be considered the same type of encounter as say a Krayt which really should require a group.

2) I partially disagree. There is a huge difference between a heroic Jedi figure such as Obi-wan anda regular Knight, which is what players are. Worse, these are Jedi without the benefit of structured training. It's wrong to talk about what Lucas' envisioned Jedi as since in his vision, there are only two alive at this time. It's honestly too late to talk about alpha classes and 1.5x more powerful. The game is overpopulated and that more than anything will now weigh in what is done.

3)I also agree with much of your FRS comments. Turning the system off was a mistake, regardless of how bugged it was, as it is taking too long to return. The problem with the FRS, old or new,is the desparity between Jedi and regular professions in pvp, leaving players feeling like they have to be Jedi to pvp. Simply putting the FRS back will only make exsisting issues worse, though. Something of a rock and a hard place.

I agree with the intention of an Elite Special Forces, but believe actually using such a system will create long term issues with content and balance.
