I came to a realisation today, it took me longer to grind Master Bounty Hunter over a year ago (bugs and all), including the then needed Master Marksman and Master Scout than it has to template as a Jedi. I feel for the Pre-CU Jedi Knights out there, and I can't help but feel this should somehow not been as easy as I found.
I got the game April last year, and of course like thousands of others I wanted to be a Jedi. I set to trying to get as much of the Holocron system done as I could, I scored Master Bounter Hunter as my first, and in the time it took my contemporaries (people who has started around the same time) to get 3-4 Holocrons done when I struggled to get Bounty Hunter mastered, I was playing for similar amounts of time and Holocrons ceased to work the day I finished Bounty Hunter.
Net result no credit for completing any Holocrons in the new Villiage system. A little bit disheartened I set to doing the Village but Mastering Bounty Hunter during all the bugs did for my taste for grinding I completed the quests but fell behind on the XP.
The month before the CU again like many others I made a concerted effort to unlock and suceeded in what I thought was good time. I had made my goal and was ready to casual game up to Knight status, however bieng on Chimeara I lost Jedi status and an Alt thanks to the Rollback, until finally a CSR fixed me back up and setting to enjoy the x4 XP to grind as much as I could, I suddenly find through bugs I was invisible which pretty much killed my ability to group, apart from a few occasions I found guild groups I could form and /makeleader, I got a CSR to fix it and whilst I had him in front of me I asked about the Respec gain system.
He replied it wasn't exactly what had been intended but they had made the decision not to penalise anyone for it. Oh and for the record my ability to Respec had been unavailable for the first two weeks after CU until the same CSR was able to rectify that too.
I completed my template and now I see people bieng greatly upset by this, I am of two minds, yes I have made my Jedi Template very quickly (despite respeccing problems etc, I made a fair few branches without it) but there are also a great many people who found the path to make Jedi one hell of a lot easier than I did (as I know full well many that found it a lot harder than I). I guess I could jump on the grenade and surrender a fair portion of what some would call "unearnt" Jedi Skill boxes, but then I'm just dealing with a long grind to get Jedi, and an even longer one to get it.
TBH I'm not a Jedi to be "Elite" in terms of power or prestige, I am a Roleplayer first and foremost and that has been my goal all along. I am intruiged by the notion of PvPing as it is not something I have really gotten involved with so far, but whatever I do with Jedi I just want to have fun, pure and simple.
On account of it bieng silly o'clock in the morning I am rambling but I would be interested in hearing others thoughts. I have the greatest respect for any achievments played in the game pre-JTL BHs, Pre Bugfixed BHs, Pre Mount BHs, 20+ Profession Hologrinders, Pre-CU Jedi Knights, Death Watch Bunker Veterans. So I am not looking to put noses out of joint.
My single proudest moment in the game personally, wasn't anything to do with much in game achievment at all, but when say huddled in a Starport myself and a few other lost souls were discussing IC the state of the Universe a Wookie that hated Jedi running around the place sent me a tell. Simply saying I was the only Jedi he ever met he actually liked ( I was waiting on the server rollbacks to be fixed ). It made me swell with pride to think simply by RPing I had made a Jaded old Wookie tired at seeing so many Jedi running around that it had little meaning to him, feel that in one Jedi the force flowed strongly. I digress I would just like some ideas on these tired ramblings.

Can we get off the repec Jedi's backs and post on things we actually need. For example MLS to actually be better then 4004 or drain getting some form of cost. Maybe Powers being worth a darn.
I don't get it. I was a Full Template (Double Master) Knight before the CU. They changed the system. Why? Because people wanted group interaction. So what if the new Jedi learned the new system quickly and ground out templates quickly. With 3 tanking full temp jedi now 5 low paddies can gring out insane experience very quickly. Its called changing the game mechanics. Personally I am glad there are more high level Jedi now And these are the reasons why:
When FRS comes back that means I have more I can kill for FRS. Thisinstead of looking for and fighting the same 10 jedi all the time.
More dynamics. I get tired of fighting th same Jedi over and over.
You know if focused our efforts on getting fixes rather then whiningabout the new Jedi we might actually be taken seriously by the devs.

we dont know what the FRS will involved now. It may actually be more quest based which would be better than mindless pvp killing.

I would prefer something more quest-based with NPC jedi to kill for the lightside instead forced PvP - leave the PvP to the GCW as much as possible and the darkside jedi can continue to kill each other as it seems more in line with their RP

I'm hoping that they remove forced PvP entirely from the game. It should be there for those who want it, and who enjoy it.
But I got Jedi because I wanted to PLAY a Jedi... I want to protect the weak, promote justice, and do good for the light side... The whole way you get to Jedi is just so wrong, I mean, Luke didn't go out and slaughter 25,000 pikets to grind FS between ANH and ESB after all!
I think they should make the whole thing quest based, with the actions you choose determining whether you follow the light side (Jedi), or fall to the dark side (Sith). They can make it take as long as it does now by limiting how often you can move on to the next quest, etc.

MLS is actually quite a bit better than 4004. THe advantages are many if you know what you are doing with it.

Oh yes I am MLS and yes I know how to use it and my template. There is a reason why in my guild I am them one that goes out Krayt hunting alone. People being around just complicates the process especially with the healing bug. Anyway my point is why are we whining about respec Jedi. So what if it took me 6 months to get a full template before the CU. If the new guys got lucky then so be it. I am sure some of the pre-cu Knights respeced their alts to something they liked.

How do the nine new professions relate to the existing profession templates? Knowing this could be a difficult transition for many of our players, we have lined-up several options to help make this as easy as possible. First, you will be allowed to choose any one of the nine professions and transition to that profession at a level commensurate with your current level. For example, if you are maxed-out at level 80, you will transition over as a level 80 character into your profession of choice. Veterans (all players having started their characters before the enhancements are introduced) will receive nine review (“re-spec”) opportunities that allow them to sample the new professions before making a final decision. This gives everyone the opportunity to try out each of the new professions at least once at their current skill level. In the event you are unhappy with your choice of profession, you can “re-spec” and try out one of the others until you find the one you like best or until you are at your final opportunity. **IMPORTANT** Note that there are a total of ten (10) re-spec charges (opportunities), but one is “used-up” on the initial transition, so players will then have nine charges left after choosing their initial iconic profession.
Does this mean when the changes come, anyone with a level 80 toon can respec to the level of a Jedi who has grinded for several months to unlock?

and i thought there were too many jedi now =(.
Why the hell would anyone respec to jebay who wasn't already one? Anytime I get the urge to grind FS, I just jump on the jedi forums and get a dose of your guys' reality. I for one, have no intention.
