Thread: Some new jedi help?
I unlocked my jedi the other day. I'd like some help regarding my earlier professions. (Goal template is something like MLS, M Enhancer, Healer 4400).
Current temp:
Novice healer
Novice Lightsaber
Master Rifleman
Master BH (don't hit me, have never even touched a jedi
CL: 80
Skillpoints left: 12
I will have to start dropping skills very fast when I start to advance. And I think that novice brawler is nice to have, right? And maybe medic? As a new padawan that is.
Can you please give me some suggestion in which order I should drop things? And what I need to know about CL as a jedi. Would be very glad for your input.
Regards
Oakes - Starsider Jedi (3 october)
EDIT: Healer 4400 I meant, not 2200 of course! thanks for pointing it out!

Well a good start is knowing what it is you want your template to be ![]()
Now although i have not been a paddy for a while it used to be that as you advance up a full tree in the beginning ( for instance sabers 0040 ) your xp would rise. There fore, if this still holds true under the current system i would get at least 0040 in sabers, for the spin attack. Your damage output will still be low, meaning that you shouldn't be the one taking most of the damage in a spin group.
Next, carry ruby bliel and good stims with you and get healer 4000 if you can, this at this stage is so you can look after yourself if the going gets tough.
Make yourself fully away of the visability rules. this will stand you in good stead throughout your grind.
Here is something that you may find of some use, and worth considering when grinding.
Pre-cu jedi used to grind alone, it was slow and boring. Post cu you have the ability to grind in a group, its alot more fun, and takes some of the pain out of the xp needed. Generally these grind groups happen on planets that are populated, and more often than not, out of player cities now.
Pre cu to avoid flybys and such we used to hunt out on endor, dath, yavin etc. We knew that by hunting on populated planets the increase to gaining visability was going to rise considerablly. That was a choice / risk many took as the advantage back then was having a doc nearby to rez if you died (jedi used to lose 200k xp for cloning) a doc so you could buff up, a safe house / cantina and a dancer for the mind buffs.

Pre cu a jedi learnt to be aware of every thing around them and what to do, trust me you only tended to make a few mistakes before you learnt what to do, those that didn't learn were hunted continuously. Eventually those that couldn't cut the mustard quit the proffession, realising that jedi wasn't for them.
We learnt to watch the radar, have ctrl m up, have field of view turned up full, at the first sign of a dot we would stop using the saber and force. We learnt what a BH liked to do, and the many types of attacks they could form.
Post cu my guild has alot of padawans in it, we still practise mock attacks, we still teach them about the radar etc, some paddys embrace BH attacks, some are not far ahead enough to be able to look after themselves. We tell these paddys to stay hidden, stay safe. Those paddys have not got on the terms.
But i have to say that post cu Jedi are not being taught the essential skills of awarness, and this is where alot of them fall down. They are not being taught the visability rules and its getting them into serious trouble.
The Jedi grind has gone from a solo affair to a group affair, times have changed and its up to us, the fully templated to lend support and give advice when needed. That is all we can do, its up to the padawan whether they take the advice or not.
Weak tunes are an issue, but this is where the guild steps in, we have a master / padawan relationship in the guild to foster strong bonds. also to help with the gathering of decent tunes, and advise on template questions and tactics.
Even a fully templated Jedi can lose to a BH if they have not got the right set of counter skills, but this is what adds to the diversity of Jedi. There is no point imo of asking for things to be changed because a jedi died, because he / she did not choose the counter skill set. The chances are that another day, a different BH will come along with a different skill set and the same Jedi will beat him / her.
Alot of Padawan's get cloak and drop it later on when they are stronger. This is something you may wish to consider.
Channel should be a skill that you get early on.
Force run 1 at least should be on this list.
Once you have spin attack, good heals, channel and force run ( possibly cloak ) I would go back to working on your lightsaber skills. Become a master with the lightsaber, then work on the rest of enhancer.
Above all have fun, and good luck

With regard tothe above post! WWW. YOU_GOT_OMG_WTF_PWND.COM
Keep in mind though, that you can goMLS, MEnh, 4400 Heal (not just 2200 heal)
Just gonna add a few hints and tips for newbie Jedi, things I have picked up myself in the last month or so...
- Firstly, as soon as you complete the saber crafting initiate trial, go get your 20k Jedi xp. It's tough, you need to use beserk or you'll be at it all week, but as far as I am aware, you cannot get on the BH terminals, so you can grab the first box's xp in complete safety. However, I would still do it alone, buffed, and armoured. Time to get into good habbits.
- Secondly, when you complete the trials and get your robes, NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER show anyone your robes or saber (don't even equip your saber in front of other people), not once, not even for a second, not even your alts, your guildies, your best friend, the doc that buffs you or even other Jedi. No showing off, unless you want to make your life even harder than it's about to get. Write a macro that will /clearCombatQueue, /peace, and then change your weapon and clothing to something less conspicuous, just in case some bloody npc spawns under your nose. You need to get into the habbit of only ever wearing your robe and equipping your saber when you are alone, and by alone I mean at least 2k from another player. They key to survival is to be a ghost, fail that, you're going to have a tough time. Got a BH on your case? You screwed up, don't blame the BH. Stay invisible, stay safe!
- If you do get hunted and killed, take it like a man, no hate tells, no revenge, just accept it. Trying to get back at the BH won't help, you'll just get yourself hunted more, possibly stalked. Until you hit Master LS, the BH have all the advantages. If you survive or escape, do not log in until a friendly BH gives you the all clear and you're off the terms, because you will be hunted.
- Force bar being eaten up like candy in a fat kids mouth? Get ALL of the five novice boxes, even if you don't intend to keep them for the final template. They're cheap as chips at 20k xpeach, and give you 200 force and +1 regen each. Plus, some come with added benefits, like Force healing your health for 500pts even if your BF is 1000, or some ranged and melee defence. It all helps
stolen from Ithiris hehe some of it may not apply so much anymore btw

Here's what I recommend:
1. Dump rifle and BH and put it into MTK/Swords/Doc4000
2. Keep novice LS and novice enhancer, drop the rest.
3. grind LS up the point where you can spin attack and no more. This will allow you to play in spin groups. If you don't want to do spin groups, then drop Novice LS for now and pick up novice powers.
First go for enhancer. Build the tree that gives you force run first. Then do the first force healing tree. After that the force armor line, then meditation, then the other till you get master. At this point finish healing and then do lightsaber.
The secret to grinding is to save up your XP till you max and then train an entire line at all once. This will keep your jedi skill box count low reducing any xp loss from BH deaths as much as possible.
Drop the swordsman skill points as you need to then the doctor, and finally the TK at that point you'll be full temp!
Now here's the trick: In a spin group you'll get crazy xp and you'll have a lightsaber equipped. The TK/swords/doc combo is only there in case a BH shows up. The reason why I recommend this template for paddies is that you have mad heals, innate armor, and high defensive skills. You'll be hard for a BH to take down. Basically, ifa BH shows up, you drop your saber and hit your macro that loops COB, bacta infusion, and sword flurry while you fight or plan your escape. If you stick with your current template, you'll have to drop saber, don armor, equip weapon, blah, blah, die. By the time you get ready to fight you're dead.
Also, remember the key to grinding is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT THE BH, JUST NOT DIE! Many paddies forget this and get beat down regularly. The key to this strategy overall is that it keeps you as strong as possible and gives you some great exit strategies to stay alive.
If you're not doing spin groups, then novice powers is much better. why? because you don't need a lightsaber to grind so you can keep COB looped all the time (BTW Master Power/TK is a wicked cool combo!). All you do is hit the mob with a mind hit and let your friends cleanup the mess. You still have the tk/swords/doc combo for BH if they show up.
Trust me this is a great approach and works extremely well. I have a friend grinding off this temp right now (he has novice powers, doesn't do the spin group thing) and he's loving it. I'm going to do the same with my alt once I get around to finishing up my next 25 million unarmed xp to finally unlock.
Interesting idea. But do you really think it's worth the trouble grinding two full master professions? Maybe it is? What are you others' thoughts on this?
