/agree i remember when i grinded some healing xp for village for my last branch and tbh it made me feel like leaving the game.

Sorry posted this in an earlier thread but wondered what the players in general thought about this....

I have often thought - 'why dont SOE ban macros from running any moves that cause damage to a target?'

The above change would allow dancers and crafters to macro as before, ensure that comatants can run their 'change clothes', 'eat food', 'duelist stance/aura' type macros but would stop:

1) AFK combat grinders
2) Attack speed exploiters

It would also help by ensuring that the winner of a fight is a player at the keyboard clicking the right move at the right time rather then a player with the best macro.

Any views or flames?

Why should they? It is as logical as banning dance macros, since they also earn xp.

Why be bothered at all of those that grind AFK (including all profession from combat orientated to entertainers). Just leave them and join a group and have fun instead.

2) Attack speed exploiters
This will be fixed/tweaked as long as the game is on. It will take time and it doesn't matter much to try them fix it fast, because then we will end up with even more bugs

Any views or flames?

Do you believe that AFK combat grinders are a good thing for the game? Do you not feel that there should be some sort of check to ensure that someone is at the keyboard and playing the game rather then being carried?

It may just be me but AFK combat grinding is like going for your driving test but having your instructor in the driving seat - yes you get to the end of the test and pass but have you done anything or learnt anything?

Surely if they made this change a long time ago the number of full template jedis showing off in NPC cities would be lower, the ryatt trail would not have been nerfed making the kill wookie section the way it was originally intended and yes they may fix the speed cap problem eventually but surely if they sorted the macro's running attack moves the problem would also be fixed and perminantly fixed.

might be hard to stop just attack ones, comeone could do the /target then /follow then the npc etc attacks them and the player would auto attack back. if they where going to take them out they would have to take all macros out for it to work imo.

I dont think any kind of AFK grinding is good. But it don't bother me since I rather have fun with friends ingame than spill my nergy over someone grinding AFK. That is true but in a group of eight only a one or so would get hit by the NPC and it would only be them to auto attack back.

The majority of the group would not get any xp as they wouldnt auto attack the target also the way the AFK grinding works is based on low level hitters all hitting the same target at once in order to take the enemy down quickly.

Most padawans wouldnt have the power to solo follow the NPCs and grouping would not generate the same level of xp as before (as they cant guarantee an auto attack back) - making it quicker to be at the keyboard!

if they brough npc bhs into the game it would helps with this, as npc bhs could just spawn and target jedi their after and just kill them as the jedi would be killing the other npcs, and his little afk jedi m8s couldnt help.

But you dont need to move around with your spin macro do you? You just need to have your macro putting the group leader on follow and tell it to attack whatever he's attacking.

Combat macros are allowing people to get profs without putting any effort in, they are like going for your driving test, sitting in the back seat and having your instructor drive for you.

The question is why do you have to use your spin macro? can you not just put spin on auto attack or click the button? Is the reason that while your characters spinning you are in the bath or cooking dinner?

Combat moves in macros have lead to a large number of nerfs in this game - the Ryatt trail wookie mission is no longer as intended due to AFK grinders, the macros are being used to hit targets faster then the timers should allow and some Jedi even have the cheek to grief BHs for killing them while AFK grinding.

Do you not feel that macros without attack moves would make fights fairer, they would be based more on your speed, skill and knowledge of your moves rather then who has written or been sent the best macro? Maybe its just me but i PLAY galaxies to feel that i have improved my character and earnt his new skills, surely if you just want to watch your computer doing it for you then you are better off buying a DVD and watching that.

Can you list five good reasons why attack moves in macros should be allowed?

Unfortunately the speed exploit you mentioned is performable without macros, so that would not be stopped.

Also, I happen to believe that macros are a helpful part of the game - pressing every key can become intensly dull (not to mention watching the timers), and people like to chat freely during combat.

Because SoE know the majority of the players like macros, especially power gamers. And who cares if people afk grind? Why dont you get a life and worry about yourself!
