Two "Bounty Hunters" came after me the other night. To make a long story short, I slaughtered both of them, twice over, actually.
Anyway, I noticed something strange. I had been in my house when the two teal dots arrived on my doorstep. I did a quick examine on both of them and noticed that neither one bore the badge, "has Mastered the Bounty Hunter Profession."
Now, I'm no dummy, and seeing as how they were armored and carrying Scatter Pistols, I hadmy suspicionsdespite the fact that they didn't have the badges. I popped my food, stepped outside, and went to work.
At any rate, has this happened to anyone else? Being attacked by BH's without the badge? I'm guessing they might have been respec BH's (as most are nowadays), but I thought that the respec gave the badge...or am I mistaken? It still requires Mastery to hunt players, right? Or was this a "stealth change" that I missed out on?

Possibly OLD timers from before the badge system.
I have 10 professions that I didnt get a badge for.

If you astill have token respec it wont let u gain any master badges.

they may have just came back to CU and still have 2 week respec (thus not the badge) but 2 turning up at once seems fishy

If they had just come back to the game and got their initial respec period, the badges will not appear till it is over.

I don't think you get a badge for anything you /respec to until you use your token respec and can no longer respec. THink my alt had this problem...anybody know for sure?

I'm from these times and if I remember correctly the badge system was put in place before they added LLC's, so all MBH should have the badge. Probably a Respec bug.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't really think this was an exploit or anything, but I found it kind of strange all the same. It's probably just the respec thing.

ahhh, just write a macro that does...
/duel;
/endduel;
I don't think this is an exploit though it could be, but all it tells you is if the player can attack you or not.
Can I get a confirmation on whether this is an exploit or not?

No,it wasn't.You were able to wear the title over your head,but they didn't show up as badges for some time still.Many people never got credit for mastery of professions unless they re-mastered it after those badges were brought into the system

This actually happened to me last night. Although one out of the two had an MBH tag. My jedi was afk our city cantina while I was attending to business on another character on my second computer. All of a sudden I hear the combat music go and I glance over to see my jedi has been teffed out of the cantina and is being fired upon by a BH. I quickly put on my macros and start whaling on the BH when I see a second red dot. Thinking it is a droid I didn't think much about it until my health began dropping fast. I then see it is another BH blasting away at me. Needless to say, I ran around the back of of the cantina and cloak to regroup and assess the situation. Which turns out to be two BH with good weapons opening up on me.
I have about 50k xp left before I finish my template so rather than risking the loss of 400k+ xp points I ran around until the tef wore off then bolted into my house. There I was able to examine each BH and encountered what you are speaking of....one of them did not have MBH in is character sheet yet there he was red and attacking me.
One BH stood outside my house while the other dropped off my screen. The one outside was a MBH/MCarb so not seeing the second one I went outside to kill this guy. Two hits into the fight the other BH pops from cover and starts shooting so I cloaked and ran off again into another safe house. This time the covered BH sends me a tell saying good luck with the first guy because he is leaving and if I don't believe him to have a guildie check it out. Don't see him and wait another 10 min. and still don't see him so I run outside engage the one in front of the house and "pow" the guy popped out from cover again. I cloak again and bolt into my house while calling the one that sent me a tell a liar.
Basically, I am bothered by the fact that this guy did not have MBH in the examine window and that this is the second time in a week that I was attacked by two BH at once (aren't 2v1's supposed to be rare now).
Tonight I will get the remainder of my xp and train. If both the BH that came for me last night want to come back you are most welcome because I will stay and fight. One admitted to having a jedi alt so it is likely that they are reading this. I won't mention any names but you know who you are and I look forward to this fight when I don't have quite as much at stake as last night.

yeah ive had it happen to me. but i agree with the other posters, they must have a respec lef.t
