Thread: I think CU2 has been worked for ever since they put away the FRS
i don't think this was planned... they would not develop an entire squad leader revamp just to scrap it.
i guarantee that the upper level executives at sony decided to start calling the shots regarding the game to see if they might salvage the project before they shut it down. i do not expect these forums to be active in 30 days. give or take a few weeks maybe.
Yes it was planned, pearls gone, FRS gone, Loot gone, GCW gone.....it was obviouse the developers were preoccupied with something else.
clearly they pulled this out of there a$$ as a last ditch. There is no way they would make a whole new squad leader publish, and be working on a ranger upgrade. Im with the upper post, people with more authority stepped in, looked at the numbers came to the conclusion that this game was going down the drain, now they are looking to shift some stuff and try to milk as much money out as possible and have as little damage as possible.

It had to have been planed, think about it. There is no way at all that a major game revamp could have been coded in less then 6 months. To do it with much greater speed would require hundreds if not thousands of Coders, artists and designers to achieve.

I don't think they planned to launch it this early, there was no sign of this, we knew they would do something drastic, but this is insane considering one day no one had a clue about this and the next day people are packing there bags and getting on the next train outta town.

Indeed, it's possible it has been released ahead of time. Numbers have been dropping, I've noticed it on Gorath atleast. And with regards to the suggestion that they wouldn't have released the SL revamp I disagree. The SL may have been a complex dupe, they may have considered it worth doing. Just my opinion though, for what it's worth

so the first combat upgrade was for sh*ts and giggles???

Thats what I told my guildmates; that it was just a joke. During the Alpha the original plan was scrapped due to a deadline, had that deadline not been put on the game by LA, it may have been like this earlier.

Hmm, the only way I think this revamp could have been done quickly is if alot of the code has been ripped directly from another game. KOTOR comes to mind, but not likely. Remember SOE recently took over MxO which has some very interesting combat modes (Freefire and Interlock).
Food for thought.
