Thread: I am terrified to grind another template that is later found to be not working as intended

I am not saying YOU do this, but it is the going trend in this game that if a player has an ability that wins the day, you cry about it.
I am tired of playing a game that has no basis on factual real life rules. In real life there is an alpha class.
There are abilities someone has simply because he worked for those.
What is the point of working your way up to a profession that continually gets "balanced" for the sake of "fair play" when we all know that reality does not reflect this?
Where's the fun in that?
I think this is starting to stink of socialism where people who work the hardest are penalized even moreso for the sake of "fairness" while the ones who are weaker and dare I say lazy enough to not grind, are rewarded with a "balance" that ultimately brings everyone to the same level.

If I wanted reality, I wouldn't play a game but instead get a second job. I don't want real rules in a game I play for enjoyment.
If you want reality in the game, then 80% of the wealth will be controlled by 20% of the population (and that is if you are an American). All minority species would be at a disadvantage for loot and be targeted more for scans by the law enforcement and recieve a harsher penalty if found 'guilty.' Most toons would be regulated to working at Star-mart or K-Star for minimal wage instead of wandering around on dangerous planets. And let us not forget, if you die in the game, your character is wiped from the database and all your belongings is confiscated by the Empire and sold off. There are some reality rules for you.

I've already had to regrind my template several times in the past year cause of this idea that skills "are not working as intended".
Are we going to get another nerf whenjedi start using another skill that weaker players can't beat?
You know they will nerf Stasis when the Dev's start saying, "Well we never meant it as a means to escape, bla bla bla..."
Why can't we encourage individual thought instead of making everyone conform to one mold or in SOE's words "as intended"??
Again.... Welcome to Jedi man-- and get this (some of us never had respecs and also 200k in the hole with incap/death) lol--- wow Imagine that -- Trust me its cake now to change templates)...
But this is Jedi--- its always changing always getting worse.

Trace...This is why I have said, since the beginning, to find a template that plays to your own personal strengths. Look at your playstyle when you were playing elites. Which professions did you feel the most comfortable with and what tactics worked best for you. Base your template on that, not what anyone else is doing. If you are comfortable and effective in a playstyle, you will be more effective with that style of a jedi.
Yeah... and when you find it... prepare for another grind... cause another "not working as intended" suddenly will come...
Jacella very constructive thoughts. And indeed I am in that template now that no one else has as far as Jedi goes.
I've got a unique template that fits my playstyle completely.
I am so tired of regrinding a template that is later nerfed cause of the inabilities of weaker players.

The Devs dont know!
I do. Gulf War, OIF, Afghanistan, Bosnia...and many more.
What do you want to know?
Oh man that was a great post. Makes good sense.
But how really are these people able to wake up in the morning if they can't figure out how their alarm clock is suppose to work?
Excellent post. We can bring this back even further though...what is the intended role of Jedi.

The underlying problem is that the Devs in their infinite wisdom dont actually state what "intended" is. They've never said what the role of Master Powers is. People infer its crowd control etc from the abilities - but as this latest Dev statement shows, what seems obvious from the players perspective does not relate to what this mysterious Dev Intent actually is.
So why dont they tell us what "Intended" actually is? Then we can play the character we want, safe in the knowledge that the carpet wont be pulled from under us.
Well, we wont get to know this for one simple reason.
The Devs dont know!
Thats right, they dont have a master plan or some overarching design spec for the game. Sure they have some half baked CU docs, but these are piecemeal for the game. They dont factor in Jedi or the FRS. They dont factor in the strength of toons solo vs grouped support, for xping or high end PvE.
And for PvP, they dont contain the Rock, Paper, Chainsaw principle that was eluded to before the CU went live.
They cant tell us this cos they have no clue. Its ad hoc ideas at SOE HQ. Some bloke comes up with a random idea and pushes it live. They dont fix bugs or make the game work, they just shove random changes out to keep people on their toes.
Even simple things have not been stated, such as what is the relationship between the various Jedi trees. For example (my thoughts only). Is MLS the "physical" mastery thus strong against MEnhancer which is strong in Force Defence. Whereas Defender is strong in "physical" attacks but weaker than enhancer vs force attacks. Where does Healer sit? Or more strategic questions such as should Powers be stronger vs Non-jedi than Jedi such that Powers should be able to beat most non-jedi but struggle vs Jedi.
Some of these things you may think are true now, some not so. But the point is, there is no Dev INTENT stating how its supposed to work. All they do is nerf stuff and make retro changes with the excuse that its "not as intended". They want to make us feel they know what they are doing.
The truth is, they dont have a clue whats going on and hope to just muddle through it making money as they go.
Jacella I just wanted to pose a question, do they teach you in modern warfare tocryat the enemy when they use a tactic that ultimately wins the day?
