This is the official visibility statement from Sony.

Each of the following Jedi-relation actions has an associated Jedi Visibility Modifier:

-Equipping a Lightsaber.

-Initiating Combat with a Lightsaber equipped.

-Using any Jedi-related skills that consume Force power.

All PCs and all non-animal NPCs that observe a Jedi performing any of the above stated actions (observed as defined as within 32 meters) will contribute to an increase in the Jedi's Visibility Value (JVV).

-An opposing faction member who views this action will add the full value of the action to the Jedi Visibility Value.

-A Neutral PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 50 percent of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.

-A same-faction PC or non-animal NPC will increase the JVV by 25 percent of the action's Jedi Visibility Modifier.

Being grouped with a PC or non-animal NPC who is viewing this action has no influence on how Jedi Visibility is obtained. This has changed.

There was some extensive testing done at one point by some members of the Jedi community, unfortunately I can't locate the post. They found out things like *activating* Force Run will cause vis, but once it's active it will not, also the pre-CU auto-attack did not cause vis. Having your robes or saber already equipped will not add vis, having a Jedi title displayed will not add vis.

I was one of the Jedi that did testing on this. I followed these rules and NEVER got on the terminals unless I wanted to. My alt checked for my mission (and two other BH's during the testing) and found that the testing proved the points listed.

Everthing is correct - however, with the "new" constant drain of force run, it will cause visibility during the entire time it is activated.

Robes do not cause visibility taking them on or off. period. You are not using force in doing so, (your force bar will grow larger or smaller, however, no force is actually used), therefore, no visibility.

Rule of thumb, move your mouse cursor over the dot on the radar. It will be two things:

Character - WILL cause visibility (NPC's)

Enitity - WILL NOT cause visibility (animals, droids)

Warning - some NPC's (like vendors, the ones in the wookie caves, and some standing in the starports, vendors, TRAINERS) will not show up on the radar display. However, if you target them, they will then pop up on the radar, and they will be characters, and they will cause visibility.

BH missionsare suppose to fail after someone gets to the Jedi first and kills the Jedi. This is not working (bugged?)(per JustG convo in chat)

Jedi visibility is suppose to reset to zero after a BH kills the Jedi. The value of the Jedi is suppose to be lowered after a kill so the Jedi is not to appealing to a BH. This is not working. (bugged?/JustG convo)

If a Jedi wins against a BH, that BH is suppose to lose the mission (not confirmed), however, the sameBH can get the mission again off the terminal. (unknown if this is happening after the CU) All other BH's with the mission still have them (three day period).

Fighting a BH will cause more visibility if you use force. This is why there is no reason to stand and fight unless you have nothing to lose from dying. (ie full template)

It takes three weeks to remove all visibility if you don't do anything to cause more visibility.

Depending on how much you gained, this time varies (on drive by will only probably take 20 mins to decay for example) Only the three week number is confirmed.

BH missions are gone after three days. Only three BH's can get your mission currently (post-CU). They only get your name with the seeker droid, so if your not on the same planet, the BH will not have your name till they are.

Group members do not cause visibility. HOWEVER, the rules still apply to NON-GROUP members. So if your group is attacking NPC's and you use Jedi skills - you just got vis. If you walk into the MOP with your Jedi skills activating, you just got vis.

You can go into Jedi XP debt for -10 Million points. You can only bank+4 million Jedi XP. A full template Jedi will lose 448K of Jedi XP on deathblow from BH that has their mission (2K * skillpoint in Jedi skill)

All Jedi attacks with saber/powers will cause visibility.

I just saw a thread where someone was confused on how visibility actually works. I have asked for a list of current rules from theDevsbut no reply. Lets try to build a list of visibility rules here. Please be serious and lets get a working list together to help out the newer Jedi. Thanks.

what i learned about vis when i become a jedi was

never show any powers infront of npc, player ,droid, trainer ,vendor or any of that kind

then dont equip your robe or saber in front of the same

as we got no group vis then i supose it is not counted while you are in group

I was under the assumption the devs have NEVER given a full list of how you get visibility. I have heard if you do anything "Jedi-like" within 45 meters of any NPC you gain vis. What kind of NPC depends on how much you accrue. Ex. you are Rebel an Imperial sees you you get full, rebel npc you get 25%, neutral NPC you get 50%. These are not confirmed numbers but a good place to start.

AFAIK it's about the following:

Don't equip/unequip saber or robes within 32 meters of a player or npc that you're not grouped with.

Same restriction on force skills. Tuning a crystal is also a force skill.

Easiest way to identify if something would cause you to gain visibility, hover the mouse over their dot on the radar, if they are classed as "character" they would cause you to gain visibility.

EDIT: Faction of the npc/player determines the amount of visibility you gain.

FYI, I copied this from a post I made way back when, as far as I know the basic rules of visability have not changed.

You will only receive visability if you do certain force related moves/specials or actions within the general visability range (32m). However i like to keep safe and dont generally kill or do anything if there is a PC or NPC within about 60m, just to be safe.

From my month experience of running GVT missions, this is what i gathered:

Things that give Visability:

1. Equiping/Unequiping a lightsaber within 32m of a PC or NPC will generate the related amount of visability.

2. Igniting a lightsaber within 32m of a PC or NPC will generate the related amount of visability.

3. Performing any special that consumes Force Points within 32m of a PC or NPC will generate the related amount of visability.

4. Performing any Force Powerwithin 32m of a PC or NPC will generate the related amount of visability.

Things that will NOT give Visability:

1. Holding an already equiped saber (granted you equiped it out of the 32m vis range).

2. Performing a force power such as Force Run out of the 32m range then running up to a PC or NPC. This changed when they changed the way force run works.

3. Equiping/Unequiping/Wearing your robes.

4. Running missions does NOT grant visability,I have completed about 1000 GVT missions.

This is my view on vis from a months experience. This includes being on the terminals, having drivebys, turning on force run outside theed then running through, walking around with my robes and saber equiped (occasionally, mostly for RP events and screenies with friends).

Some of what I say is out of date, but the points on vis should be the same.

Hmm I think (un)equipping the robe does give visibility though.

I agree with you, since your force is adjusted +250, as and far as i know, everything that makes your forcebar move gives vis within 32m of a player or NPC.

From my 8 months of experience PreCU, robes did NOT generate visability, however this could have changed when they changed the way the robes add the force. SOE does have a habbit of changing the smallest things.

Let me ask this....walking passed an NPC or another playerwhile cloaked...will that casue visibility?

And if you are in your private house meditating and a player walks by house, within 32m of you, does that cause visibility?

Yes, you are draining your force while cloaked, thus generating visabilty within your 32m radius.

And if you are in your private house meditating and a player walks by house, within 32m of you, does that cause visibility?

This, I have no difinative answer for as I never really tested this. I would recomend as it does involve regenerating your force, if you are worried about visabiliy, do not do it. I could be wrong as I believe the basis for visability is on abilities that "consume" force. Do not hold me to this though.
