Thread: What do cloakers do now?

Upcoming to SWG:

1) Rangers can now cloak themselves, and members of their groups.

2) The Rifleman's Cover ability and a Jedi's Force Cloak now adhere to a common rule-set that falls in line with the new hiding/stealth system introduced with the Ranger revamp.

As for 2), this hints that Jedi will now have changes made to the way cloak works, most likely a nerf (Rangers might be able to break a Jedi's cloak?)

What is going on here???

How can you say you've lived life if you've never danced?
Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
Thanks SOE! The CU and NGE gave me my life back. Thanks! Bitterness is the taste of love lost, a tear of acid that burns the heart.
Long gone, in sorrow of song. Stand I make to deliver hope with twisted temporal past, for the ripples in time distort what affects when. Prowlies a must see Clicky!
As a dreamer I sing to the sea and imagine the possibilities and potential this game could free, but when I get home a sad sight there be. A lost fool, for once was is gone, what could've been to never be, and the angel of my heart to be forgotten, locked away by the key of SOE.

IF the Ranger enhancements are really going to be what they say they are. I think Bounty Hunters have just gotten their Boba Fett template.

Jedi are going to be in some serious trouble if their issues don't get resolved before those ranger enhancements go into the game.

Nah .. I saw it on too -- it's on the 'in development' board or something. I forget exactly where. I had that same concern about them changing jedi cloak, but don't have any information on whether that is going to happen or whether Rangers are just getting a weaker version of it. Rangers, according to the post I saw, are being changed into spy/thief type people. Tracking to be removed, various sneakiness things to be added in -- including pick pocket actually <blink>.

Rangers camoing others will freeze them in their tracks.

There will also be counter-stealth specials, so being in one spot won't be all that usefull if your group has a Ranger too.

Simply put, this is a great addition to the game.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

It's a little early, but yes this is exactlly my take on this as well. Another build vs Jedi. Not a call for a nerf or a complaint, just how I see the proposed changes.

According to the info, the new ranger cloaking ability is going to be the new standard for jedi cloak and rifleman's /cover. The rulesets will be changed to follow whatever the new ranger ability is basically.

I was thinking...

Maybe every profession should have all the same specials. Better yet, how about swg just does away with all professions and we just have ONE. ...

wait.. isn't that what we have now.. since the cu?

How might a non-force skill be used to break a force-based skill? If anything it makes sense to be the reverse. Of course, this is SOE that we are talking about, and in their world, it would make perfect sense that a normal humanoid using his mighty morphing power ranger skills might be able to overcome the power of the force. I would not hit the panic button, but i agree there is some marginal reason for concern.

From a BH standpoint I really like those changes.

From a Jedi Standpoint, I'm really worried about those changes. I think it will be more important than ever to get the issues with powers/sabers/speed modsfixed before this makes it onto the live servers. IMO. a BH that can cloak just like a Jedi is going to be a scary thing. On the flipside of this, it should spice up PVP quite a bit once they fix a few things with Jedi.
