Does having the def melee tree 4000 help with LS attacks???? or does the 0040 tree protect you against LS attacks???

welll.... I don't know for sure there. Hard saying since not too many jedi fight with only one of those trees. Problem is that we don't miss very much so melee defense may help in a sense and the innate armor helps in the first tree, but their accuracy is still going to be higher than your melee defense.
Whether tested or not, the general consensus right now seems to suggest that having advanced force aura (xx4x) gives you the best advantage as it grants 500 to both defenses temporarily. Though in my own tests, having 500 extra defense didn't make anyone miss me anymore, I just take less damage which makes me wonder about the supposed accuracy / defense mod relationship having anything to do with one another. As is right now, it isn't working like the old defense stackers that just couldn't ever be hit. So I guess if you are going to get one of those trees, I would suggest getting aura.
Preferably I would suggest getting both just so you have a little bit more innate armor.

aura owns. was tankin for some friends the other night, took 200dmg per hit from pikets before aura, then 65dmg per hit while using aura. Add a little force infusion and badda bing badda boom u wont die even if 10 fierce pikets are on ya

I have given my jedi a little vacation over the last 2 months or so and decided to break him out of his box recently. I was an avid pvper before, and spent the last week and a half running around SF (solo and in groups) just to get a good feel for the game again. Anyway, I noticed something strange:
I was in a group with 2 other jedi and we were fighting another group of jedi. The 2 others in my group were MP/dabbler and ME/MLS (no defender), I am MD/Saber 0404/healer4000/enh 4003. I noticed that the 2 others were getting hit for the same and sometimes less damage then I was as a MD. I didnt log the exact numbers but I plan to do some testing today when i get back in game.
I wanted to know from the community, is defender totally broken? Is there no benefit to having it at this point. I know AI is a death sentance but If someone with FA gets better protection then a MD, seems that would be the way to go? I am really curious and I appologise if this topic has already been addressed, like I said I just got back in game on my jedi recently.
Side note: I also noticed the healing seems screwey, may be just laggy in places but the timers seem extreme and the heals are weaker.

if you had FA on while being a MDef then you'd be getting hit at lower numbers, MDef i believe will provide protection subtly while FA for non defenders works somewhat just as well but drains their force, Mdefs dont have to worry bout that

If you have aura up, 500 defense will outweigh any accuracy in the game currently. Which means, any Jedi with 0040 Defender and imp. aura will be hit with minimum damage range of the weapon wielder.Basically, the amount of damage you takeis almost the same with a non-MD 0040 Defender.
MD's ONLY advantage is Innate armor IF you are not Armorbreak'd. If you're AB'd, you are the same as the MP / LS Jedi standing right beside you with 0040 Defender.
MD has one advantage. In raids, you will be the '' Leeroy guy '' distracting enemy organisation. That's all.

Well, if you run force aura, you will notice a big difference. Also, if you are fighting a ranged fighter, force valor DOES make a difference. The nice thing is, you don't have to worry about your forcebar from getting beat up and the fact that you get hit less also helps a lot. The thing with your enhancer friends, is they can hit you really fast compared to your half templet saber. It doesn't help to be able to take a beating if you can't give one back.

Well considering AB is standard fare, I guess MD is a waste of skill points? xx4x def can be just as effective. Something to think about for sure.

this is a good point , how does MLS saber block compare to valor?

MDef:
89 Skill Points
70 Innate Armor (can be Armor Broken)
about 700 ranged / melee / Force defense
No Force cost for hits taken
Def 0040 / Enh x4xx:
56 Skill Points
70 Innate Armor (can be Armor Broken and Breached to 30)
about 500 ranged / melee / Force defense
Little Force drain for every hit taken
Considering those choices, for PvP the second setup is better since you have more skill points leftover, but almost the same defenses. There is a reason why the current FOTM has Def 4040 / Enh x4xx as defense.
PvE is a different story since you might have 10+ targets on you, draining your Force pretty fast. However, you can survive for some time with Force Armor in that scenario, also.

Shouldn't these numbers 50 and 10 respectively? Or are you adding mods from some type of Force use? MDef here (and not at my toon) so I have no idea what Enhancer does. Just running these numbers from a prof calc...
