I don't think that I'm gonna even mind the CTD every 15 minutes on the weekends, because I know that these scumbags won't have as many creds as they want without putting the work into it that they should!

Does anyone else appreciate this "fix."

I don't want to be flaming the people who are just getting xp, but I do not appreciate the money-hungry GODS with all of the best weapons/armor/buffs who spend their entire gaming experience making money and spending it.

This isn't what a gaming experience should be about, and I am glad that this fix will allow more attention to be paid to the crafters and resource gatherers than the loot hunters. I appreciate stuff that looks cool, but stuff that helps me fight better is kind of a crutch. If I think that I am walking into a situation that I am gonna get killed in, I go prepared. However, I enjoy the challenge of thinking up a solution to a problem, instead of spending 10 million credits that I will never have again to not have to worry, because stuff like that nurtures a superiority complex.

Not sure I follow.

You do know that an /AFK fight macro can be done while the person is not /AFK...right?

If the person is dumb enough to type /afk then sure..this will affect them. But if they dont type it they can keep on going with the current patch.

All the afkers dumb enough to have afk enabled will defenently feel the crunch on this one. They might even get so desperate that they need to turn it off. It is amazing to see the depths the AFKers will sink to. Switching off their AFK marker tisk tisk tisk. What expoliters.

- The macros will still work. Just turn auto-afk off

- It is not an exploit, just a poorly planned, designed, & executed part of game

- If someone wants to spend their $15/month AFK fighting in Eisley or elsewhere, then it is their business.

I'll go ahead and just take my 1-star right now.

the only thing i dont like is that you can no longer be not disturbed while playing. myself and a lot of ppl i know would actually run around and do think and hunt "AFK" so as not to be disturbed. tell hell and surrounded by a bunch of NS isnt fun....

all it really did was weed out the lazy/stupid macro'ers and annoy some players 'live' players....it didnt stop or slowdown the true afkers anyi think....

This Idea is probably a little bit on the revolutionary side, so I know some of you will really hate it. How bout they make stuff so that you can't AFK it? No, seriously, bear with me. What if Nyax didn't spawn every 20 mins? What if dungeons had a one hour timer like the corvette?

As for all the players making millions and millions on dud fireworks looted off meat lumps...those are truely uber loot, and i recomend that they be only droped from high end mobs like night sisters or krayts.

Lets not through the baby out with the bath water here. Recursive macros are great. They are one of the things that make the game better. Get rid of reasons to AFK camp, and you will see AFKing disapear.

Recursive macros are great how? The only people that use them fall into three categories: AFK looters, buffbots, and spammers. While I admit, for craft grinding, they can be useful, but certainly not necessary. Is it that hard to write a macro, then hit one button to trigger it every time? Like docs in SPs using a buffing macro. Half the time, they screw up, they're annoying as heck when you're trying to see through"buffing health 1/6" "buffing action 2/6", like the person didn't know they were getting buffed without being told. Its six buttons on your toolbar...............

Repeating macros are for lazy people. My two cents.........I mean, I'm not a teenager anymore, but I can still find the strength to use my mouse clicking fingers.

It's simple. If you don't want to sit at your computer and actually do what you need to earn what you want, you shouldn't get it. The end of recursive macros will be the best thing to hit SWG in a long time, when/if that happens.

I never tip afk docs or ents. I take as many kills away from afk loot campers as possible. And I'm proud of it.

Im not keen on seeing AFK macros going away, mainly because there is great benefit to having buffbots and entertainer bots, especially during off hours.

I dont see the need to force a player to sit there clicking the same button sequence over and over if they are a buff doctor and earn credits for what they really want to be doing. We all shouldnt be penalized because some TKM types want to level the lazy way.

AFK combat was an unforseen consequence but nerfing recursive macros is using a nuke to take out an anthill.

In general the mob AI in SWG is borderline 'mentally challenged'. The mobs dont use specials or combat moves that are appropriate for the situations at all. They stand there and get wailed on, and thats the core of why AFK combat is possible, the mobs have an IQ of 40. If the players could actually get hurt and die doing these fights, then it wouldnt be an attractive way to grind.

Mobs should flee, call for help, use specials, etc. Make the mobs actually react to the situation appropriately rather than staying in in one spot. I guarntee you that is a mob fled with a AFK combat type in tow to some other aggro spawns, they would quit doing the AFK thing in short order.

Mobs who do ranged at 1m are dumb, they need to back off, mobs who run up and go prone at range 1m are even dumber and mobs who run all over the place shooting wildly, not using specials are especially dumb. (Npcs anyway)

Creatures need to have a 'fight or flight' mechanism. If they are getting dead fast, they need to run away, if a NPC is getting killed, he needs to run away, and call for help. Fleeing mobs should be able to aggro other mobs of their type , thus causing chain aggro\ on the player, making it imperative the player be at the keyboard to react.

in a nutshell..dont nerf the macros..make the mobs smarter so playing AFK combat isnt viable anymore.

There's several solutions to it, but some (like yours) would require some major reprogramming, and in general, haven't worked well in MMORPGs. Even the highest rated have dumb AI, it's inevitable, there's a give and take to the programming.

A doc doesn't need a repeating macro. I've been master doc for 6 months, and never used one, and it doesn't bother me to click 6 buttons in sequence. Again, that's just plain lazy. I've been gaming since I was 9 (Pong), and in that time, this is the first game I've ever seen where you were given tools to let the game pretty much completely play itself. Nobody is saying to take OUT macros, just remove the ability to endlessly loop them. Ok, say, if I did use a buff macro, I can write it, put it in spot 1 on my toolbar, and hit that button once per customer. Let's see, on an average night, I might do 45 buffs, tops. You're telling me it's unfair to make a player hit one button, 45 times, in two hours???

Mobs do run away, and freakin' voritors and quenkers dance around you like a raver on E. Not all the time, but they do it. (there's another annoying bug there, that whole NPC jumps 50m and hovers in the air for awhile thing, but that's another topic). I see what you're saying, but that's falling right back into "it's boring".

Macros are good, for some things. As a doc, I do have to use a spam macro so people know my stats and price, but even that doesn't need to endlessly loop. It's part of the game.....if you're going to sit in a SP and buff, you should expect to have to do some "work", as boring as it may be. Same with fighting. You know the spawns are dumb, it takes about, oh, one day of playing to figure that out. That didn't stop you, me, or anyone else from playing, mastering a skill, and enjoying the time playing. Personally, I'm taking a break, partly for financial reasons, but also partly because I'm bored, a little bit. Fighting the same grind over and over isn't fun, but the point of games like SWG is the other people. It's more enjoyable to me to sit and buff, or go out group hunting, or even just go out on solo loot missions and /tell back and forth in guild chat or with a friend while I'm doing it, than it ever would be logging on, finding a nice spot, then firing off my AFK macro and watching TV or something while the game plays.

Like I said, you either enjoy the game, or you don't. I played Diablo 2 for quite some time, for example, took me quite awhile, and several times through, to max out my character. That game didn't give me macros, I had to do everything myself. Including click a mouse button for every attack I made. If you can't play a game without worrying about how many times you're punching a button.......I dunno what to tell you. That's how games work, man.
