Thread: Mwahahahaha! AFK fighting Macros are gone!

Saying that people who use recursive macros are just lazy is like saying people who use google arelazy.Someone who e-mails a friend instead of snail mailing it is using an exploit that god didn't intend. Driving to work is the antithesis of lazy.Putting an attack up on your toolbar instead of typing /melee2hheadhit3 into your command line is lazy. Automation is a great tool for accomplishing a task quicker, better and more accruately.
Most of those who want recursive macros removed are pissed that others are able to use game rules and systems and accomplish more than the complainer. Recursive macros don't hurt you, and they help others. Obviously the solution is to remove them so that everyone else sucks like you. I know some people use shift+Fxx fortheir second bank of commands. I, on the other hand, set imy controls so i can just press 1.It won't be longuntill people call exploit and demand the devs remove key pad customization. After all, shouldn't I be forced to try to hold shift with my pinky and stretch my index finger up to F7 just like everybody else?
I really, really hope I don't get banned for admiting to using the key customization exploit.
They don't hurt me? So when I'm a new ent, trying to get XP, and I can't because there's a bot in there who got their skills by AFKing rather than playing, that doesn't hurt me? Or when there's a fully templated Jedi attacking NPCs to get loot to add to his millions of credits already whereas I'm trying to get the loot to use it for myself instead of sell it? Exactly.
We didn't say get rid of macros, we said get rid of RECURSIVE macros. They don't help the game, they help destroy it. If you don't want to play the game, why buy it?

I did entertainer for holocron, and i had no trouble doing it in a sea of bots. As long as you are grouped with the rest, you get the exact same amount of healing exp as you would have otherwise. If you happen to like hitting buttons to do different flourishes, well, that's your buiseness. The most popular buff bot Dancer/Musician team on our server often have "guest performers" who perform with them so that they can get the healing exp needed for master. I love AFK dancers/musicians because they are on at 3 AM when i need healed. If macros are removed, the cantinas will be a) empty or b) staffed by one really creepy guy, because after all, anyone who sits actively at his/her computer at 3 AM hitting flurish buttons over and over has got to be creepy.
As for Jedi and Nyax, your real problem is with Nyax, and not recursive macros. If macros were removed, and nyax continued to drop really good stuff, all that would happen is nyax would be camped 24/7 by live people instead of their bots, and you still wouldn't get anything. On the nice side, it would be agood change of pace for you, because now instead of complaining about AFK macros, you could complain about how everyone is better than you at camping mob xxx.
Just because you like to do everything the hard way does not mean that everyone else should be forced to slave alongside you.

Whoa, slow the boat. You can't compare an internet search engine to AFK macros. That's idiotic. That's like saying a phone book is lazy.......you want to call a local shop to find out if they have SWG game cards in stock, you have to dial every number sequentially? Get real, bud.
AFK looters on Nyax, or any other spawn? Let me clue you in........if they're so bored that they can't stay there 5 minutes to fight in person, what makes you think they'll sit there actively waiting for an hour or better???? You're out of your mind. Let's take your example of 3am.....there's hardly anybody online, entertainers, docs, or otherwise, but I can always find a mininum of 4 people camped at a POI, all with AFK over their heads. Yet you expect me to believe they'll be there at 3am, if they can't stay online, AFK, and loot while they're sleeping.
Dude, again, IT'S A GAME. There's controls to be pressed, buttons to be pushed, playing to be played. Once more, if you can't be bothered to play the game, which might involve pushing a few keys, then go back to watching TV, and let the players play. Quit whining about it, trying to make macros and exploiting a game feature sound cool, it's not. Bottom line is you're not playing the game...........sometimes you need to press a key or two.
Oh, and in case you didn't notice, you don't have to type /meleehit2 et al, you have nice, neat little buttons you can drop into your toolbar, and press one key per hit. Try Ctrl-A if you didn't see them. Saves you alot of typing.

Someone else said this in another thread: Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Same deal with macros, recurrsive or otherwise: Macros don't tick people off, people tick people off.
Unless we can slap a patch on certain players, no coding will solve this problem. So don't look to the devs to solve this problem. There's no way they can without messing up non-exploitive players' game experiences. (ie. CoB macro, /loot hotkey, etc) /shrug
Perhaps all the energy we expend toward a possible mechanical/code fix to this problem would be better spent figuring out how to condition people against this behavior in game.
Any ideas?
