Thread: Why Cloak Camping Isn't As Bad As It Seems
b) when youre not solo, but instead in a non-full group of guildmates when you show up, do you then disband and beg for a new group, hoping one of you complete the quest?
c) they will not leave soon. were you around when people were camping the borgle caves for over a year? one will leave and another will take his place
d) i happen to be a jedi and even though I need to finish the quest, I would also like to have the cloak. it feels cheap and lame when I have to buy the cloak from one of the campers that prevented me from doing the quest in the first place.
e) SOE has learned nothing.

QFE
I have been trying to finish this quest (along with many of my guildmates) for the last few days and have no chance because of these campers......they should have made these guys spawn in random places when you get the quest.....it's known that if you place a nice noot on a static spawn that it will be camped.....GG SOE!
you are what i like to call a whiner and thats the fact numero uno, dont tell me your whole SWG expirience is based on this drop, if it is then im just sorry for you

Loot camping is loot camping. mmkay?
Second, the mobs which are camped are on very long timers and the only great loot from them is the robe. The Mobs are needed for 2 quests, and the rewards for those quests really aren't too great, the quest's real reward is looting the cloak.
Having played longer is a license to grief other players by gating their quest progress?
So what does this mean? People are obviously camping the Storm Lord and Sansii, but are they really 'depriving' anyone of content? If you want to do the quest, simply ask to join the group and make sure the campers know you won't take the loot. That's how I've done it and I haven't had a problem. Boom, quest done, you can move on. And even if you can't complete the quest, they aren't used in the Obi-Wan Path, the rewards aren't that great, and theres 58 other quests to do. Have you done all the others yet?
Doesn't matter which quests I've done or haven't done-- that is completely irrelevant. Theofficial rewards granted the quester is irrelevant. This is the questbeing working on *right now*, and the campers are stopping it's completion. When asking to join, it seems the majority of players report that the answer is "sux 2 b u".
I know, I know, but you'd like the loot too, right? But its those damn Jedi camping the spawn that ruins it. But if you're not a Jedi, why are you so interested in getting a Jedi robe? To sell to a Jedi who needs it? Why how noble of you. Darn those Jedi for getting the item themselves instead of buying it from you. For Decor? Then why do you need it right away? Do the quest and come back later, in a week or two when the campers are gone.
Aren't we bloody condescending. Everyone has the right to the loot, not just those who can equip or use it.
Oh, but the campers won't leave you say? They're going to be camping for a while so they can sell their robes? I doubt it. With the long timers these mobs are on, even if you get a cloak on every kill, you can sell it for maybe 10m (Starsider), whereas in theose 2-3 hours you could have gone Bounty Hunting and made double that from SEAs. Cloak Camping is not an efficient way to make money because the time invested is grossly disproprtionate to the reward recieved.
It has nothing to do with efficiency. It's about having a high-end loot item, or having them on your vendor, or having the most of them, not aboutcredits.Sometimes it's about kicks in griefing others. What game do you play?
Please, take my advice. Ask nicely to group and do the quest, pass on the loot for now. Then, in a few weeks when everyone is gone, go back and loot until you get all the cloaks you'll ever need.
In 2 years I doubt Lord Nyax's cave was ever empty of loot campers, and that loot wasn't nearly as lucrative as Jedi cloaks. What makes you think this will be any different?
You're making it sound like it's somehow OK. It's not. People should /report each and every camper, every time they go out there, until something is done to fix the problem. I've been playing this game long enough, however, to know that likely isn't going to happen anytime soon.
Go back to your loot camping, little troll-- mmkay?

No, its not. If I'm ATK looking for a rare drop, theres no problem with me camping. I shouldn't have to kill something once, not get what im looking for, and get told sucks to be you, move on.

Theres no gating in the quest process, all you have to do is ask to join in to youcan get kill credit.

If you're getting sux 2 b u, then theres a deeper issue than just camping. The mere fact that people are camping isnt a problem, its that theyre jerks. I've had no problem getting into groups to get credit, once I make it known I'm not going to ninja the loot.
I know, I know, but you'd like the loot too, right? But its those damn Jedi camping the spawn that ruins it. But if you're not a Jedi, why are you so interested in getting a Jedi robe? Aren't we bloody condescending. Everyone has the right to the loot, not just those who can equip or use it. You're right, everyone has the right to loot, even the campers. You shot yourself in the foot. I said its wrong to say to people "Hey, stop looting that, you're just going to sell it! I want to sell it!"
Oh, but the campers won't leave you say? They're going to be camping for a while so they can sell their robes? I doubt it. The real question is what game do you play? People won't be camping them just to grief others, why would they? How does it help them? There won't be huge groups camping for cloaks in a months time. Ask yourself, how many people run Necrosis regularly? Didn't the Bane's Heart Crystal drop to 4-5m from 10m? And for Nyax Comparisons, at the time, Nyax was a good source for high end SEAs, nowadays we have BH missions. How many people Camp Nyax now? Thats right, none.
Please, take my advice. Ask nicely to group and do the quest, pass on the loot for now. Then, in a few weeks when everyone is gone, go back and loot until you get all the cloaks you'll ever need.

And as far as your personal insult, it just shows how stupid you are. I don't have either cloak, haven't camped at all, but have finished the Storm Lord quest and gotten Vansk of the Archeologists quest because I ask nicely to join the campers so I can get credit and have had no problem.
I'm sure they don't accept you though, because of your disparaging attitude. Try not making broad assumptions about people and maybe you can make a friend.
The cloak is too valuable to jedi just to be "loot" anyone can camp on. SOE screwed up in this regard and should've made it a quest based reward for Jedi.
by the way... loot campers are lame............... Now thatis a reason to force PvP and XP loss on someone!!!

The cloak drop will get nerfed because of loot campers, same as Nyax, same as pearls, same as Aa'kuans. Only a matter of time before they ruin it for everyone.

I don't believe for one moment that these clownsare getting one cloak each then leaving. I don't think you do either.

Read the threads pal. People trying to do the quests are being told to F*** off.

Yes, they're jerks. The game needs to be fashioned in such a way that jerks can't actually hurt other people's progress, though, doesn't it? Let Jawas drop the cloaks, then they can camp those to their heart's content.
I know, I know, but you'd like the loot too, right? But its those damn Jedi camping the spawn that ruins it. But if you're not a Jedi, why are you so interested in getting a Jedi robe? No, you're twisting my words. You implied non-Jedi had no right to the loot. The campers have the right to the loot, but once they have one, it should be time to move on. Don't see that happening.

How did it help anyone to grief the same low-level paddy with bottomfeeder BH missionsover and over? How does it help anyone to run around killstealing mission lairs? How does it help anyone to vis-camp? None of these things benefit the griefer in any way, yet it happens (or happened) daily. People do it because in their tiny little mindsthey think it's amusing to do so at the expense of others. Nobody camps Nyax nowas they nerfed the lootbecause ofloot campers. Or did you miss that bit?

Tell me, what will you do if you kill so-and-so and don't get the cloak? Will you wait to kill him again? sorry, thats camping. Will you take a group of 8 out, get one cloak and leave, or stay until you get 8 cloaks so everyone gets one? Oh, sorry, thats camping.
Like I said, if they were to get one cloak (even each!)and move on, fine. Ain't happening.

Oh don't even suggest that.
One reason I haven't been on this planet is because of the reports I've been hearing about the lag and the camping.
I will not stress myself over trying to complete with some selfish people who has never been taught the meaning of sharing. Am waiting untill they are gone so I can explore this new place in peace and complete my chosen quest in peace.
I would be less then impress if the drop gets nearfed and my chance of looting one lowered because of this. I do not camp, soif and when I do the quest I would hope that I don't have to contend with others sitting around the spot.
I am giving it a week ortwo untill the excitement diesdown over itthen go there... but if they nerf it in the meantime.. ugh.
