Thread: A cheap way to repair disabled vehicles.

A lot of people have been getting vehicles destroyed on Mustafar lately. This is a little tip to help everyone and shouldn't take more than an hour of your time.

The reason vehicle repair kits are so expensive is because they require asteroid resources to make. Currently those resources sell anywhere from 75-100 cpu. This is strange considering you don't need any other skill except novice pilot to mine in space.

Anyways, if you have JTL and ROTW, then head back to Kashyyk and up the great tree of Kachiro. Talk to a man named Flash Harrison. You will do a simple set of quests and he will give you all the items you need to mine. Or you can buy them from a shipwright.

Head into space and mine the necessary resources and give them to a Master Artisan. They will in most cases craft you the vehicle repair kit for free if you give them the resources and any extra you may have.

A little inconvenient but it makes your life a lot easier.

Most people would rather pay the money than mine them. Most people don't enjoy mining. They'd rather be spending their time running the new quests on Mustafar, which is WHY they get their vehicles wrecked.

You have a great point, but most people already knew it, and don't really feel like taking the time.

But I give you credit for making the suggestion, in case there are some people who weren't aware of the quests. Don't think I'm trying to flame you or anything, because I'm not in any way.

I agree with you, but I've seen so many posts with people complaining about their vehicles getting wrecked that I really just felt that I had to put this out there. Especially when half the people in the posts complain about price gouging.

Pft im not gonna pay 250-305K for something that will take 20 minutes of EASY work. Great idea, just tried it and worked like a charm.

Yeah I always thought the mining was part of the ace pilot box. Thanks for the info.

I myself don't care to mine (wrotea macro to make it easier). I'm just saying that most people would rather spend their time on Mustafar (a planet I'm quickly tiring of).

Space mining isn't difficult, but it is a PITA. Hit the asteroid once or twice, stop and beat off some tier 1 or tier 2 bandits. Rinse and repeat. Just let me mine in peace already.

The SWG Forums. You will never find a more wretched hive of

Heh, I make 162.5 cpu for the asteroids I mine for a guy. In 3 hours I made 5 million, which isn't much on Bria.

I love threads like this.

I was a noob and ate threads like this up. I then went out and bought a high density 95 installed a 800+ level 1 cargo hold and some mining laser and went to work to get the two resources needed to make the kits. I launched over naboo and started to mine away.

Easy.......

All of a sudden I was surrounded by tier 2 asteroid pirates. Ok no prob....I eat these guys for breakfast in my regular noob ship. But I couldnt hit crap with my mining laser. First it was 2 then 6 then around 13 pirates all around me (pirates or imps, anyway they were all red). They blew up my laser, disabled my engines and I sat in silent anger and waited to clone. Naboo is the EASIER of the to to mine. The pirates above Yavin 4 are tier 4s.

So just a word of advice, most seasoned pilots say be 3333 before mining and spend the money on good componets for your ship. It IS NOT as easy as these guys make it to be and you CANNOT CONSISTANTLY mine with just novice or 1XXX, X1XX, XX1X, XXX1. There is a reason that it is so hard to find asteroid resources. Mining sucks and those that love JTL dont waste time doing it, they do missions and make far more money. AND IT DOES NOT TAKE 20 MIN TO FILL A CARGO HOLD....lol that was just funny. It takes alot longer and its tedious. You have to blast the main asteroid till a chunck comes off. Chase the chunk. blast that chunk. Chase the smaller chunk. Then chase that and blast it to get the resources. Back to the main asteriod and rinse and repeat. Sometimes chunks will drift up to 5k away from the main. Good luck keeping up with a noob engine.

Basically, Higher tier experience...wait and get a Y-8 mining ship, tractor beam, good laser and regular gun to boot.

My 2 cents.

P.S. Its not like you can be slick and try to mine an asteroid with no reds around. They spawn when you begin to mine the asteroid.

I can fill my mining hold in about 6 minutes max.... and yes, its tedius as all hell. I mined 100k of it, took me about 11 hours of solid mining, and if I ever have to do that much again I'll kill someone

You are absolutly correct.

Space mining is not that easy and depending on the asteroid you want to mine could mean trouble for anyone under 3333 pilot. A NOVICE Pilot will die trying to space mine and a cargo hold with space that is worth buying are usually for ships above the nov box.

Even an ace would find it frustrating to mine 2% of your cargo hold and then have to shoot down all the ships attacking you. It may not be hard to shoot them down at higher piot levels but it is time consuming and gets old very quick.

I have just started mining because of the high price of kits and I am 4444 pilot woth no worries about being blown up in space while mining.

My conclusion is this.

I shall never again think those people selling these kits for 250k are robbing you. In the time it takes me to gather the ore and chemical for 2 kits I could have earned the money for one kit while getting xp also. n both space and on the ground. While you may think the math is favorable to mine for someone like myself, personally I find space mining a horrible experience.

Before anyone under pilot 33xxruns out and spends all kinds of money on cargo holds, lasers... You should consider very carefully the time and energy not mention money spent repairing your ship. Many people would probablyunder pilot 33xx would probably find it easier to just grind pilot sell the useless space junk they don't need and just buy a kit with the money from grinding pilot.
