i do this.

i don't mind mining. i use my Y-wing LP with a 1550 capacity cargo hold. i fill it usually within 10 minutes. I use a Mark III Mining Laser overloaded with WO3. The top turret is my tractor beam.

In Rori/Naboo space, I ignore the tier1s until there are like 20 of them or until I feel like bothering with them. I have over 1300 shields each on front and back they can't even dent them. If I wanted to, I can press the mute button and just ignor them entirely until I'm full and need to land, then just scoot off to the landing station.

In Yavin space, I find that my overloaded mining laser does just fine at shooting down the tier3s. Someone above said tier4s, but the asteroid spawns are only tier3s. I do these runs a lot since I usually burn through 2 vehicles per trip to mustafar. There are occassionally tier4 TIEs that come around... that's why it's great that there are 2 petrochem asteroids in Yavin, and even better that they happen to be pretty close together.

I'd use my Y-8, but i suffer from an uncommon bug that prevents the use of mining lasers in the Y-8 (oh the irony). So I just make 1550 runs of each. From this I get 2 free restoration kits from my crafter bud, and he gets an extra 50 units of each (plus i usually give him the space loot too, since he's also a SW).

to the OP... thanks for the tip. It is always nice to let people know of alternatives. of course not everyone will want to do it.

To the OP, you have made an excellent and Valid point, Space mining is available to all JTL owners,

but with the Tier 1 Pirates (Naboo) and the Tier 3 pirates (Yavin) and also the occaisional Tier 4's on the way to the Petro Asteroids there, it is ill advised for less than Tier 3 pilots to venture out there alone,

but with a Guildie helping shoot down the Bad guys and proper use of available Droid Commands it can be done.

The point that some just do not enjoy the JTL aspect of the game is also of great importance, it is not for every one, its your $15 you play it your way, after all its your adventure

Personally i do like to fly, it takes me back to my long hours of playing Elite on many platforms, and Ore trading gets me a little closer to that.

Ifly these days, since Must-a-fart release, mainly to get res for my crafter to make Vehicle repair kits that my Guild need ( /wave La'Hari) i have not sold them (yet) but a price of between 175k and 300k is reasonable, considering them time it takes to get the res and take into account "Supply and Demand"

My Ship of choice is the Rihk (high mass and 3 gun hard points)I use twin Mk III mining lasers plus an offensive lvl 9 Cannon (may start using a Tractor instead) 2.2k shields, 44 recharge Cap, and various droid commands, it will continuous fire the twin Mk III's which makes the 1654 hold (/wave the best Master SW on Scylla -Egrim) fill quite quickly.

Ihave had the Y-8 since before the bug and now have a 46k hold in it with 5 mining lasers, a crew of 4 of us took it up and IMHO i can mine more Res easily with the Rihk, but may still be down technique.

Sorry Completely OFF TOPIC

I thought I was the only one left who remembered this game , I think I played about 5 different versions, made elite on two different ones . I used to like refusing to buy fuel or fit a ECM and fly from leesti to riedquat fill up my hold full of looted cargo on the way in, land, sell, then fly to the sun to scoop up fuel looting all the way, then selling that cargo at leesti, and rinse and repeat.

I used to play the game listening to frankie goes to hollywood, with myyounger brother being wing man handling the keyboard side of things whilst I handled the joystick .

Funnily enough that younger brothernow plays galaxies as well , as often as his wife allows .

ON topic

this thread has been usefull to me as I didnt realise you could go mining without the Y8.

ha...got ya all beat. get you enough resources to make 2 or three kits. find you a master artisan and have him make you 2 or 3 schematics. buy yourself an equipment factory and then you can mine at your leasure and crate them.

yes i am aware that there is or was a bug on the crates but i have the solution to that aswell.

say you have a crate of 10 and if you pulled one from the crate it would then say crate of 8. well split the crate off to 1's then pull that one from the crate. now you don't have to worry about all of this problems.

hope this helps.
