Thread: CURB = The Great Item Nerf?!!?
That is what it seems to me anyhow and i think that it will actually be good for the game if they do nerf them.
Why?
Simple, that is the only true thing that will balance the game.
I believe that having players have to trade in their weapons, the way that CH and Non-CH had to trade in invalid pets after the CH nerf, will put everyone at the same starting point. Anything else would just spin the perpetual inbalance further and will will make quitters out of those who didnt spend their days and nights camping and looting to have the best stuff.
As it is the anti-decay kit will make the +360 day players have the upper hand, since they will have either a weapon or pcs of armor that will be invulnerable to decay. I think this is a nice present given to us Veterans and do not think that post CURB would be frowned so much upon, assuming that the above scenario plays out.
Why did i write this post?
#1) i wanted to see if others had this general impression.
#2) i also wanted to post my concern in a public forum so that the DEV's can take this player concern into account.

With the upcoming CURB and the release of the Anti-decay Kit i have a suspicion that SOE will be nerfing ALL EXISTING WEAPONS and ARMOR.

First this is roughly just speculation. There are probably 200 weaponsmiths and armorsmiths operating at varying levels on each server. Expecting these people who make up the backbone core of your games success to overnight adapt and change is asking a whole lot of customers. If your going to do things right there should be a very positive incentive to opt into the program. My guess is that your assertion that a nerf is coming is actually incorrect. I believe weapons will actually become stronger to give the crafting community an incentive to continue to participate. It would dishearten many crafters to wake up on CU release and find 90% of there weapon stock needing a trade in and its usefulness reduced. Who would still want to play after seeing that done to there very hard work? Anyone who argues being a crafter is easy should look at the spreadsheets these guys work on for parts.
What about armor? My guess is that composite is going to be come low-middle of the road. That new armors will be more effective than its composite counterpart to varying damage types as described in release cu documentation. This pleases crafters with new interesting schematics and challenges. My understanding is that different blaster setting effect ap. Or something to that effect. Again not really a nerf if you are getting new better armor to craft.
