Thread: Why does it seem like nothing's dropping anymore and there's nothing else to do?

I'm a loot hunter, or loot wh---, since I started playing this game. I like to go out and kill high level NPC's or doing long quests & missions and then be handsomly rewarded for my efforts. I'm not really into PVP. I get bored easily since the players don't drop anything after a long and grueling duel, it's just not my thing. I've completed my Jedi template and it seems like there's nothing left for me to do. I don't even want to think about grinding my alt into a Jedi...I don't even want to think about grinding anymore...I hate the word grind now. What I previously enjoyed doing is either not availabe anymore or simply not fun anymore.
- Nightsisters don't drop damage crystals anymore and if they do it's every 1 out of 50, and it's crappy...
- The best pearl I've gotten from Krayts are Goods, which tune worse than a CSR's customer service...
- I might as well drop the Jedi profession and become a Commando because of all the Cryoban Grenades I've looted from Nyax...
- The best set of bones I looted from Acklay was 120 max damage...oh...I'm sorry that was Pre-CU...
- The credits that Axva and her Protectors drop is enough to pay for the repairs on my swoop...
- Gorax is almost impossible to find, and if it is found all it tells you is to "file a ticket"...nevermind...
- I don't even want to comment on the Death Watch Bunker...
- It's almost impossible to solo an NPC that is more than90 or more CL, which leads back to "forced grouping"...
- It's difficult to find players, during the times I'm able to log on (1-4am PST), and group up to kill a high level NPC (since we are encouraged to be in a group)...
- The Force Rank System is non-functional so I can't even do the Knight Trials. Right now I'm just a stagnant Padawan...
- I've completed almost all the quests on Kashyyyk, at least the soloable ones...
- My saber is pathetic since the best LS component I have in it is an 81 damage, -5 force cost pearl, tuned from a Pre-CU Premium!
- Although my Jedi template is complete, I'm -12.5 mil in the hole because of BH's that I can barely hurt with my sissy 4th gen saber...
- All the potential locations that drop attachments are so heavily camped I actually have to wait in line for a measly +5 to Group Terrain Negotiation...AA even...
- I'm so broke I can't even buy me a Poor crystal, since the game's economy is so ruined everything is overly priced...
- The cheapest pearl I can find in the Bazaar is 500k and it's a Good pearl sold by a non-Jedi, which is ultimately used only for display due to the crappy tune...
- It seems like the odds of getting a good tune these days is just as good as getting a positive responce from a filed ticket...
- I can't even mine in space with my newly aquired Y-8 because the entire ship is bugged...
Now if you're a loot hunter, which is someone that plays the game in search of those rare and expensive items and someone that is not into PVP (brief description of my gameplay)...what would you do if you were in my situation? Now I know I will get positive posts that will add onto my frustration with their related experiences, as well as negative ones that will most likely insult me, and even childish remarks or comments that are irrelevant to this post. That's fine, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I just don't know what to do anymore whenever I'm logging on the game and I'm staring at a shot of the back of an Imperial Interceptor with a Star Destroyer in the background, while waiting for the lime green notches to finish the circle during the blue loading screen. I don't know, it seems like wishing for a good loot drop is like wishing for a bug to actually be fixed...will it ever happen???

I can understand your point, I myself am a solo non pvp loot hunter. I currently spend my time doing the following....
- Trying to collect a full skeleton from the M cave on kash. His name will be fred.
- Gather the weapon drops from the webweaver cave so that my alt can slice them and sell for 5-10k per to new players.
- Hunt krayts so that I have something to complain about to my friends.
- Grinding space loot to build up my bank account and search for high quality reversable parts.
- Spending time in the Aakuan cave running around killing the level 20's that dont spawn together for the afk campers.
- Clear out the Tuskin fort a few times and take the 4 to 5 crystals I get and place on vendor for 10k per.
- Making a photo journal of funny screenshots, like me kissing Vader, (im a male toon)
- Slowly grinding force xp village stuff, Not to be a jedi, just the stuff that applies to me.
- Perfecting my loot showroom.
- Riding into a pack of grinding jedi with my Master BH tag on just to see them scatter like roaches.
- Looking for the one Illegal core booster that drops per day on my server.
- Riding up on the jawa verses tuskin battle and sprayshotting the lot just to see which faction I lost the most of.
- Installing both rangearms and taking out a few base turrets just for giggles.
- Sitting on the bridge in the M cave to help people get by all the darn bugs there (gatekeeper duty)
- Logging alt whos a novice docto heal wounds and buffall off duty toons for tips.
- Sitting in Eisley witha helper tag on to answer questions for the new players.
- Shopping for stuff I dont need only to turn around and resell it on my vendorcause Idont have theroom for it.
- One by one doing quests so that I have something to look forward to at all times.
- Responding to posts on the forums that spark my interests.

Man, you said pretty much how I feel.
Pre CU I completely leveled to MRifleman at the SMC vs NS battlefield. Man that was fun, I would generally loot a quality crystal a day from the arch-witch, and occasionally get a decent DOT pike. It was fun looting the mobs "completely looting the corpse" and actually getting excited to see what I got.
Post CU I have killed well over 1000 nightsisters or SMC and have received no crystals at all. I spent all day saturday killing the elder and 2 spellweavers that spawn in the cave between science and the village. The best thing I looted was a +5 rifle crawl speed AA. I did loot a 780 max damage vl, but base dps was around 270 or so.
The problem I see now is this, I have a pre-cu vibrolance that is min 697 max 1285 speed 2.4 (base). My mod DPS since I have +25 speed/acc tapes is just below 700 with this weapon. Im "decent" in pvp, but no where near as effective as I was pre CU when the pike stats were similar to what they are now. Why? Because no matter what my speed, I have warm up and cool down timers that restrict how fast I can attack, basically those +25 tapes are useless except for default attacks.
Even if they brought exceptional weapons back in the game, I just dont know what dif it would make, everyone is mediocre at this point. I believe this is what SOE wants, which is sad.

I hear ya. Fortunately, I still have a bunch of loot to get on my TC toons. I've got 3 toons in the village, but I can't bring myself to grind to Jedi (only interested in the village items). Filled up a large house with loot, and I'm about to drop another one. I've done most of the Kash stuff in the last two days, and I really don't know where I'll go next. Could farm parts for Recyclers, I guess. I really want to get all of the story datapads (i.e., Gotal Bandit's Diary, Corellia Ho!), but I can't figure out the most efficient means of getting them.

I'm not saying loot isn't good, but it sucks how much this game has become increasingly loot driven. As for what else there is to do, have you ever tried, oh, I don't know, ROLE PLAYING?
Role playing in a role playing game, it's a new concept I know, but you should check into it sometime
Seriously though, role playing can add a lot. There are times I take a break from grinding, quests, loot hunting, whatever, just to kick back with friends and role play. It's a nice break from everything else. And it's not like you won't be missing anything if you do, between the AFK looters and the borked loot tables.

Agree.
I’ve been getting pretty bored with the game lately.
On my server krayts only spawn on reset days, and their drops are completely borked. Pre cu segments, good pearls only and tissues drops have had major nerfs lately so we have to go though the whole process of figuring out what prices should be. Yet again.
Gorax bones don’t have that high of demand.
Geo cave was made worthless as a place to get loot.
Farming NPC’s for anything takes forever now and most of their loot got nerfed, is not worth the time or is continually broke like recyclers.
GCW has been dead for non jedi for ever.
BH is either Kash or full templates. Full templates aren’t so bad if you have a partner but that’s going away in patch 20 (not a CM BH)
I could unlock a jedi but at this point I don’t want a jedi. So that would just tie up 24 fs pts and make me grind out another toon.

I've actually been making a killing off of Gorax bones lately. But it seems like I'm one of the only people selling them on my server, so that may be why.
When I get bored, I just go to a planet I haven't been to in a long time. Then I poke around and see if there are any quests or badges I haven't got there yet. Or just go hunting the various creatures there forsomething different.

Sharkboy007 love the mitch hedburg quote.........they need to make GDK scales worth more they used to be worth so damn much but not ne more....i remember lots of old loot being worth so much but it all went down the tube who knows
