Thread: Friday Feature, May 27th New Vehicles
No it doesn't. I tried to offer a buddy a ride on mine and got something of an error message.

There are a total of 8 vehicles that now have ground-based, multi-passenger functionality.

V-35 SoroSuub Carrier (new!)
What is the 8th vehicle?
the BARC speeder

What was the purpose of wasting development time on this update? Don't you have more important stuff to work on?
This update provided us with 3 new vehicles which were fun and exiting, for about 10 seconds. There is no purpose to drive anything buta swoop really except for role-play and socialevents. Everyone has a swoop and it's still the best vehicle around. Since everyone has a swoop there is no need to ride together. Why didn't you provide us with a vehicle that excel at something? I have used the Ab-1 and V-35 the first slightly faster than the second but both are absolutely horrid to use in terrain. The V-35 basically stands still as soon as it drives up the slightest hill.

The new vehicles aren't entirely impractical. Now it's less likely someone in a group will have to walk because their bike was destroyed. In fact a group can reduce its total risk of losing vehicles by packing everyone into multi-seaters; that way fewer vehicles are vulnerable at any time.
Also if you hunt with an alt, you don't have to worry about the alt who is on /follow getting stuck in a tree and doubling back, nor do you have to worry about mobs aggro'ing her.

AB1 - Compact motorcycle like, a engine with a seat. Very fast, very cheap to maintain, horrible on hills.
XP38 - Slightly faster and more efficiant than the x34, this vehicle could have the max terrain mod.
V35 - Ummm, lets start thinking tank. Sorosub is an amazing company that produced a yacht that allowed party guests to view massive battles behind thick safety glass. How about making the sorosub v35 the same way. No harm can come to passengers while in the vehicle. Think safari !!! Think safe taxi service to the village!! That would be so cool. Of course you would have to increase the speed and terrain mods on it to make it a viable option. But riders could actually use the 10 minute ride to go to the bathroom or even spend time with those little people some of us have in our lives.
Point is...make items unique. Also if possible could you make a few areas for artisans to tinker with these? Speed, stability(degration rate), strength (hit points), Tourque (terrain mod)...
Excellent ideas to make each vehicle unique.
I'm not sure that the V35 idea is good, but it is an interesting concept.
I think it's 6 passenger status is enough of a unique trait to round it out with the rest (Perhaps give it better terrain negotiation or some other slight engine tweak, but other than that it serves it's role).
All in all though, I would love to see the other speeders perform like you have suggested.
I think some of the speeds should be brought closer together. Swoops and speederbikes should be the fastest, the AV21, then the AB1, the XP38, the X34 and Flash Speeder, the V35 and lastly the X31. I imagine the BARC should be like the speederbike... honestly I haven't looked into that one, yet.
I agree with the last statement of your post (Which I cut out) about prefering to see them fix more important things before going too nuts with vehicle ideas... but there's nothig wrong with offering ideas like you have.
I think these unique traits for each vehicle could be worked on now... and hopefully one day, down the road, craftable variances can be implimented for land vehicles... something similar to Starships, but perhaps more limited and simple. Just enough to allow some fun variances.

May the force be with you.
"Why's it so slow?" they always say.
I explain that, well, everyone thinks that the first time they get on one, but in fact the vehicle I have produced to show them is a swoop, the fastest in the game, and you quickly grow used to its comparitively slow speeds, compared to the movie versions of the vehicles. I'll show them an X-34 and they'll go,
"But, you could walk that fast!"
And I say, well, no, it just seems that way, but walking is even slower. So they say,
"Why can't they just have them go faster?"
and I say, well... the game engine can't really handle it much faster. Then, I remember that force run 3 *is* faster (or at least it was), and I confess that, well, it can go faster, it just doesn't. It doesn't because, if we could move even faster, it'd be very easy to get from place to place quickly, and it'd make the SWG universe a smaller place, since you could so easily drive to its edges and realize how small it is when you can move so fast.
Around that time, they say they don't wish to play the game.
For my two cents, knock the max possible speed up to that of old FR3, and leave the current X-34 as the slowest it can go. Then, like armor, make all vehicles essentially the same, letting the artisan experiment on speed, terrain negotiation, acceleration, handling, armor rating, condition decay rate, and so forth. Like armor has, just make sure boosting one hurts the others. For instance, boosting speed to the upper limits kills the decay rate and turn radius on a swoop bike.
Of course, there's an advantage to vehicles that can carry more than one passenger, and some might wish to reduce their state to compensate. I say, leave the extra seats and don't make them effect the experimentation one bit. Everyone can afford their own speeder, being able to offer a ride in yours just makes it cooler, it doesn't hurt game balance any.

Also if you travel with a friend your friend doesn't need to be ATK for the entire trip. She could run to the bathroom or grab something to drink or troll the forums while you drive. No need to worry about getting stuck on a rock either.
These multi-passenger vehicles are an amazing enhancement to the game. I would choose them over fixing some silly non game breaking bug that only an an*l retentive person fusses about (which is what these people complaining about the so called bugs are really complaining about)

/agree!
now dark jedi masters?
the whole krayt population boom was great since jedi were able to find those elusive perfect pearls, but now they are a joke. they are entirely too hard (but ok since a group should be required to kill these things) but now they still do not drop anything higher than a "good" rated pearl. have you even played this game? good pearls suck royal butt. the best fix you guys did was to insert worthless arse scales back into the loot table. then you fixed it back but never put back in prems or flawless pearls.
so now a jedi must seek elsewhere to find those perfect pearls or crystals....what could possibly give those? dark jedi masters. now thanks to your infinite wisdom people have learned to play this hunk of junk called CU and you found out that a lot of djm's have been getting dusted left and right and dropping some pretty fantastic loot. so how do you fix it...by going back to what has worked for other things. you throw in some more worthless/ not working loot items into their loot table and drive the desire to hunt them into oblivion.
would be a novel idea if someone had the sack to step up and say that they will look into it or just tell us you do not want us to have these items that we have been getting. either way since no one with any ability to listen, comprehend, or act in accordance to their customers wishes will ever read this....whatever!!!! keep up the good work and keep coming up with new stuff to break or make half assed....god forbid you would ever revisit anything and correct your initial flaw.
