Thread: BARC speeder not available on the digital download!

Where........did you see it would be a FREE product? Are you nuts? It was never advertised as FREE........what was advertised was that it would be downloadable for existing Station Members, rather than waiting for the boxed, retail version. I read the launch announcement, the day it hit. In fact, I read it on GameSpot the day before SOE even put it on the SWG forums. It was NEVER advertised as being free.

Let me put this in big, bold letters for you....
1. The BARC Speeder is available through the retail box set. If you want it, buy the RETAIL BOX SET, install the Rage of the Wookies expansion CD, and claim your BARC speeder. You can do this on an exisiting account, you DO NOT NEED TO START A NEW ACCOUNT.
2. The Varactyl is available through the Digital Download. If you want THAT, pony up your credit card, and order the Digital Download.
3. Both items are tradable, so if you dislike the Varactyl, you can trade for a BARC, or vice-versa.
4. The Varactyl is ONLY available to Digital Download subscribers, and NOT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. It is an exclusive item for EXISTING STATION MEMBERS.
Does that clear things up for you?
I still fail to see how you feel you're getting screwed....you can have either one you want, AND you can even trade the dang thing in-game if you want....now, YOU explain to me how that's unfair.

Actually Yes, it was advertised as a Free download.
My husband and I sat here with 2 mates of ours that play on swg as well and Read that it was Not going to cost anything.
Apperntly some of you missed that...But, that's fine.
All 4 of us sat right here at my pc and read it.
Doesn't matter now, since they are going to charge.

uhhh....I believe you are referring what was initially stated in a post by TH that the Combat Upgrade would be free to all players, available via download when RoTW was released. It never said anything about needing the expansion to have the Combat Upgrade data installed and stated that it would be separate from the purchase of RoTW but would be going live around the same time as the Digital Download pre-order was released. Sounds almost exactly like what you are referring to.

We will be making an announcement very soon about the upcoming Star Wars Galaxies expansion pack. As work has developed side by side with the Combat Upgrade and this to-be-announced expansion, we have decided to run one beta test for both products simultaneously.
We want to assure everyone that the Combat Upgrade will be a *free update* for the live service.
As a special thank you to our CU testers for your patience, you will automatically be included in the expansion portion of the beta test.

Say you're on Ahazi. Go to the Bria forums and find someone with the BARC boxed set. Make a character on bria and trade him your Varactyl.
Have him make a character on Ahazi and trade you his BARC.
Problem solved and no one loses anything.

never thought of that thats a cool solution and would pi$$ off SOE royaly so every ones a winner
woo hoo!Just thought though they will blatantly make it one deed per account once you have traded it you wont be able to get it on another server.
