I'm wondering where the heck do I go and which (scientist) NPC do i talk to get the rare artifact item?

The scientist i got was just a random person in Mos Eisley . . . standing outside the cantina. But i went back and he was gone...i think it's just at type of person you can find most anywhere?

The scientist NPC I normally get them from is hiding under a bit of wreckage in Mos Eisely that leans against the Spaceport building. I also get a jar of preserves insects, an empty cage and a image pad from this guy it depends on the mission issued.

I had the same problem. Not all NPCs tagged as Scientist seem to work. I had similar problems finding Nobles that gave out the decorative item quests. I think the Scientist I finally found was somewhere on Tatooine and the Noble I found was in Bela Vistal on Corellia. The NPCs that are wandering are the ones that don't work. The NPCs standing still under tents or next to a building seemed more likely to work for giving out quests.

I found an NPC scientist with a blue "i" above his head in Mos Eisley behind the spaceport near one of the artists for the Bestine museum painting quest. I got both an empty cage and the rare artifact from him.

While waiting for my hunting party to form up, I got mine to deliver to a quest npc on dant. Having returned many times, i couldn't get it again. Of course, when I left the game for 5 months, my so called friends scavenged all my stuff and sold them on the market so I have it no longer.

There is one in mos eisely, as soon as you exit the star port go left and there is one under this big metal debre thing
