Well after two missions of rare bugs, I got the mission for rare artifact from the scientist at 3636, -4875.

also was a loot, got mine a long time ago though, fs drop, but yea if theres a mission, do that, i think the sites swg-decor.com they might have ur needed info about a mission

Try all the guys around there. It's a quest and you can just shove it into a backpack.

There's a scientist in Mos Espa, close to the tent that has the Rebel terminal. That's where I got my rare artifact.

You can get it in missions from any NPCwho has (a scientist) as their title.

there is one in bestine right outside the starport he gives you "rare preserved insects"
