I don't want "better" I want useful. Items that I have to fiddle with to get them placed in my already nearly full homes? Not useful. A different kind of house that stands apart from the thousands of others? That would be nice. A vehicle that's different from the rest of the pack? Also nice. Neither of which would hurt anyone, nor break the balance of anything, but they would be nice looking AND useful. So much in this game has devolved to the level of pure flash, and it's depressing. Never been a big fan of Form over Function, and to see meaningless eye candy everywhere I go bugs me. Heck they're even making some of my favorite professions purely ornamental.
A house that looks different than the current options...Eye Candy
A vehicle different than the rest of the pack...Eye Candy, and do we really need another vehicle?
Here's the problem: In order for something to be useful, it must either (a) do something new, or (b) perform better than something currently in the game. In the case of (a), the danger is minimal in most cases(something like a vet reward mining ship that works wouldn't be game breaking), but when you get into the second category, you run the risk of inadvertently causing problems.
The Devs are busy and overworked as it is. Should they spend their time coming up with new stuff to give the small percentage of players that have been around since launch, or fixing/revamping systems and professions that affect a much larger portion of the player base? If I have to choose between flashy new stuff for sticking around, or seeing my profession fixed or bike aggro fixed or something else that actually matters, the vet rewards aren't very important to me (I still haven't claimed an ADK after ~18 months of active playing)

Hopefully the Devs catch on to these ideas. I have seen lots of them in this post. I don't think we need some crazy weapon or anything game breaking, but as many have said something useful. I think these trinkeets are just as valueable as some Jawa beads or a jar of spices.

Devs are busy and overworked, but its not with this game, there are bugs and borked professions that have been there since publish 9. This small percentage of Vets that you talk about are larger than you think. There are over 225k members on this game, and over 50% of them have been around since launch. If its not for us members, the DEVs have no jobs. We are the ones that give them there check each week, we pay all their bills at SOE, they make $81 million dollars a year with the 225k ppl on this game. I believe that a Vet reward with some thought in it isnt too much to ask for paying them all my hard earned money.
would everyone stop complaining.
as a previous poster pointed out, people have been playing Everquest (a game made by SOE) for over 5 years and have not gotten a single vet reward. just be glad you're getting ANYTHING as a vet reward.
