Focused crystals are villiage rewards, not loot.

And I hunt nightsisters quite often and if nothing else, get a slicing component (mandalorian intraframe or whatever) every 5 or 6 kills, lots of power crystals too.

well tell me which NS type your killing because I killed them on sunday for 6 hours over 120 dead.. and i got one red crystal and tons of retarded lances. and thats it.

The cl85 ones are a bit hard for me (I don't heal, no stims or even bacta), so every 2 fights I gotta sit and heal, but other then that it's not bad.
I havn't gotten anything better then vibro lances from anything weaker then a ranger though, so I assume loot chance as well as quality is scaled by level.
