I like a varactyl better then a speeder, since it can keep you company while out in the wilderness. Not to mention it can't be destroyed, and it follows you around, unlike a speeder.

Feathered Turkeys? Isn't that a bit redundant?

Anyway, as far as vitality loss goes, a pet will only lose vitality if the enemy normally death blows and has nothing else to go after. Since they usually go after you after they kill your pet, rarely will they lose vitality, and then only if you are extremely careless with them. I've been a CH since launch, still have my 3rd pet that I ever tamed, and he's down to 84 vitality without ever using a vitality pack on him. And only because I used him as one of the main pets to train CH with, and because it was before enemies would attack the master after the pet fell.

Both of them are pretty much immortal, it all comes down to which you like better really. Mounts do have extra use now that Kashyyyk is largely a no vehicle zone, they are able to do limited fighting if need be. It would be even better if you could still attack while riding them (Obi-Wan does in the movie, hacker!). The vehicle is nice, and its cool as the only speeder that holds 2 people, but really, there are 2-3 other vehicles that work just as well, while the Varactyl is the fastest mount without question.

So if, the Varactyl is so much better, then why do you want a BARC at all?

The artisan kits for barc are perfect for getting your bike up and running when out in the wild, but if you don't wanna pay millions (on radiant at least)for a kit just head back to your nearest parking garage and you can repair it from disabled there. I have the varactyl/kashyyyk bantha/bolotaur and barc of course, I use the varactyl when I have to in kashyyyk although whoever said it was fast must be 90 years old, I don't have a kaadu but I'd imagine they are a bit faster. The ladies seem to like the bantha, apparantly he's "cute", but he can be a pain in the arse since you have to be quick when you call him or he'll lay down on the ground unusable. I like the bolotaur forin-town travel, he's green and all the others I've seen are brown that's kinda cool, I died enough times to the kwis that I feel I have to use him occasionally. The barc is by far my favorite given a choice when speed matters, it's no faster than a swoop I don't think except when going up hills, it doesn't lose any speed goin up em, great for trips to the village.

Someone on the CH forum did all sorts of mount speed tests, the varactyl is the same gallop speed as a kaadu, but walking and running it's MUCH faster than any other mount.

CH's (not sure what lvl is necessary) can train and name the varactyl. I had one on Lowca set up my lovely Lola the Lizard the other night. The ability to stay, group, and attack is pretty nice to have.

I got a BARC from my guild mate today. I still have the Varactyl and I still use it a lot. Truth be told, I haven't seen many Varactyls around. I haven't seen one in Coronet for a few days, I just saw ONE today in Theed. Thats all. I love my Varactyl as I said before, it has become more rare then the BARC its self.

I believe its because your have to start a new account with the Total Expirence it wont just update what you have. so the BARC is rarer. The other 2 points your mentioned are objective and subject to disagreement.

actually...you do not need to start a new account. i did it (and recived the BARC) by registering the expansion with the account key located on the back of the total experience manual
