What i meant by that was, everyone should be able to use a lightsaber if they stumble upon one. There was no requirement in the movies for people to use them, so if the game is supposed to be from the movies, we should be able to weild one, even if we cannot use it properly. What stops us from hitting a button and turning it on?

exactly, lightsabers do have buttons/switches after all. maybe a critical failure while fighting with it would send you to the cloner automatically, with one of the "bad" cybernetic limbs! that would be awesome! it wouldnt hurt the game, people would learn not to play with dangerous things. we could gop wild with this. imagine, someone not certed with a certain type of grenade, they try to throw it, it goes off early!

Ok, any child can pull the trigger on a weapon, Luke was able to turn on his fathers lightsaber... and he was untrained. I think being unable to equip a weapon because you are not certified in it is rediculous. I would never expect to use a weapon effectively with training in it. Why wouldnt it be a great item for a dancer, have you ever seen sword dancing? They are not fencers, just very good at not hitting each other. Honestly I findthe tuning thing is anoying too.

You may have a good point here, however....... of all things in this game that stray from the movies, is THIS really something that should be near the top of the "fix" list?

Well you could always just grind jedi and get a lightsaber like everyother jedi 
.
