Actually, Jaxy, there *is* a legal/logistical reason that SOE/SWG removed this poster.

The game has several European servers, and thousand of European players. In some parts of the EU, it is *illegal* to display Nazi or Nazi-derived items in anything other than a historical context. To avoid the criminal charges, when it became clear that there *was* a controversy surrounding the poster, SOE/SWG pulled the artwork.

Whoever thinks it looks like a nazi propganda is a retard. plain and simple. You have to be a complete idiot to think it looks anything like nazi posters. and NO, the empire wasnt BASED ON NAZI's. man u are dumb. alls they did was look at german military uniforms to get ideas.... and im thinking the modern uniforms say back in the late 70's early 80's. You sir are a complete idiot. thats my 2 cents, no refunds.

I tend to agree that I did not get a "Nazi" feel of the poster... Definatly a "Victory" feel, and with the colors I was reminded more of the USSR than Nazi Germany.

And ya... the painting was not incredibly well done, I would gess that is why it was not put to live.

Now a Propoganda poster I would like to see would be a Legion of Stormies Marching while a Fleet of Star Destroyers fly over them (saw a WW2 poster like that with bombers)

It doesnt look like nazi propaganda .... but the "S" symbol behind the storm REALLY looks like the "SS" lightning symbol on posters of this sad period . I am not sure about the persons saying it doesnt . I guess i can find a few links .

Its not bothering me butthey should have picked another kind of letters format is all for the background . The rest of the picture is ok .

Well they didn't just " look at german military uniforms to get ideas....", they also used the name stormtrooper.

It doesn't matter if they don't look like it when you put them side by side. What matters is that many people think Nazi when they see this poster. That said, there are indeed laws banning this kind of stuff and it isn't uncommon for computer games to be adapted. Microsoft removed swastika's from the planes in one or more of their flightsims, even though it would be historically correct and allowed. It remains a sensitive subject here Europe.

Empire: Dictatorship, take the galaxy by force. George Lucas knows about WWII, he may not have consciously based the Empire on WWII germany but based on it it is.

I was talking to a friend about in-game paintings, and I SWEAR I saw a page for one that never made it off Test. It was a Stormtrooper with his fist in the air, standing against a black lightning bolt against a red background. The posts suggested that it'd never made it to live because too many people thought it resembled old SS propoganda posters and stuff. The page had a picture of it and everything.

I thought it was mentioned here and linked to on Alla's. However, while I only saw this a few weeks ago, I can't find discussion about it anywhere--not here, not Alla's, nowhere.

Can you help me out here? My friend is going to cry if she doesn't get to see it. (Her medication gets upped soon.)

Well...where do you think theword "STORMTROOPER" came from?
