NM, found the answer to my question by a dev on another forum and yes, you do get the kit back if you destroy .

Okay, so if you use the kit and then decide you want to use it on another item you can get the kit back by destroying the item. How about this - if you use the kit on an item, then sell the item, then the item is destroyed by the new owner. Does the new owner get the kit back?Or does itgo back to the original owner?

I know we could "what if" this to death, but I'm sure this situation will come up at some point.

then the item is destroyed by the new owner

Weapons with Anti - Decay on them cannot be traded.

Can you point me to that thread/post? I've seen alot of posts about this, and do know its true you get the decay kit back upon destroying the item its on, but I'd very much like to see the DEV post to satisfy my anxious feelings about using it.

My main question is, yes, I can destroy the item and recover the decay kit, but is this something that can be done for a limited time? Or if a year from now I decide to destroy the item its on, will I still receive the anti-decay kit back?

Browse through the dev tracker. There is about one page just for anti decay kits.
And this FAQ should cover all your questions:

I looked around but couldn't find a straight answer, so I'm making a new post with the following question / scenario:

I slapped my 3rd-Gen saber on the Anti-Decay kit, and the kit disappears. Now I hear that you get the kit back if you destroy the weapon you used it on (saber in this case). Now here's my question: Can I take out my pearls before I destroy the saber? I want to be able to take the pearls out, destroy the saber, then use the pearls and anti-decay kit on a4th gen saber.

Would I be able to?

From what I have read, the answer is yes. You can take out your pearls/crystals before you destroy your saber to get your kit back.

However, I don't believe many of the things that I read here.Often the information given by administrators, devs and CSRs turns out to be wrong or at least written is such a way that it is misconstrued. More often information by regular posters is not quite right being based on second hand or out of date information.

I recommend you do what I plan to do. Surely you must have a couple of worthless tuned crystals around. Make a cheap saber, put in your worthless crystals and apply the kit. Now just see if you can take them out. Either you can or you can't . It would be nice if you let us know but the wise person will do the experiment themself.

I'll try it out tomorrow. I have the anti-decay kit slapped on a saber right now, so if I can take crystals out I'm assuming that it'll be good.

I don't get it... on the decay kit itself it is written that you can't use it with weapons? O_o
