Just because you see only one set of armor in the movies (I'm assuming Boba just repainted his father's armor) doesn't mean that they were *that* rare in AGFFA.

Besides, doesn't everybody always say we need things that make SWG more "Star Warsy"?

As I recall Lucas Arts put it's foot down after it saw what happened to Jedi. Theres supposed to only be one or two sets od Mandolorian armor even in existence at this point in the time line. LucasArts has made a few t hreats about takign control of the game to help control the Jedi population, which I imagine is probably why the devs recently change the FS exp echange rate from 3 : 1 to 30 : 1.
LA doesn't want any other rare stuff becoming as common as jedi are in SWG so I doubt we'll ever see any of the items for Mando armro recieve an increase in drop rate.

I'm sorry, but in this case, gameplay and risk vs reward vastly outweighs potential continuity breaks. The FS exchange rate was simply changed because people were abusing grenades in a way they weren't intended to be used (unless you're talking about when the village was still in testing). The bottom line is that LA hardly has any say at all in what goes on in this game. They're the publisher more than the developer.

Anyways, getting back to my point, the problem with Mandalorian armor in it's current state is that it's nothing more than a tease really. Making absurdly rare drops necessary components doesn't create any content, add anything to the game, or reward the bold. It's one of the laziest forms of creating a choke point, and it happens to screw over a significant portion of the community as well. Farming the DWB for these single choke-point components is a tedious waste of time that rewards no one but the lucky and those who can afford to squander hours of their lives carrying out repetetive proceedure in hopes that maybe they'll get what they need to make one piece.

Considering how much effort getting even one piece (when you have all the components) takes from multiple individuals, the risk vs reward vs time (combined time of everyone helping) simply doesn't add up right. This is why the only suits of Mandalorian armor out there are decorations in guild halls, as it's not that fair to let any one man wear a suit when it takes months (if not years) of group effort to get it. Why do you think the only thing that really gets made is the rocket pack? No one has a prayer of getting a full suit to call their own... and if they did they would never use it since it'd decay so fast.

Given the implementation of armor in this game, there is so much wrong about the availability of Mandalorian gear that it's not even funny. With it's current rarity the only way you could possibly justify it from a gameplay perspective would be to give it infinite condition. So long as it can decay the drop rate for components needs to be much higher, since this armor should actually be used (without requiring ADK's) on a regular basis by those who obtain it. They earned it, they should get to enjoy it.

Honestly, with all the things in this game that aren't Star Wars in the slightest, how can so many people argue in favor of severely limiting something so iconic? Considering that only 4 classes in the game can even wear it, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing those masters running around in it. It'd make me say, "wow, there goes a commando!" or "Wow, that guy is a master bounty hunter!". That's the sort of thing this game needs. Not more stuff for elite minorities to horde away and lord over the populace.

This isn't to rag on those who put forth the effort and dedication needed to get the full suits, but I have to ask you: doesn't it feel rather lame knowing that your months of effort have yielded one complete suit? That only one of you (at best) is going to be able to wear something that took all of you months to get? Not even the uber suits in EQ weren't that bad. Everyone who regularly puts in time during these months of raiding deserve a full suit. Months of combined effort is nothing to sneeze at, and right now the vast majority of those who help are left rather lacking in terms of a tangible reward.

Compound this with the fact that jedi are pretty much mandatory to get through the place now (and they can't even wear it) and you have one stupid dungeon with a reward that isn't worth the risk or time investment in its current incarnation by any stretch of the imagination.

Well said!

If it was just about personal efforts, I couldn't complain even with current drop rate... but the fact that it takes sooo many people for ONE to succeed, with only that person keeping the finished piece of armor... doesn't seem right.

well if we look closely it doesnt seem as tho any more mando armor will be made seeing as all pre CU BH armor was converted to Crafted BH armor which cannot be used for making Mando armor and i havent seent any other type of BH armor other than crafted.

I'm sorry, but i have to correct you, m8. The Pre CU BH Armor got a radial option to convert it into the loot-BH Armor, which is the Manda Component type, and the Black Suns on Yavin/Dath/Endor still drop the loot-BH Armor.

the thing is that we need uber/rare loot in the game as there is no such thing as legendary/exceptional weapons that used to go on the trade forums for upto a billion cr. If rare objects like this were made easier to get hold of, the game would have taken a turn for the worst

But there is a difference between rare loot and impossible loot.

From my own experience i can tell you how people (not all of course) think about it:

Me: "I'm trying to get ateam together with the intention of crafting a Jetpack, which will take lots of DWB raids. Are you interested?"

Friend: "Sure, that's fun" (even knowing that only one can get the JP in the end)

Other situation:

Me: "I'm trying to get ateam together with the intention of crafting a Manda Helmet, which will take lots of DWB raids. Are you interested?"

Friend: "No way, that's a waste of time. You know you'll never get the loot components."

Of course these aren't quotes, they just describe the way how conversations went. The point is, that the lootdrops are so rare that even the most dedicated players dont bother about getting it. If the dropratewould be increasedto 1% for the BL and PLC it would take about 50 raids to get a full suit. This would roughly take 2 months at 1 raid every second day (which is far more than most groups are capable of). I think 2 months of work of 8 players justifyone set of Mandalorian Armor. You still wont see people running around in Manda Armor everywhere, and even if: would it hurt that much? The fact that you are here shows that you accepted Jedi running around everywhere, so would it hurt so much seeing a guy in Manda Armor occasionally?

What do you consider "hard work"? As I said, i've spent over 120 hours inside the dwb and around 60 more hours with planning and organising. Where do you draw the line?

And of course every noob would run around in Manda Armor, cause i see noobs with Jetpacks all the time flying through Mos Eisley or doing missions on Dant.

Compare it with the "ordinary" BH Armor. It takes far less work to get, but how many people do you see running around in it? Most i have seen were 3 a day, in average its only one. Now how often would the Manda Armor be worn/seen if the droprate would be upped a bit?

Wow, you are a smart one. I take it you already got your Manda Suit, since you are such an elite player.

Too bad this turns out into a flamewar. It was intended to be a discussion

I would love it if LucasArts took over this game. But they wouldn't, they would just take the liscence off sony and make a new game

Well i have to agree with your comments. I have spent so many hours down in the DWB I can't keep track. Yet besides 2 PLC in all my hours down there (and of course completing the foreman's quest). I still feel no closer to even getting one piece of mando because I am still hoping for the binary fluid drop. Of course, someone has to come on here and say leave it the way it is because they have no idea what they are talking about or had some very lucky groups.

Great post - and I hope they modify the drop.
