I can confirm that /loot does indeed still work in a macro. I run a loot macro all the time when I am out killing NPC's and it worked the same today as it has for the past 6 months. Maybe there are additional restrictions imposed in this patch dealing with AFK looters, but as far as simple macros are concerned, mine are working as they always have.




I can second this, I was at FT, running a few macros like CoB and a few others and the /loot command still works, from what i understand is the /loot command does not work in a group though, but /lootall still does.

Hunting krayts yesterday I was using COB macro and was able to loot by double clicking. I haven't tried using my loot macro along with this tho. Another thing about this afk/no attack no loot thing is that you don't need to use /afk to actually be afk. There's a check box you can deselect that enables you to not go afk automatically. In other words, it doesn't stop the campers, unless they don't know about that option.


One way they could stop camping is by putting in timers on caves. Once you enter you have x amount of time to do your thing. Once that timer runs out you cant enter the cave again for another set amount of time. If the timer runs out while you're in combat you get booted out. Certain caves would have to get new spawn timers so that people still have a chance at killing the "phat loot giver" An example of this would be the geo cave. Give players a 90 minute window to stay in the cave. Make the acklay spawn every 60 minutes and the fire spider every 30. Make the re-entry timer every 6 hours or so. This would accomplish a few things. No more merc room/geo camping. No more waiting for hours on end with a doc to buff in the acklay room. Guarantee that you will see the acklay at least once in your visit. Allow a wider group of players to experience the cave. Prevents large groups/guilds from "owning" a spawn.

Ok, I was surveying with my crafter today and I read this post at the same time. So i went back in-game and put /afk on and went up to an Ikopi. Attacked it and the music came on and the combat menu came up but i wasnt attacking and he wasnt attacking me. Once i took .afk off i hit him normally, so this is NOT restricted to high level areas.

Aye, the afk thing is a great idea but a real camper has an/afk togglein their macro so they don't get "kicked".

I had this happen to me, but its something to do with the group loot settings. I could use my loot hotkey solo and in one group, but in another group it did not work. I was not the group leader of the group where it did not work. I could only use the radial loot.

Sorry to crash the party here, but these changes do absolutely NOTHING to deter AFK looters. All they do is make life more difficult for everyday players (being denied legitimate looping macros like/centerofbeing and /maskscent during looting,being forced to use those horrible radial menus, etc.). If SOE really intended any of this toaddress AFK looting,they're even dumber than I thought. There are multiple workarounds for all of these things, as several posters have already mentioned. And it doesn't even matter what they do with the in-game macro system, because when things get rough, AFK-looters will just migrate to free third-party programs to do the same thing. SOE will be making a bigbig mistake if they continue to encumber everyone to try to inconvenience the AFK looters. Please SOE, listen to reason!

Really? There was an AFK looter today in that Nyax joint doing his /uitarget thing, using strafe shot2, and a looting macro! I can't agree that it has somehow been nerfed OR someone already found a way around it.






Yes i back up what n'av said, He was all but AFK, running his macro as usual but just didn't have AFK on, which i never did understand why people had it on, you don't need it to camp with a macro, so little has changed but its a nice change either way
