Thread: AFK Loot Camping not an issue anymore :) [i think]

Hi all,

Myself and a couple of friends went to the NS forced labour camp this evening for something a little different. and found that the latest patch held some interesting effects. Please note in all discoveries and testing i was in a small group, havn't tried solo, will do that tommorow and report back..

1. When my buddy was marked AFK (was in tell hell, not good time to be typing in Ns caves) he couldn't attack anything. then as expected in such situations, got sent straight to the cloning facility. When he came back still marked afk, still couldn't attack anything, i cleared area then we experimented with dueling, he could accept the duel, i could inflict normal damage, but all he could do was stand there, not even default attack, just stand there. As soon as afk switch off, all was as normal....

2. When hunting i normally have 2 macros looping, a loot on a 1 second timer, and a COB macro. these run and save me using dial or typing in combat. now out in the open at corsec base on LOK these worked fine, and looted as normal, but i noticed something strange, i couldn't trade, or get items out of my droid....

3. We arrive at NS forced labour camp, after the initial problems with my friend we get on with hunting, i kill fine, the macros are looping (same 2 as above) but I CANNOT LOOT. i use /dump to clear the macros, and what do you know i can loot again.... experimented with this and was able to reproduce both situations.

Anyway if all this playing around is accurate and true for ALL players, then the devs have found a way to remove afk macro combat from the game without affecting non combat profs such as entertainers. No more irritating static spawn campers like Eclipses Nyax camper with T21 that does 12,000 damage a shot to nyax. Now ALL players can go experience these locations, and stand a chance of gettin gthe loot that has been reserved for the selfish few till now.

So basically in pre-emptive joy i /salute the devs, /chear and /scream HURRAH. this combine with the changes in 13.0 and 13.1 makes the devs in god zone currently. Keep up the absolutely fantastic work.

Oh and any flamers..... I cannot go buy an uber weapon to compete with, the only way to make serious cash for that is to sell loot, and guess what you have monopolised it, no more, all players that can stand a chance can now do so

This would be even better news if looting as a whole hadn't been completely stealth nerfed in this publish.

Really? There was an AFK looter today in that Nyax joint doing his /uitarget thing, using strafe shot2, and a looting macro! I can't agree that it has somehow been nerfed OR someone already found a way around it.

I read in another forum that the spatial commands for looting no longer work. IE: /loot &/lootall ect...


It was said that the only way to loot was to use the radial menu. I love this! No more AFK camping/macro looting!



Dev's: Can we get the SEA mods that do not work replaced with mods that do? Also, while you're at it, make sure to update the loot table by deleting mods for SEA's that are no longer applicable. Thanks.

I can confirm that /loot does indeed still work in a macro. I run a loot macro all the time when I am out killing NPC's and it worked the same today as it has for the past 6 months. Maybe there are additional restrictions imposed in this patch dealing with AFK looters, but as far as simple macros are concerned, mine are working as they always have.

I used just a /loot macro today and it worked just fine other than the bodies stayed longer than usual.

I think I know what it is now. If you are AFK, as in you went "/afk", then the /loot commands do not work.


I know that now if you are AFK you cannot attack a mob; They can still attack you though.

Hey noob ordinary people who never afk loot greatly appreciate not having to use the radial menu for anything if they can help it.



Think about the game before you think about your paltry AFK looting solutions folks.

Hello all. should have put some more details but was getting late.

looting macro DID work at fort tusken and other open static spawns (corsec base on lok) as did normakl functions.

/afk resulted in the inability to engage in combat anywhere (when marked as /afk).

Any looping macro (cob loot etc) prevented any looting in the Nightsister Forced Labour camp (missed out on elder loot damn it!!!!).

With no macros or /afk i could loot using normal method of either typing /loot or using dial menu in NS cave.

I will tell my guild to experiment, and run experiments myself over the next few days and give you all as much detail and specifics as i can, i read the release notes a couple of times and havn't seen this anywhere, and it will only be the small minority of selfish players (yes i know i'm asking for flames here) that will complain, after all it will benefit the vast majority who actually PLAY the game.

sry again that i didn't makemyself very clear. It does apear that it may only be a selection of the higher level areas that are affected (and be honest nyax cave isn't difficult compared to NS etc) will no more soon, i also urge you all to play with these effects in different areas of the game. the more people that work on this the quicker we can get an accurate understanding of the changes and how they effect us all
