Items And Loot Archive
Thread: You know . . . . . this really isn't loot.
Huh? Compared to what? Not all the quest reward items are great but the good ones(e.g. Proton Carb, Katarn Knuckler, etc.)are definitely better than what can be crafted.

Weapon drops are 98% worthless, and the quested ones are of average quality.
What we have now is the old SWG colliding with the Dev's want to copy WoW and shovel Jeteye down our throats :/
Completely agree with the above poster, glad someone else realizes it.
The thing is, all the other MMO's are set in times of magic and such. Then you can have wizards or whatever who create uber weapons. But in a game thats based on Star Wars, I don't think you have anyone that uses magic or whatever to create the uber stuff, sorry.

I petition they hike up our monthly for a couple months and add some decent drops in this game.
Most other games make rare loot almost a necessity to give characters a chance to do things in many situations. Such a system really hurts new players in the long run. This is why i like the non-loot system that SWG has. If nothing else (which it does seem to be the case), the player-based economy is probably one of SWG's best accomplishments.
Loot to enhance your characters? Sounds like armor and clothing attachments to me.
Weapons and armor? That's what I use weaponsmith and armorsmith vendors for. And before you complain about price, if you don't like the price set, then either make the credits needed to buy it or just don't buy it. Find a vendor who sells the same thing for a better price and shop there. Simple as that.
They tried "legendary" weapons drops in the past. It unbalanced the gameplay. Plus, crafters in general have had a more difficult time of it since the CU was implimented, why make it tougher on them?
If they started putting armor pieces, weapons, ect. into loot, then it would be bad for business for Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths. Sure EQ2, WoW, ect. may have better loots, but they don't have professions which craft weapons, armor, droids, clothing, and the like, now do they?
When adding loot, you have to think about who it will effect. If you add in some uber rifles to the loot table and they're not very hard to get, you're going to hurt the Weaponsmiths because people can go loot a free uber rifle and not have to bother with a Weaponsmith nor pay a high price. If you add some nice armor pieces to the loot, then you'll hurt Armorsmiths for people could just go out and loot themselves a full suit of decent armor without the hassle of expences of going to an Armorsmith.
There are more then just combat professions in SWG. If that was all there was to this game, then yeah we would need loot drops like this. But when we have profession that craft all this stuff for business, no we don't need the loot, and it's just a bad idea.
