Thread: People are getting too carried away about Krayts

It seems a lot of people on this board expect Krayts to spawn like mad and have almost every one drop a pearl. If some of you would stop being money hungry for a second and think, you'd understand that pearls are supposed to be very rare, as are krayts. I remember the first time someone found an ancient krayt, most people didn't believe the guild when they showed the picture. Krayts were rare, pearls were rare, everything was how it should be. I think they need to set the Krayt drops to how they were, before every one dropped a pearl. Just my 2 credits.

if this did happen, they wouldnt be worth what they are now... it has nothing to do with the value of the pearls, but the actualy pearls themselves. Jedi need pearls... you can't get them any other way than krayts

yes, the original concept was to have pearls and krayts rare. but after SOE made jedi so anyone could get it, they had to make saber components a lot more common.
its nothing compared to how it used to be. krayts were very rare, crystals were even more rare (and 99% of all crystals were god aweful). this all changed when publish 9 hit, and then pearls became more common with the krayt boom spawns.
bottom line, is in the old days, the rich monopolized the market for high end pearls.

Jedi were also supposed to be very rare and they are not. The loot dropneeds to be proportioned to the amount of Jedi on your server.
I hunt dragons for a few reasons so I can get loot that I can use or resell and for fun of hunting a high level mob. I don't want every dragon to drop a pearl or any loot for that matter. It makes the value of what I loot go down. Right now tissues have saturated the market since there have been so many sets dropped. If 1 in every 5 dragons (giant/ancient) dropped a pearlI would be happy about it.

It isn't just Krayts, people are p!ssed about the whole loot situation for this type of mob. It's game breaking and no eta on the fix is not good.
Rather have a drop every kill than one every....never

Did you know that krayts are not droping ANY pearls right now? Same with mobs that drop crystals? I feel really sorry for all the jedi who don't have 4 50/50 -9 crystals in a non-decaying light sabre. This is probably the best possible way the devs have come up with to say "NO MORE JEDI!! We have all we need, so the rest of you can go play WOW now. Thanks."

Maybe you already have your jedi and all your perfect pearls are in your LS with an ADK.
What about the next guy? What about the people just finishing the village that want to start working on there padwan? Is it just screw them???
I dont even have a Jedi, and dont plan on it. But it doesnt mean that I dont stop and think that its pretty F'd up that these ppl cannot even get a pearl toput in there LS.
And no need to answer the first question...I seem to remember seeing you sig in many posts on the jedi board.
Horray for me...and screw the next guy. Thats the additude.

Exactly. I said on the testcenter in-dev thread for this supposed fix that's supposed to be on TC right now, pearls still are not dropping on there! There are people standing around the frogs in naboo that have killed 30+ Giants on TC-Ahazi and NO PEARLS, people that have killed elders and NO CRYSTALS. My subscription ran out this morning when I went to sign in to launchpad, and I'm not even going to bother to renew it untill Krayts are dropping pearls and NS are dropping crystals again. I'm not going to grind a Jedi template with some poor-good quality crystals (which EVEN THOSE are now becoming hard to find with the current nerf), and read a book between force bar recharges and do crap damage because I wasn't fortunate enough to get some premium/flawless pearls/crystals which were dropping in abundance 'till a week ago. My other two accounts are almost expired as well.
And hey, I'm not one of these guys that says "OMG FIX IT OR I'M GOING TO WOW NOW!"... SWG is great, I'm a star wars fan, and I love the game, or else I wouldn't still be here. Yeah it's got it's issues, but overall it's still great fun. But for people that focused on Jedi and don't have four nice premium tunes and an anti-decay kit, what are they left to do? Become a fan of the players that were lucky enough to get in before the nerf?
No thanks. And I can comfortably say that I think a lot of other people, not just those interested in Jedi, but loot hunters in general, are very bored right now, and looking into different things to do with their time. It's bad enough when you log late at night and there isn't a single player in front of coronet. This game doesn't need setbacks like this.

are you "special"...the more that drop...the lower the prices go...did you not see the auctions that raging' was doing...2mil for a flawless pearl...something that used to sell for 10mil and you say...hungry for money. Before you come here and run your hole, you might want to look around. especially since people on YOUR server were trying to help the economy by not high balling anyone...now go back to your corner.

just curious....are dragon pearls a requirement for a light saber, or just prefered?

Yes, you need pearls/crystals to put into your light sabre. They add damage, reduce speed, and reduce force cost. You can use a training sabre and not need crystals or pearls, but that is the equivelant of a cdef pistol.

so, its either pearl or crystal you need for a lightsaber then. i'm guessing with the high demand that pearlsare prefered though?

well in all my tunes...i have noticed that pearls rated premium tend to tune better than crystals of the same rating. but now...neither are dropping...and i have yet to loot a crystal period in the last couple weeks. be it a color or clear.
