I tried searching and the only answers that are given are 'destroy item to get it back'.
Is there another way?
According to the description:
This is an Anti Decay Kit which can make an item not decay when a player dies or uses the item. To use the Anti Decay Kit, both the Kit and the item you want to use the Kit on must be in your inventory. Place the item inside the Kit by dragging and dropping the item onto the Anti Decay Kit. Use the radial menu option on the Kit called Apply Anti Decay to make the item not decay. If you change your mind, you can retrieve the item by selecting the radial menu option Retrieve Item From Kit. Only items that can be insured are valid to be used with the Anti Decay Kit. Items that are weapons are also valid to be used with the Anti Decay Kit.
Which implies that the ADK should be recoverable without destroying the item.
The option to retrieve is available if you haven't applied the ADK yet, but not after.
If it's meant to be this way, then the part about retrieval should be moved to before the apply part, and it should say plainly that destroying the item will recover the kit after its been applied.
Bug or not?

Theres only 1 way to get it back after an item has been ADKed. And that is to destroy the item. There is no other way.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE submit a ticket and post the CSR response.
I just hit 450 days and I'm considering getting the ADK, but if you have to destroy your precious item to make another anti-decay, I find it crappy.

its realy not as bad as it sounds i mean the only reason you would need your adk back would be to put it on a new item and why would you want it on the new item if the new item wasnt somehow better than the old item
in my opinion we are lucky they made adk's more than a one time use

You can retrieve items from an ADK only if you haven't used the APPLY option. The retrieve function is in case you mistakenly put the wrong item in to be ADK'd.

Your considering getting the adk? LOL Grab it as soon as you can. These are great for that one uber weapon you have or even to put on a key piece of armor with mods in it......NO DECAY, think about it....you never ever have to worry about that item wearing out. On my server these are selling for $20 million right now. So, even if your against the ADK and how it needs to be removed (destroy the item)....other people don't feel the same way and will give you $20 million cash for the chance!!

I just hit 450 days and the imperial guard hologram is tempting too.
As a Trandoshan Force Wielder, I have little use for this. My robes are indestructible and my saber is collecting dust in a corner. I am, so to say, independent of items.
The one use I could find for this is if I got some special headgear, but I have yet to find that.
And a hat with 4CAs? Well, this takes forever to decay as it is and I will have gathered enough CAs for a new one if it should decay anyway :-(
Someone wrote something similar to "You may as well destroy your ADKed item if you get a better one", I disagree, this item that was so hardcore that you wanted to spend this highly sought item on it, must definitely be worth more than the fate of a broken datapad.
And millions? Who needs millions? :-P
Thanks for the feedback on my post and for not turning to flaming me, despite calling ADK potentially crappy, I realize how this item is an icon for worhsip to some (with good reason if you're, say, aMaster Lightsaber-wielder):-P
