Thread: Please Dont Make ID Mandatory (Runesabre Quote)
I had the same kind of reaction to the idea of letting image designer make people look covert. This isn't the reason why I like image design, and I don't want to be like the master doctors who have huge lines of people waiting for buffs. I can just imagine being swamped with tells by people who are about to raid abase and are screaming that they need their faction hidden *now*.

What's interesting is that the developers seem to listen to non-iders and their ideas and fail to listen to us,,they continue to ignore issues and go off on tangents that dont even make much sense,,and coloring a vehicle ora pet,,,I am an image designer ,,not a garage mechanic or veterinarian
But I am convinced 100% that if they dont start listening ,,it wont really matter,,there wont be anyone left to care,,

- New ID (non-character creation) content
- Improved User Interface.
- Vendor ID'ing
- ID building
- TemporaryID - non functional/crazy styles and colors
- Temporary disguises – faction hide
- Bug fixes
- Crafting
- Secure trading
P.S. Please note "PvP/Combat influence" and"Buffing" are not on my list, for a reason. I feel that IDing should not become a "Mandatory" profession!

I would really love to hear more opinions on this matter. Thunderheart sent me an email on Friday that somewhat concerned me because it sounded like they were wanting to focus a great deal on integrating us with combat/PvP. Of course that is something many of us want, but not on a large scale, and not at the expense of things we want more. Please send in your views asap so I can be properly armed with your true opinions on the matter. Order the following as to how you'd like them arrive timewise if they were to arrive
New ID content, Bug fixes, PvP/Combat influence, Crafting, Buffing, Vendor ID'ing, ID building, new pricing scheme, Secure trading, Any other listed in the state of the profession (nothing new please)
That is because I think they have lost their vision. It was supposed to be a game where different playstyles were welcomed and you didn't have to be an uber-1337 fighter. Now nothing seems to matter except for combat/PvP. Also, if I am forced to participate in the GCW in order to do my job, that means TEFs and dying a lot, or giving up being an ID because I can't perform the services that people want. ![]()
Anyway, I would love to see new content, vendor IDing and bugfixes (especially for changing hairstyle) in that order. The rest might be nice, but I don't really care that much about them.
- new content beyond character creation
- vendor ID'ing
- bug fixes
- disguises, either in person or craftable, which would tie in with the imperial crackdown - i.e. applying them would make it less likely to be caught with contraband. This would be popular for novice smugglers and others who have sliced items and do not wish to be caught.
- some form of registration on planetary map - whether a building or otherwise.
I want a skill that is useful, but not "necessary for life as we know it." I want it to be less popular than a doctor buff. I don't want this skill to be time-sensitive - i.e. "come here right now and hide me from x", but rather a crafting component would be good for scheduling purposes. The crafting I think we've already discussed in terms of materials, factories, etc.
Other than the "functional" aspect of crafting disguises for contraband detection, I want to do all the rest of my work in person, whether it requires crafted kits or not. I think for weird color changes, that would necessarily have to be a) permanent, b) long-lasting (week?) or c) able to be used by anyone, so we don't get hassled at every single server reset to redo a green hairdo.
Just to clarify what he wants, does he want IDers to be a combat support profession, a profession that needs some combat skill, to be effected by the GCW, have a way to effect theGCW, or what?

A little bit of 'recreational' food and spice use should not show. Time without using any of these enhancements should let someone's physical form slowly revert back to normal. But if someone wanted to have the effects gone immediately, then we'd be a good alternative.
I suspect, however, that the coding and the database would not allow for physical effects on a character to self change gradually back to their 'normal' state. An interesting idea tho'.

He was very unspecific and didn't really mention combat specifically, just integrating us into the game. Runesabre's post makes me assume (I don't have ANY facts yet) that they are discussing integrating us into combat. Please noone panic until I've had a chance to clarify things. For now though I would really like if more than five or six Image Designers would give their opinion on this matter. I know our community is small but please pity me having to make an argument based on the posts of a handful of people. Wonderful posts of course, but just a very small sample of the amount of ID'ers I know read this forum.
I...do...not...want...to...be...integrated...into...combat.
Our role in the game is fine. There's just not enough content and too many bugs. Why in Hades does everything have to revolve around the *edit* GCW?
Our stuff should be going to and through the Art team not the developers working on the combat revamp!
As for my priority list, mine is the same as Sir_Voor
