Thread: Skill Status

As recently requested by another Image Designer, I am posting a status report so everyone can see where the focus is right now.

As a correspondant, I am responsible for submitting the top five issues with the Image Design skill, approximately once a week. Once I get a response, I will pass that on to everyone here on the forums, and then submit five more. I am also allowed one "pet peeve" per week, at the bottom of my emails.

My focus right now, is on fixing the bugs. And since the correspondants can change often, I'm leaving many things open for the next correspondant to submit. So instead of saying "the followingchanges can be done incharacter creation, but not with the Image Design skill," and submitting that as just one issue, I have divided them up and submitted each one as a seperate issue. By spacing it out, I feel there will be less stress on the designers, and it will give future correspondants something to submit.

The issues I have submitted so far, are as follows:

  1. When changing hair styles, horn styles, or colors, the person being styled can see the correct color (except with horns), but it shows up as the default color to all other players (including the stylist). You have to log out and time out for others to see it correctly

  2. "Baldness" can be selected at character creation, but is not available to Image Designers.

  3. Image Designers can not alter Twi'lek Eyebrows, butthat abilityis available at character creation.

  4. When Twi'leks wear head-dresses or helmets, their lekku appears to the front going straight down. If their lekku are styled in another direction, they appear to have more than just two lekku.

  5. Players are saying the Image Design skillgains are too fast. Personally, I think they are fine. I power-gamed my skillREALLY hard (honestly, about 10 hours a day), and it still took abouttwoweeks.

For my "pet peeve" I did not submit anything this time. I have not received any response to these yet, but as soon as I hear something, I will gladly pass it on.

Thank you for posting those Rilawyn. Hopefully if they can get to five small issues a week, it won't be long before the major bugs are smoothed out. Number five somewhat perplexes me. As I recall, one person said they felt the exp gain was too fast, andmost everyone else felt theywere fine as they were. Aside from yourself, the other Master Image Designers I know got there at about the same time as other professions began having masters. Professions that have a much rougher time of it, such as Tailors and Architects. And it kind of irks me that the only people that have said that the exp is too fast and should be slowed down are already Masters *chuckle*.

As an image designer myself.. This charactor is my third master image designer.. To answer the question about xp.. do I think they are too fast.. no, I dont.. I think it is just fine for a reasonable gamer.. it could take anywhere from 2-4 weeks at a slow pace, or if you powerskill you can do it in a week easy.. but thats with some serious playing and frustration. and there are a few tricks you can use to gain massive amounts of xp.. if you use those tricks it is possible to get the master image designer within 5 days (providing you already have the apprentice points) I myself being this is my 3rd master ID.. know a few tricks that could get me up with a total of 3, 24 hour sessions when I had an apprentice to train.. it was fun.. as for your pet peeve.. Could you possibly ask for image design crafting.. similar to makeup? my post on that is somewhere in the front of this forum, read over it and please be open minded

Thanks for the update, Rilawyn.

I too take issues with number 5, as only one person (probably a peeved crafter LOL) has had a problem with our experince progression. Power leveling my butt off combined with a luchky stretch of days off and a few crafter buddies willing to let me practice on them while they surveyed, still took me a bit over a week to make master. With no other skills AT ALL. No dancing, no combat, no nothing. If it wasn't image design I was useless. A normal player takes alot longer to hit master, and even longer than that if they don't have a consistent practice buddy.

And hay, for pet peeve next time how about asking for a color pallette or a range of unnatural hair colors?

Keep up the good work! =)

Good. All 5 of those are issues that _need_ to be addressed.

Also, is there anything in the Holocron (CTRL+H) about getting your image designed for people? I've had to set up macros explaining to people how to click "Accept" or "Reject". Many just don't seem to understand. If I could just tell them to RTFM first, then ID'ing people would be a TON easier.

Aye aye Soonmot, down witht the evil sliders. I suspect they would be a number one peeve for a lot of us. Maybe we could do a #1 pet peeve thread Woulnd't it be awesome to just have the char creation interface with stuff we can't do blacked out? In a smaller window of course My other pet peeve is the windows spawning on the people's face, sooo annoying.

Kwee, that is what I see in my dreams. Image Designers game wide rejoicing over nice big color swatches when they go to change a color!

In the future I would like to see another item addressed, Transaction Process.

Right now there is no real "transaction process" within our profession. A player can use our services and not even pay. There's no safety net for us and we can get scammed by anyone. There needs to be a confirm button on OUR side to end the transaction, NOT on the customer end. This way, after they confirm they want the changes we can confirm they have paid and select "Confirm" or "Done".

Without this, how is an ID suppose to feel safe about getting paid? A player can simply ask us for our time and when they see what they want they just click "Confirm" and poof they get what they want...no process to force payment if requested.

This is something I would like to see, secure processing.

I've given much thought to a secure trade window, but how would this be implemented? Many customers view half a dozen (or more) hairstyles or whatever before finding one they like. And then often change their mind. Perhaps if accept required payment? And refusinggave exp...(which I really think it should, it takes some time to get everything set up especially with the evil slider bars). So in order for them to even be able to hit accept, they would first have to enter a payment... That might work. What I've been doing is requiring payment up front from those I get funny vibes from

I think a trade window would be fairly straight forward.

All trades require both players to click "Confirm". The same would go with Image Design. When we are complete with the changes and the customer clicks "Confirm", we also get a box saying "Confirm". We then wait for payment via a window with a $ box or a /tip. If we decline they don't get the changes.

Basically, WE should have the last "click" to end a transaction not the customer.

1. Customer requests changes.
2. ID does changes.
3. When Customer approves they click "Confirm".
4 ID sees that Customer has "Comfirmed" and will now click "Confirm" to finish the process.

I can see that being a little awkward though. They would confirm then there would be this biglong pause where I would have to ask for payment before hitting confirm. It would besimilar toasking for payment in advance and then refunding if nothing is changed.

As far as the xp is concerned, it's possible to reach master ID in 4 hours. I did it in 3 days but only because I was the first on my server and had to do a lot of missions to buy my skills.

The problem is that if you have a sibling/spouse/friend playing you can gain xp really fast, especially with the right spice and drinks.

I agree with all 5 items on the list.
