Hey people,

(save flames until you read all of this, please)

I just finished my 3rd holocron and wanted to do ID for fun since I haven't done any ent-skill tree professions yet. I usually always come to the forums of professions I get into just to see what the culture is like and I am completely amazed at how rude most (although not all) of the ID's are here. If you don't like holocron-grinders then just ignore them, don't jump their case.

Moreover, I was AMAZED to see how rude the correspondent is to some people. For example, they recently posted:

"And when you have a very easy skill such as Image Design, you end up with people wanting to pick it up for the wrong reasons, and eventually causing problems with the existing masters of that profession (such as insulting the profession itself)."

Excuse me, but I come from the ideology that people can pick up a profession for whatever reasons they may have what so ever. Honestly, this rudeness is unacceptable and I think that is why most people do not like ID. Sure, you will all yell at me for this, but I do not dislike ID just based on the fact that I cannot go out and kill stuff (which, unlike ID is actually boring) but because the masters of the profession are so mean to people. If you want people to actually like the profession, you have to be nice. I think, however, that the rudeness is intentional to try and force people out so you can go on thinking you are an elitist class.

ID is actually really fun and cool, I just wish the people that also thought the same wern't so rude...

Also, reading more of these posts I would disagree that one could get banned for using /imagedesignSetValue frills 1. It is a bug, but I do not think that this is a serious problem, esp. one that would cause a banning of an individual; however, if a dev/moderator reads this and has a comment or can confirm this is a known exploit then I would much appreciate it!

The only reason I have a problem with holocron hunters showing up here and asking us questions is pretty simple to address:

I hate holocrons period. It encourages people to enter into professions where they 1) don't want to be and 2) could care less about. Prior to the release of these Holocrons, I NEVER got asked to exploit hairstyles on people. We all knew it existed, but nobody asked -- now I get asked for it every single time I log on, no joke. "I saw X with a <random race> hair style. Can you give me Lekku?" You think it sounds like I'm blaming holocron grinders for this? You're right. Because they don't care about the fact that it is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, an exploit -- it gives you an advantage that you cannot have through normal use of the game. You have to use a command in a format that it was not intended to be used in.

Come here, ask us questions, but be nice about it. Grind your ID out, that's all cool. Drop the skill, keep it, who cares? Just be respectful -- unlike some of the trolls who show up, say this profession sucks, change all their friends into random creatures, then drop the skill but keep showing up to tell us how we're stupid because they were able to grind from novice to master in 3 hours.

I am a marksman and I can migrate my stats so I can change hair color without mind drain, is this then an exploit as well?

All you guys seem to think that ID's are so much more special than everyone else... Moreover, calling people trolls and such yet you get pissed when people call you gay? How does that work. Perhaps the title "Master Hypocrite" is more appropriate?

You've got a lot of pent up anger. I had thought you were trying to be curious as to why most of us were upset to have random people rolling through.

Imagine if your server board was spammed with the same question over and over again, told you how stupid you were for investing character points on this profession, and then had the nerve to tell you they would find exploits, etc, and use them just to get your profession nerfed?

Seriously, guy, you're just another troll -- I mistook you for someone with an honest curiousity.

I was mearly pointing out two facts:
1. That I can migrate my stats to use legit. commands and still grind very quickly without an exploit (thus making the first exploit not really an exploit)
2. That you cannot call other people names and then get mad when people call you names back

It seems that instead of answering these questions, it was just easier for you to insult me, which is cool, I guess.

Yup. Moreover anyone that would equate stat migration with putting lekku on a human is not just a troll but...well let's just say not the brightest bulb on the tree.

i dont see how this is helping anyone...you came in here asking what seemed a legit question....now when you dont like the answer you were given, you flame us. That is what we dont like about the holo grinders, we dont care that people pick up image and then drop it, thats your character do with it what you want. but we are only asking that if you come here with an attitude that we are useless class or what ever derogatory term you choose to use for us. then please expect to get one in return. i hope this thread gets closed soon or deleted, i see no point in it other then a flame war going to start.

Perhaps you do not understand? You can migrate so there is a no net mind drain on things other than putting lekku's on Human's, which seems pretty applicable to me.

Just once more, just another insult from a ID, which loops back to my orig. point. I was actually just asking a question when I mentioned the stat migration thing anyways, is that not obvious? If not then let me rephrase: If I can migrate my stats so I can ID (other than lekku's) without a mind loss, is that an exploit or not?

If anyone actually wants to answer this instead of calling me dumb and a troll, that would be cool (there has to be a nice ID somewhere)

You were not asking a question. The above was an OBVIOUS flame. You were being rude and aggressive, when all I had done was present you with my opinion. It was not calling YOU names, it was pointing out that we do get trolls in here who specifically insult and berate us, so you are aboslutely right we are defensive as a group -- you would be too if your profession was treated like ours is.

"It seems that instead of answering these questions, it was just easier for you to insult me"... nobody insulted you, but that is an aboslutely agressive, diminutive statement. You either have way too much anger built up than is naturally healthy, or you need to write more clearly, as tone is implied by the words you use, not the manner in which you type them.

To answer your question: It is common among IDs to use a combination of Muon Gold and Dancer/Musician buffs to knock our Willpower and the like up to the point where it costs us nothing to use some changes, however, that does wear off... unlike an exploit.

Well I apologize you feel that way, it was really not an attack on you. I am also going to cc this thread to thunderheart in hopes he can weigh his opinion on the matter (not this thread specifically but the problem in general). I guess I just feel like its odd how you guys (ID's) get mad that 'we' (although as I said before I did not do this because a holocron told me so) become ID's. I guess 'we' (those who are not die-hard ID's) just feel the same way, I merely wanted to point out I think the pissing-match goes both ways.

I think a (possible) goood fix for you guys would be this:

1. Create a sticky with the thread title like "Holocron hunters read me" (or something of the like)
2. In there basically tell them they can macro and how to gain XP (ultimately I think macro's are ok) -- If Macro's are not ok then take it up with a dev and don't get mad at people who use them now (its not fair to them)
3. Ask them respectfully if they are macroing that they either learn about the profession or keep to themselves (nicely)
4. Tell them where trainers are, or tell them some in game names that way real ID's could at least get apprentice XP from them

It is just a general idea, but it seems allot of the anger comes from people asking the same questions over and over and perhaps this would help? Also, I would ask a forum moderator (CSR) to keep an extra eye on posts if things get out of control (lol, they like to close posts on other boards j/k).

I can understand it is annoying that people would start to do what you like, at a lower price and maybe even bend the rules. The thing is though, that this happens in allot of professions. Yes, ID is not all manly since you cannot design Nym's or Gorgs to death, and some people cannot handle that. Too bad for them, just ignore them or ask a CSR to lock the thread, just don't insult them.

Again, this is NOT meant as a flame!

Also, now that I think about it (I am famous for these PS posts) it seems that allot of the tension arises from male-female anger? Does anyone else think this is true? Perhaps a fix is to maybe make ID only appear in a holo for females (this is just an IDEA, if people don't like it PLEASE do not take to heart)?

To be honest,I'm presently maxxed out on my character for Apprenticeship XP because I to train the people who come to me to learn ID... even the holohunters. I watched a guy go from novice to master in one night and trained every skill to him during that time (he'd /tell me when he was ready for more, I'd run over, teach, then go back to shilling in front of the starport). I don't turn people don't when approached nicely, ever.

I do see what you're saying about male/female prejudice. Hearing the term 'gay' thrown around is bad enough, it doesn't really affect me (being that female=female in this case), but I know I've heard it used as a derogatory term against male IDs. I find it shows the quality of the person making the statement, but that's beside the point. You are correct in assuming that Joe Sixpack comes here and says 'This profession is gay so I'm going to master and unlearn it quickly, so tell me the best macros'. Those people are a large part of the reason we are defensive as long-term IDs.

Honestly, I think the only solution is to make this profession harder. I say that not as a Master ID, but as a player. What other profession can you litterally BREEZE through like this? Even Merchant took me longer to master than this, and you get free XP per hour per Vendor with that skill.

Anyway, hope your questions get answered... just try to watch your words, we all are presently.
